RIGHT???? WTF!!!! Why would anyone wish for that!!!! I was addicted to opiates for a year (fentanyl, the blue pills with the m/30 on them that rue would take- except I would smoke them) and it RUINED my life, im finally getting myself together. Been sober for2 months, got a job and am getting my life back, but I’m one of the lucky ones!

@@nellejones2288 Damn I'm so proud of you! Fr! Getting sober is so difficult, but it sounds like you're really motivated and that makes me happy to hear. I'm a court employee and work with a lot of addicts in active addiction and in recovery and seeing people's faces fill out and their eyes get light back in them is the best part of my job. I'm also a fentanyl addict, I've been a drug addict since I was 14 but fent is really what ran my life into the ground. I was sober for a little over 6 months but relapsed 7 months ago and have been struggling. It's a bummer.

I think what truly makes all of them so bad whether it’s overdone or underdone is that so often Tik tokers are so focused/concerned with looking attractive to matter what emotion they’re trying to portray that it all feels fake. When you’re actually sad or crying or angry or whatever you’re not concerned with keeping your head at the same angle or only flattering angles so you still look pretty

I mean you *shouldn't* but a lot of people *do* feel insecure crying so they try to keep their face neutral and not do what they think is an “ugly crying face”. When you’re acting, though, looking like you’re about to cry but are holding it in is a pretty complicated emotion to convey 😅 Maybe the problem isn’t that they’re avoiding “ugly faces”, but they often put on like a face you'd do in your instagram pictures. Keeping a neutral face isn’t as bad as the whole bedroom eyes gazing into the camera, sexy duckface pout and a few filters on top of that uncanny valley stuff 💀

this, and the fact that they're able to see themselves on the screen as they act. too often, you'll find them looking at their own reflection rather than into the camera, which would make it feel more like they're making eye contact with you. this means they're reminded and shown how they look as they do it, and even if they weren't trying to look attractive, per say, they'd probably find it difficult to actually focus on the emotion they're portraying and are more likely to get caught up in _looking_ like a certain emotion, rather than feeling it and conveying it naturally to them. so instead of replicating how _they_ might act when sad or whatever, they're trying to look like someone who is visibly sad. it creates a disconnect from the scene.

Skip. I watched both seasons, beautiful cinematography and strong performances but all flair. None of the characters are particularly likable and the only one with a truly interesting story is rue. Season 2 is especially boring. If you’re in the market for teen melodrama watch the UK series “Skins” more realistic, more charming and more interesting drama. Also the actors are actually teenagers and the sex scenes are less explicit when involving characters that are minors. Watching a 25yo play a 16 yearold and always be like half naked explicitly is v creepy imo..

The thing is, when I watch these, I don’t believe them. I don’t get immersed into the scene like i do when watching the actual movie or show. They seem more focused on looking attractive to their audience at the perfect angle rather than portraying the real line. I think that’s why it feels a bit off, a bit uncanny even.
