These beats are really, I mean really simple in a technical way. The hardest point of these beats are stability and duration of your physical capability so it might be tricky to keep in beats if you didn't practice in metronome

The snare issue you mentioned is what made this difficult for me. I'm not a drummer, but I basically always have a kit at my house and have always played for fun. It was super frustrating because I've listened to/been in almost exclusively hardcore bands since I was a teenager. Obviously, this beat is what the entire genre revolves around. So, it was super annoying that I'd heard it SO much and still couldn't play it. At least, couldn't play it consistently. Once I figured that issue out, the rest just came with time.

Dude, thank you so much for this! The mysticism is over! Before, there were no videos about these things. Drummers had to somehow learn from records or from finding out some drummer's "secrets". :) But times change and this knowledge is available to anyone now and this will ensure that a lot of good music will be created. :) Keep it up!

Thanks the gods that I found this video. My band and I wrote a new song called Frozen Exile, and in it I play I four measures of blast beats (while keeping time on a cymbal), then I change to the "Slayer" beat/Skank beat, then back to blast beat then back to skank best. This video helped me realize that there were somethings that I need to clean up a bit. Thank you so much for the helpful video!

This is awesome/hilarious. I would think it would be easier to learn a d-beat with the right hand following the kick since that's "normal" and then go to skanks from there! Although I guess if you're doing just alternating 8ths to start that's a great place too :)

I can do the metal kick pattern with one foot or with two, but not the d beat, nor the simplified beat! I can get it if I concentrate a lot in my foot, but very poorly lol

Eugene Ryabchenko I'm not actually too sure because I've never owned a pair before. I've just heard from people on forums that the drive shaft can slip after a fair bit of usage and some of the nuts can break. I'm currently looking for a double pedal to purchase and I would like to know which ones are more durable cos im broke and I dont really want to have to buy another pair after like 5 years. cheers :)

Hey Eugene, I'm interested in the PST7s as more of a gigging/beater cymbal set. How is the durability/sound, specifically the crashes, in metal music?

Thanks for this question. I had the PST7 19 inch Crash and I played around 40 shows before I got a crack on the edge (not counting countless hours of practice, merciless transportation in buses, trains, airplanes). It survived for around 6 months.

it's normal. When i play songs in for example 220 and i want to play 16'th notes on hh i play it with my fingers. Look at old belphegor drummer.

Just hoping i dont watch it too often so i start picking up your accent again, it pisses off the wife something aweful :) A question though, wich Axis pedals are you using atm? atm im using the DW Direct Drive Double Pedal but it does'nt realy suit me and i was thinking about investing in a new one.

What is that Pad/E-Drum Snare your brother is playing? Is that part of a larger set? Also: What is that Metronome you're using? Is the sound we hear in these videos the exact same you hear while playing? Because I like this click a lot more than the one I got.

That is a: Roland RMP-5 (snare) Roland KD-8 (kick) Roland CY-8 (cymbal) The click I am using was given to me by a good friend of mine from a studio. I don't use that click sample during playing.

Hey, thanks a lot for the answer. Since I can't afford a full E-drum kit I, thought this would be a good alternative. Especially since, if you've only got snare, HiHat and bass, you're not distracted by anything else. If I may ask about the click one more time, can you recommend a particular metronome? Brand doesn't matter. I got myself a Tama Rhythm watch for the features, then realized it had the most annoying click I had ever heard.

I accidently go from metal kick pattern up beat to down beat all the time. Cant hold the steady up beat without flippin it around. Hate it! Doesnt sound bad per say but I dont wanna flip it!!

Another great video Eugene. I really enjoyed it. I use the whipping motion for everything, hi-hat or ride cymbal but I never played music much faster than 245bpm. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8PR16DNFEBo.html Hitting the hi-hat with the tip of the stick and not the shank just sounds thin.
