What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna be checking out the Rhino-Rack Aero Bar Roof Rack system for camper shells. You're gonna install these rails on your camper shell, then you can slide the bases anywhere you need to and attach your rails. Let's check it out. There are a few options when it comes to this roof rack system. You can get different color sets, so they also come in silver and different sizes as well.
The roof rack system's gonna be really good for getting extra storage space outta your truck bed so you can still load up your truck bed with all the items you usually do. Or maybe you have some longer items that don't quite fit in there, those can go up on your roof. So for work you can put some ladders up here or some conduit systems. That way it just frees up more space in the truck bed for more of the other gear. Now, that's not to say you can't use it for recreational use as well.
So you can throw kayak carriers up here, get them up on top. It is a little taller than normal to get them into place but it is definitely something you can do to get the kayaks up and out of the back of your bed, especially if it's too long for the camper shell. You have a few options when the comes to accessories or adding them to the bars. You have the T-track up top that you can slide things in up here, or there's plenty of room with the camper shell and the bottom of the rails for clamp accessories, too. So even if they have some hand knobs, you're still going to have plenty of space to get those tightened down.
Whatever accessories you throw up here it does have a weight capacity of 220 pounds, so just make sure you stay under that so you don't damage anything. Another thing I like about this system is that you don't have to leave it on there all the time. The base and the feet make it really easy to remove these if you don't wanna leave them up there. So if you don't have anything up here, you don't want the bars there, easily take them off throw 'em in your camper shell if that's empty and it has this nice sleek look just leaving the bases in place. That way when you go to throw 'em back up there you don't have to remeasure that every single time.
Look at the end of the bars. The foot cap here is gonna have a locking core. I like that because you can lock up each one of these so that nobody can mess with this when you're not around. You also have a key that's gonna lock the end caps in place. I like that as well, same reason. Nobody can mess with that because you got the little key. So let's take off the cover of the base and look at the inside. This is gonna be the part that I talked about where you push these two red tabs in and you can move the foot from the base. That's really easy. I like that. Now, there is a lot of setup with the rails and getting these bases set up but once you do that once, it's pretty easy after that. Just throw in those buttons, releasing that, push 'em back in to put it back in place. You don't have to get any tools out whatsoever, just put that into place and you're done. Overall, I do like this roof rack system. It's a little intimidating when you have to drill holes in the camper shell for those rails and it does require a little bit of setup to do that, but when you're done with it, I think it looks nice. The rails are low profile. They fit in with the camper shell. Also, the fact that I can disconnect the feet and the bars in one go on both sides. I don't have to get the tools out. I just hit those buttons, pull it off, throw it in the back of the truck when I don't want it on there. Makes it really easy. Plus, I don't have to remeasure everything and get it set up when I go to put 'em back. I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out and hope this helped..

I just bought the same cap and rails. The cap is rounded a little from front to back and the rail will have to bend to be secured to the cap. Is this your experience as well? Thanks

I bought a used top for my truck that already had rails installed. Are rails universal? Can I buy any racks to install on the rails? Or are racks only compatible with their own manufacturer’s rails?
