Hi Kate Hayes. Thanks for the video. I just created my shop on Etsy but when I finished uploading my pictures for my listing, add variations and set up shipping and all that at the bottom, I pressed save and continue but I'm not seeing anything saying publish my listing. Why is that?

Great video! I am constantly looking for ways to improve my shop and will be taking a look at my listings. We are in the process of getting our product photos updated and Christmas items listed. Right now we have novelty socks, mouse pads, drink and car coasters and ornaments in our shop. We focus mostly on gifts. We like to provide a variety so customers can hopefully find something for everyone they are shopping for.
I cried my heart out because I'm following all of your videos and when I decided to open an Etsy shop, my country doesn't support Etsy's new payment rules! But thanks for all the advice that you give us.

You are the absolute best Kate I remember your first tutorial it was amazing I have to get through this I’m going to keep learning this I want to open this shop. Believe it or not I’ve been a landlord for 26 years in the city of Los Angeles I own apartment buildings so I must be able to do this I’m sure plus I’ve gone to college as an adult so hopefully I just was worried about the shipping stuff and the labels and finding the right containers in boxes that are reusable for items that was my main concern. My photography and marketing and style will be fine I’ve been on a C 12 years so I know the market and the way that things are listed I’m also super diligent and I would never leave this site for a minute. So I think I will be good when I get through these small hurdles I’m going to try to start it around fall in October November when I feel comfortable to be doing it the whole time since where I live is a cold place and there won’t be anything else to do. Again thank you so much you are wonderful.

WHEN i set up my shop, Etsy required I use Plaid for payment. It was quite involved to do that. Was that not required when you did your video? That was what I was really needing help with. I did pick up so great pointers from you so Thank You!

Hi Kate! Thank you for ALL of your helpful videos. You give great advice to all us newbies! 2 quick questions: 1) If you put down a quantity for an item then "sell out" what happens to the listing? Should you have a higher quantity if you plan to restock? 2) How do you get the free shipping when you spend $35 or more within a shop option? Thanks 😊
Hey there! Great questions. 1. When you sell out of the quantity listed, the listing will deactivate until you change the quantity again. I recommend listing a higher quantity if you know you’ll restock and have it available so you won’t need to deal with this as often. 2. You should be able to choose the free shipping guarantee within your shipping settings.

Hi Kate, I know this is an old video, and I'm sure you're very busy, but I was wondering if you could help me out with something. Seeing that I'm just starting out on Etsy, let's say I have several of one product, and I use whatever size boxes and packing material I could get my hands on. When listing that product, as you had shown, you have to put in the size and weight when packed. What size and weight do I put if the boxes are all different? By the way, I love how you laid everything out very clearly!

One question: is there any way I can start creating listings (or the bank information) but save them partially completed, so that I can come back to them another day? I'm not sure if I can get all my product listings and complete setup in one go.

Not sure what people mean by this other than they are frustrated with the fees. Etsy does not steal from sellers in any way- all of their policies and fees are clearly stated in the seller handbook. The only thing I’ve ever experienced is Etsy taking out the standard fees that I knew from the beginning when I decided to sell on their platform.
I'm prepping to launch my shop, where I want to sell handmade home decor signs, paintings, and some digital items that customers can have printed themselves. Most of my products are focused on handlettering, but do I have too much variety if I sell both physical signs, physical paintings, and digital downloads?
I’d say it depends on the style of your products. If there is a similar style or some common theme or element tying them all together then I’d say it’s fine to have them all in the same shop!

I shop from ETSY with the same card, and I have never had a problem. Or do we have to enter my original card for sure? So, the confusing part about uploading photos isn't clear. Lol Where did you click to open the box to upload them and how did your photos get onto that box? Sorry but I don't know much about this. Also, for shipping weight, should I buy a scale, or do you have options on the site and make a guess?

This video completely skipped the part where you pair your bank account up with plaid. When I got to this part, it got my bank information and wouldn't let me go any further. Meaning the saving continue button was blacked out instead of being lit up blue, and I was unable to press it. So I immediately closed my account, because I wasn't able to even set up my shop and Etsy manage to get my banking information from me. That's pretty scary when you go on and sign up for something like this to sell your stuff and as soon as I get your banking information you can't go any further. Now I know it's not a problem with my banking information or any of my other information because I've done the same process multiple times on different selling sites. I just thought I would try out this Etsy thing and I wasn't even able to try it out. All I was able to do was give them my financial information. Therefore, leaving myself open to be completely scammed by the company.
I am having an issue. The How you get paid part. It will not go to the next page when I filled out everything. I press save and continue but it just turn the "save and continue" button grey and doesn't even try and load to the next step. I havent' found anyone with the same issue and I would like to know why?

Hello, I'd like to ask about something that a friend of mine told me. I've heard that Etsy also allows sellers to add listings directly from their store (Etsy store), pay for them, and sell them to their customers, but not like the traditional and correct way you showed in this video. Super helpful video, especially since I just tried to open my shop this week! The reason I stopped in the middle of the process is that I don't have a product ready as of now, or at least not the product photos. I'm planning on selling handmade candles but I'm still testing them and even though I have the descriptions ready, I haven't taken any pics. I assumed I could set up my shop and then add the products once I was ready. Is it possible to add one fake product, like just a placeholder, and then after a bit, add the real ones and get rid of the fake one?

I don’t know what I would like to sell yet however, I was planning to research what sells. Do you recommend to use a business name initially that is not specific if your unsure what your selling yet?

I am so frustrated I hope someone can help me. After watching this I updated my shipping to calculate for me instead of the manual profile I set up. Saved everything. Online it is correct however when I go to my sell on etsy app it doesnt have my shipping changed it only has the manual shipping profile. Do you know how to fix this?
