An Ex Rafale Pilot for the French Air Force tried the Rafale out on DCS and he said he felt as if the Rafale had much more power in DCS than they really did have. As if someone dropped Russian big jet engines into it.
well as they show in the beginning of the video, ingame the rafale gets a 1.58 thrust/weight ratio, over the realistic 1.19, that's a significant increase. The Typhoon here actually gets the Thrust/weight ratio reduced from 1.26 to 1.08. So basically they reduced the rafales weight by 25% and increase the typhoons weight by 16% here. That's why the rafale feels much more powerful, it just weighs nothing

At the end of the day, it's not up to Cap to fix problems with the mod. While that might sound a bit harsh, what I mean is that if Cap started doing that, people would be upset that he would rig the fights in favor of one plane or other. The comments would be full of hate, and Cap would have to explain the why he is doing it every video, and still get hate. I'd love to see a series where the planes are adjusted like that. But weight is only one part of the puzzle. If he starts adding weight to adjust for differences in thrust, that would make the total weight unrealistic. So in the end, I don't think it would be that easy.

F-4U Corsair VS MIG-15👍 During the Korean War U.S. Prop Planes shot down MIG's on a couple occasions-- The Hawker Sea Fury shot down a MIG-15 and The AU4 Corsair also shot down a MIG-15! Vietnam-- A-1 Skyraider shoots down MIG-17 I believe on two separate occasions!!
I understand that the F-4U Corsair isn't SFM and the MIG-15 is and that breaks the rules however it's a historic fight and an epic one at that lol not to mention it's a freakin Prop Plane VS A Jet!! Perhaps the Weight discrepancy is that the mods may be based on other existing aircraft models? You said the cockpit on the typhoon is the F15 one so could the weird numbers be to offset that original model?
Eurofighter cockpit is 100% wrong, t/w ratio is wrong, turn radius aswell. I wonder why an Eurofighter pilot would fight against a Rafale at low altitude when the Eurofighter is unbeatable at high altitude. In the end it's a game but having an Eurofighter model 100% wrong is totally useless.

Only way to fix it is to basically get access to the source files, and then they have their biased and a fork of it where it is "fixed" Then you can please both worlds and this is what happens for other platforms with modding, you get the biased OP version, and then some guy attempts to rebalance it.

Looks like Typhoon haven´t chance. It is same in real life? Why are parameters so dofferent in game in comparison with real life? I was think DCS is very realistic, but by that parameters, it looks more like arcade.

whatevah the mod, it was done in real airs on tlp in Corsica some years ago, Rafale 14 dogfight wins, EF2000 zero! since the RAF doesn't really fancy any Rafale challenge on TLP, avoiding it
Rafale did not win. The settings were all screwed up. Sounds like the French paid the developers for the advantage maybe to showcase and sell Rafales.. 🤷

The MOD of both aircraft is trash and totally unrealistic. Why can’t the MOD designers actually spend time on creating quality MODs. Freaking AIM9X and Python coding is available. So why not give both aircraft proper weapon capability? Also no HMD in Typhoon? Seriously? Cockpit also looks obsolete and totally does not belong in Typhoon. Yes i am totally tearing both MODs apart because they deserve it.
Cap, I'd urge you to refrain from using the "in DCS" part in the videos, since mods don't really have much to do with DCS itself and might as well be FSX addons. It only makes sense to say "an aircraft X in DCS" when we are talking about the official content (or at the very least about something on the level of the A-4E or MB-339). As for the "Rafale", well... Ladies and gentlemen, let's welcome Cuesta brothers! A fairy tale loving SFM mod maker only second to Cubanace in terms of putting stupid numbers in their .lua files.
@@CAL1MBO Cap fully understands that SFM mods are just SFM mods, but I'm just unpleasantly surprised he keeps saying things like "Eurofighter in DCS" or "Rafale in DCS", whereas there is effectively NO Eurofighter in DCS, nor a Rafale (although the Typhoon is coming). As for mods, any kid with some knowledge of Blender or 3DMax can put a whatever 3D model into the sim and write any arbitrary values into the .luas, and there you have it: "TIE Fighter in DCS" or an "actual dragon in DCS". In fact, these two mods would make more sense if one of them had a dragon's 3D model and the other one - a TIE Fighter's.

As you say, you are biased in favour of the Typhoon. Doesn't mean the models ingame are accurate, but IRL, the Rafale performs better than the Typhoon in most aspects, and most missions. Just check the swiss evaluation, available online: the Rafale was the best in every mission type, followed mostly by eurofighter, as in some missions, it was under requirements. The gripen being consistently under requirements. The Typhoon has more thrust to weight, speed, and ceiling. The rafale is more manoeverable. Partly thanks to the canard placement and design, which redirect air to increase lift during high AoA turns, meaning it bleeds less energy and turns better than a regular delta with wings like the Typhoon. The Typhoon is close, but in such dogfights settings, it's gonna lose most of the time. Side remark, in terms of shapes and resemblance, they compare like a square-ish FW190 and a roundy La5. As soon as the FN version went out, the La5s ate 190s for breakfast, being more manoevrable and comparable in thrust and speed. Which, La5s being indistinguishable from one another, led to 190s evading combats with any La5s. Unrelated, apparently, a few years ago, rumour has it the british pilots started refusing to train against Rafales. ;)
When training in real life the Rafale won against the TIPHOON quite every time. The MICA (EM / IR) is a : Missile d'Interception de Combat et d'Autodéfense). Never forget for it. @@grimreapers

Which of the 2 can land on carriers, can carry tactical nukes (ASMP), and has real combat fighting experience over Afghanistan, Libya, Iraq and Syria? Rafale.
The euro fighter has been used extensively over Syria in combat missions as well as in Libya in 2011. Also used by the Saudis in bombing operations in Yemen.
Ok, so these are simple models and we are waiting for the real deal, but I shall say this only once: never, ever go single circle in a Typhoon. She is a rate fighter, and plays that game very well indeed. Radius, not so good and you will get embarrassed by last gen aircraft. Got it?
To me, Typhoon is the ugliest plane of Europe even if UK's not european partner. AAE gets one of the best fighter pilots in the world with one of the highest flying time ratio per pilots in the world (more than RAF pilots)
In real life, the Eurofighter is slightly inferior kinematically to the Rafale, but since the Eurofighter is much cheaper to buy and maintain than the Rafale, Eurofighters are much more common, while Rafales are only used by France and a few countries.
Im pretty sure rafales can be a bit better than typhoons in dogfights but typhoons are (in my opinion) better at long distance fight, that is more effective nowadays and it is a lot more faster than the Rafale, rafales can only go 1400km/h while typhoons 2495km/h
