It is kind of mind blowing, the different "official" Etsy responses I've seen screenshots of over the past few weeks on different FB groups and stuff regarding this whole ordeal. It's also kind of mind blowing that something that has sent these kinds of shockwaves through the POD sellers community as not been publicly addressed from someone in the top levels of Etsy management.... at least not that I've seen or heard of yet. Then again... with the hundreds of thousands of POD sellers there are, I wonder if all of this drama is only actually affecting a minuscule fraction of a fraction of them and Esty just doesn't care because it's not hurting them in their pocketbook.

THANK YOU! This was the best explanation. I own a printing company where I print things like posters with scriptures. I noticed others on Etsy use the mockups I use to sell other posters. Etsy even sells poster PSD smart objects you can buy. I had 3 listings removed because they werent "handmade" I make all 1000+ motivational quotes and scriptures myself or my employee. We sell on walmart, wish, ebay, amazon handmade and our own sites using the same mockups. A bot wouldnt think its still us but it really is. We make our designs from scratch I have a masters degree in art. It sucks to have my job and my employees in jeopardy over a bot. I have made so many support tickets and they all give the same awful response. Many times they dont reply at all. It is awful. Hoping to post good news soon. Thanks for the vid.

Etsy did not even know their "bot-trolls" were taking these down. They are aware of it now and are working on a fix.

Lol. No they're not. ETSY gives less than zero fucks about anyone on their platform. If fixing a problem that destroys entire lives costs them .00001% of a cent, they won't even consider it.

How do you know they ae aware..? my shop been shut down for 8 days I had almost 500 products I have been emailing them for 8 days now still not resolved beyond frustrated with them and they DO NOT REVIEW your acct in 24 hrs .. I agree they should be paying us for loss of income they are holding my money earned and I cannot even purchase anything either. I do POD but have not violated any rules and if I did give me a chance to fix it this is the first time thy suspended me, I have been opened for 4 months and still new and have spent HOURS and a lot of money on adds .. beyond frustrated.. I strongly feel this is disrespectful to the sellers. Thank you for the video gives a little more clarity of this mess..

@KIM-rr6ou they HATE new sellers. They'll let their bots destroy you while they're on vacation without ever losing a wink of sleep.

You are right, I actually got shut down, because of handmade policy violations, got the message that it wasn't to be reversed, then I said ok, I shut my shop, I have sold 10,000 dollars worth of products, then I received a message saying it was an error and received free listings, my listings are still being flagged as a violation

It's good to hear that it has been cleared up that it's not the use of third party mockups. A lot of Etsy 'influencers' decided to run with this story initialy, even though there was no clarity at what was happening at that moment.

The comments at 3.40 are odd - I had a brand new shop permanently suspended (it had one product in it) and all of my listings on my other shop deactivated for - well, I have no idea, seeing as I've had no contact from Etsy whatsoever 🙄

I Think it is not right time to start at Etsy. I have been studying online e commerce more than 6 months to find the right model, at right time , at the right place. I have opened shop in Amazon and Etsy Uk but they are all empty. Maybe shoppify , eBay, ecommerce will be the right choice for this time period. I have time and no rush. I am looking for a safe long term relation. I am super host at Airbnb for 13 years. I designed all my houses. Goverment in turkey does not Airbnb in turkey anymore. I have to do a B plan now. I love designing.

Very good information. I wish everyone created videos as clear and concise, and getting to the point as fast as you do. I will say it is somewhat discouraging to find so many sellers violating Disney and Dr. Seuss trademarked images. I mean there’s also so many other violations occurring ; I.e., Star Wars, Harry Potter, etc. I could go on and on. And they are getting thousands of sales and obviously getting by with it as their items show up frequently and first. So Etsy’s so-called bots are not working as great as what they should be. I mean it’s not rocket science to just search Disney or Whoville and find many listings. You don’t need a bot to do that. It takes five seconds of human time.

I've tried creating an account 3 times now and have gotten suspended almost instantly. This 3rd time was immediate. Appeals have all been unsuccessful. Making me believe that POD is no longer welcome.

I had my shop for 4 months 500 products and was suspended 8 days ago and have no idea as to why ?? have not been given a change or a first warning all my mocks up are from sellers that use the product in the photos I even ordered samples , I have no idea I have never infringed or used trademark designs or titles. But I see a ton of people using them. Also they are holding onto my money this is not good and disrespectful on how they treat their sellers there could of been a much better way to handle this instead of waking up and your shut down with no warning

I left Etsy as result. I gave them a chance by reaching out until they responded saying they were not going to reverse their decision. As someone who only recently opened a store on Etsy, I’m moving on to other platforms. Good luck to all the pod designers here, whether you stay with Etsy or choose another platform. Keep doing your thing, keep creating.

I'm thinking about adding Etsy to my POD business. I haven't so far because of situations like the one you are discussing today. Specifically, I don't understand the difference between what is described as POD and Mass Produced Drop Shipping. To make this simple, why can't I create a graphic for a mug or T-Shirt, order a 1,000 units and sell them from my home and at the same time list them eBay or Amazon? Is that breaking the "Handmade" policy?

Just go look at the POD shirts. So many sellers just slap the CF design and don’t change anything. That’s not hand made. You see the exact same design over and over and over with zero variation. It’s frustrating when those designs fill page 1 on the search.

Agreed, but the issue is people who are changing, editing and doing the right thing, being flagged and persecuted by bots.

@@AaronTheGreat2023 I went looking yesterday for research and found multiple listings on page 1 that are copyrighted. How are they still there? They need to stop flagging shops doing the right thing and get those shops doing the wrong thing.

I follow a few larger creators one thay has an actual mock up shop and not one of them mentioned this issue being a legit thing. I only saw it on smaller creators channels. I couldn't figure out what to believe. Etsy bots are pretty terrible though and it seems to be that error to blame. Thank you for your video.

Print-on-demand is killing Etsy's reputation. 100's of shops selling same design on the same shirt. It's just another type of drop shipping.

It's time for Etsy to either do all this with humans or give up the BS. The reason they started allowing things like PoD is because they weren't making enough money selling only handmade. Either go back to completely handmade or just let it all go. Bad sellers will always get around the rules while good faith sellers are always the ones who get hit.

I don't think Etsy is anti-POD. If you are an artist and have your artwork printed by professional printers, who cares if you ship the order, or the printer ships it? I think -- I would like to think, anyway -- that Etsy is trying to reduce the deluge of garbage on the site. People get this idea that they can get rich quick and they just list thousands of products. And a lot of these so-called designs are repetitive and a lot of them are vulgar. I just did an innocent search for "Christmas candle" and right at the top, I mean on the first screen, there's this garbage with the "F" word and everything. This dreck makes money, I'm sure, but it also hurts Etsy's brand and turns off customers with good taste.

I made like 5 stores because i wasn't sure what niche i wanted to go into. For no reason, and with me never posting a listing, Etsy suspended all of them, anything connected to my social or IP, and sent no explanation. They just destroyed me for nothing as a complete beginner. Ill be doing something else thanks.
