Today on our 2013 Chevy Cruze, we'll be installing the Curt Hitch, part number C11282. This is what our hitch will look like once its installed. Next we'll go ahead and give you a couple of measurements to assist you with selecting accessories for your new hitch. From the center of the hitch pinhole to the outermost edge of the bumper is 6-1/4 inches. From the top of the inside of the receiver tube opening to the ground is 10-1/4 inches. This will assist you selecting accessories such as a ball mount, a bike rack or a cargo carrier. Now let's go ahead with the installation.
First note that this vehicle is not equipped with a head shield, so it will not be necessary to modify or remove the heat shield in order to install the hitch. Now we'll go ahead and point out the attachment points, which will be predrilled holes in the frame by the manufacturer. Our rear most attachment point will be at the very end of the frame, our forward attachment point will be the second hole from the end of the frame and then the fourth whole will be our access hole that we'll use to get our hardware up into the frame. Our hardware will be 7/16th carriage bolt and block along with a 7/16th flange nut. We'll use the 7/16th pull wire to feed our hardware into the frame and into position. Starting here on the passenger side, we'll start with the rear attachment point first.
We'll take our pull wire and feed it through the attachment point and out the access hole. Then we'll slide on the block and thread on our carriage bolt. Feed the block into the frame followed by the carriage bolt and pull them both into position. Then we can go ahead and remove the pull wire and repeat the same process with the forward attachment point. Now we'll move over to the driver side repeating the same process, however after we get the bolt pulled into position, we'll leave our bolt leader on the carriage bolt. Now we're ready to go ahead and put our hitch into position.
We'll bring the driver side up over the exhaust first and then the passenger side into position being careful not to push our hardware back up into the frame. Then we'll go ahead and install the 7/16th flange nut. Now with both fasteners installed finger tight on the passenger side, we'll go ahead and repeat the same process on the driver side as we feed our pull wires through the attachment point of the hitch and bring the hitch up into position. We'll remove the pull wire and then install the flange nut. Now with all of our hardware in place we'll go ahead and tighten it down.
Next we'll torque to specifications as indicated in the instructions. Now with our hitch secured and torqued to specifications that'll complete our install of the Curt Hitch, part number C11282 on our 2013 Chevy Cruze
