@27:23 - Keep in mind you can ninjitsu a ninja back to your hand, and then ninjitsu it back into play again. Instead of just ninjitsu'ing the ornithopter for your ingenious infiltrator, you could have picked up the biting palm ninja, and then ninjitsu'd the biting palm ninja back into play using the ornithopter - you still get the 3 draw card triggers, but you get to thoughtseize your opponent. I think that might be a better line since you know the opponent has mystical dispute, which means you can't rely on drown in the lock for the next turn anyways; better to be pro-active and remove a potential board wipe.

there were a couple notable misplays here, i think that the moves of letting them draw cards was a problem, every time i draw cards in blue/white, its because i have nothing good on hand or am using my mana before my turn, countering it usually ruins my game plan for the next two to three turns

Etrata is my favorite alternative wincon. I played a deck with sunbird’s invocation and rhythm of the wild to put etrata into play with haste when those cards were in standard and it was the funniest thing.

Thats an Etrata win. If they wont play creatures, you Etrata'd them.

You know, I never thought about how well Ninjutsu synergizes with Fatal Push. Too bad Ninjutsu is primarily in UB and Revolt is primarily in GW, otherwise I think there'd be a sweet casual brew in there. I feel like Etrata feels clunky in this deck because the rest of it is going for the classic snowball-y Ninja game plan, where getting to the 5+ mana necessary to Ninjutsu Etrata into your hand and immediately replay her is non-trivial. I almost wonder if you want a few copies of Prosperous Thief in there to do a bit of ramping. (As a side note, I would LOVE to see an Against The Odds-style deck built around some of the ninjas that don't fit into the traditional Ninja gameplan, like Covert Technician.)

Hey, I ran into you testing this deck on the ladder a couple weeks ago! I was trying out your Shrines deck and you scooped the match after Sterling Grove forced you to exile a token with Etrata instead of the Go-Shintai that made it, haha. Seemed like it was maybe a tough match-up. 😅

There's a 3cmc enchantment that has 1: return creature you control to your hand. Activate only during your turn. That use to be my way around her trigger but ninja are just better

You can also use Semblance Scanner, equipped to Etrata. She hits face, you get a copy of her conjured to your hand.

Mari, the killing quill!!! We now have another way of placing hit counters on creatures making this even more insane!

Etrata works infinitely better with Spectral Adversary and several flicker/phase out spells. You can flicker or flash in Spectral Adversary and pay its additional etb cost to phase out Etrata until your next turn while making Spectral bigger. That way Etrata is protected until your next turn and doesn't need to be casted from your hand. If you can't find the Spectral Adverary, you can use 1 mana phase out or flicker spells to either keep her from being shuffled or to protect her. To find Etrata, add a few Impulses. But even if you don't find her, Spectral Adversary by itself is usually enough to deal with most threats and win the game. Edit: Adding in a drawbridge or swiftfoot boots immediately gives Etrata haste. And virtue of knowledge lets you copy Etrata's triggered ability for only 2 mana.

I feel like most people don’t know you can just flicker Etrata to get around her being shuffled, plus if you run it like that you can also deal with people trying to remove her as well. A lot more control styles version of a deck with Etrata.

I know it's the wrong color but maybe splash red for Relic Rober to give them a creature could be good. Even without Estrata it's would be good on an empty board.

If you want to keep the alt win con theme. The next against the odds should be Atemsis in historic. You build him with bag of holding, DFC's, and possibly Magic Mirror for the limitless hand size. Crack the bag of holding after you hit with him and add all the cards back to your hand in response for as many possible cmcs.

Two creatures with counters and opponent with cards in hand is definitely an Etrata win

At 15:57 you could activate Kaito to look for Etrata before conceding, you probably still would have lost though.

I am trying to play a variant of this deck and can't get the ninjitsu ability to return Etrata to my hand before the shuffle resolves. I've watched this video over and over and can't figure out the steps in Arena to make that happen. I have a ninja in play with mana available. What's the trick?

Honestly this deck feels pretty sweet but it also feels less like a build around Etrata and more of ninjas which happens to run Etrata, the deck would probably be better with replacing her with some type of utility spell

Why not use the 1 blue merfolk 1/1 that can't be blocked? Same as outcast but has the option to block.

I really like Against the Odds segment. Deck brewing is what I like in Magic. I stopped playing constructed because everyone wants to win and not actually playing the game. For me, winning is just an additional compare to experiencing the game.

I was watching for a while, then Hearthstone cards started showing up and I don't play that game so I stopped. Really wish Magic didn't decide it wanted to merge with a worse game that way.

Salty ropers is one thing, but I don't think it's as bad as someone who scoops early to a Chandra ultimate when there at 2 life points.. just saying you had a chance definitely an early scoop on your end why you get the thumbs down.. other than that keep up the amazing work n maybe just try not too try soo hard all the time..

Why are we playing historic? It is a dead horrible format since the Alchemy Release haven't played Arena since 1 week after the alchemy Release. Don't get me wrong I love against the odds I love alt win conditions my Bant Helix pinnacle deck is one of my favorites but I don't see a reason why you should play historic who cares about that wasted potential of a Format that is historic?

Any deck I see with ninja 🥷 or Etrata is getting auto like 👍🏾 and at least 3 views
