As an AEK fan much respect to Brighton. You have an amazing team and we were dreading the game (especially since we did not have our two main CBs). However, I think it came down to two things: 1) Your lack of European experience 2) Almeyda is a fantastic coach with amazing belief in our squad. Tactically he decided to leave your CBs unmarked with the ball (leaving the first pass unmarked from your CBs meant an extra midfield player to add pressing) and track your 9 with our CB wherever he went, defending and pressing deeper than we usually do, and using link up play between Araujo and Garcia on the counter. I think you guys need to adjust a bit to European football, which does not have that much space as in the Premier League. Look forward to our game in Agia Sofia. I still think you guys can advance.

Kind remark. Our club's name isn't "AEK Athens", it's just "AEK". The toponym "Athens" is NOT part of the club name. It never was. The club was founded in 1924 as "Athlitiki Enosis Konstantinoupoleos" meaning "Athletic Union of Constantinople", hence the akronym "AEK", and has remained unchanged, as evident in our club charter, ever since. Athens is not even our place of origin -that is Constantinople, modern day Instabul of Turkey, formerly the capital of the medieval Roman Empire, the cradle of the late medieval-early modern Greek nation (later the capital of the Ottoman Empire of course). It's not even our homeground -that's Nea Filadelfia, a suburb of Athens. The "Athens" addition in our name in our appearances in the UEFA competitions is an abysmal marketing decision of the club's overtime administrations, going back a couple of decades and unfortunately continuing to this day. It's a shame that we, as AEK fans, do not demand from the administration to appeal to UEFA in order to correct the club name in its competitions and media. This indifference has led many foreign fans to the false impression that "AEK" is probably an insignificant abbreviation, something like "FC" and "Athens" is the real name, so they call us "Athens". Henceforth, plainly "AEK". It's also easy to pronounce. Not as an initialism, but as a singe word of two syllables. A -EK. Best regards to Brighton & Hove Albion fans.

AEK fan here, it was a great honour to be your first European opponents! I wish I was there, but you gotta admit, whoever AEK fan made it, created a great atmosphere to an already hot stadium.. Our coach praised the way you play and said you play the best football, so I am glad we beat such a great team with a great match.. They called it group of death because of you, Ajax and Marseille but we can compete just as well Nice vlog!

We were shaky, passes were not sharp enough and set pieces defending was bad. Might be the first timer pressure acting up. AEK were clinical with their chances and defended well. Fair win to AEK. Hope we will improve the next game!

6:22 First of all Greece is not actually Eastern Europe, but South. Secondly it's terrible how some fans, especially from Western Europe, they underestimate other leagues. This is what happens when you think you are superior, even teams with small history like Brighton. It would be good to look for some better things, especially in England, because you only have distinctions in the sport of football, but in no other, as the friend mentions disparagingly. The Greek championship last year was extremely competitive and this was also seen by how easily Panathinaikos beat Villarreal. In my opinion, I believe that any team that underestimates the Greek ones, will suffer a great loss

Was disappointed lost it a bit too much in midfield and defending woeful at times , I do agree with you we are pretty bad at corners and set pieces attacking the other team. I'm and AEK fan living in the UK i had the journey all planned out to come to the game but the tickets ran out within 2 hours very bitter over that... your squad is otherwordly for our standards and this is a game ill be telling my grand kids about in some 40 + years. It is not easy, difficult fixture and group you are in. As a West Ham fan, I feel it puts into perspective what we have done in the past 2 years in Europe. Other fans down play the Conference and even the Europa League (some fans of the big 6) and it is really, really tough going. Playing in some rather obscure stadiums, artificial pitches, hostile environments etc. Is all a learning curve and great experience for your players, sure you guys will be back!
