European goes to American All You Can Eat Buffet for the First Time 

Before Covid Times, Golden Corral used to have an actual chocolate fountain and you could cover the strawberries and the marshmallows in chocolate yourself. I nearly died when I saw that fountain for the first time. It was incredible.

I was happy to see how conscientious you are about food and empathetic with how some people can be vegan or vegetarian. Not everyone cares like you. You are a sweet human being, I enjoy watching your videos.

I almost forgot, how did you miss their homemade rolls??? They are so awesome, especially with the honey butter!!! 😁♥️ Those are the reason most of us go back!!!

Thank you for being considerate of vegetarians or vegans. No vegetarian or vegan would eat either one of those soups but it's nice that someone is aware and cares about others.

Now you can appreciate why some of us struggle with our waistline - these places serve so much food for the money.

Never forget to make a crater in your mashed potatoes so you can fill it with the gravy and you use the crunchy skin that falls off your chicken with the mac and cheese for the crunch and seasoning it needs.

I really really liked how careful he was being in not letting the food get into the vegetarian food.

As a native Texan, I am now ashamed to say I've never eaten at a Golden Corral. I had a bad experience at Ryan's buffet... and I decided no more buffets. But Rafael has convinced me to try and eat at a Golden Corral. ❤

I think she told you the cocktail sauce for the shrimp is located by the salad dressing. Honey mustard on fried shrimp is a good idea too tho. I also love pot roast. Glad you enjoyed our food! I heard it's better than English food....omg your reaction to the mash potatoes is funny they are made with potatoes, butter, milk and seasoning.

There is nothing wrong with putting honey mustard on your shrimp, but the woman was telling you to get the tartar sauce for the shrimp which is on the salad bar. The cocktail sauce may also be on the salad bar and it is used for shrimp.

Rapha, you gotta try Golden Corral's yeast rolls with honey butter when they are fresh from the oven. Seriously! 🤤

I've never seen any of your videos prior to this one and I have to admit you had me cracking up. I also appreciate how you got to each area of the buffet. I rarely do that. I enjoyed this video so much, I am now a subscriber.

Love this vid. I love how even though you've found great success and can eat at far nicer places, you still stay humble and highlight places like this where the more average American might eat. Shows a lot of character.

That is a very clean and organized Golden Corral. The one I used to live near was always full of little kids running around helping themselves to everything so it was always a mess. Their food is good though, especially the salad bar and that fried chicken. Those are my favorites. They also have the most delicious yeast bread rolls that just melt in your mouth. I've honestly never had their desserts, I never have room for any. 😂

brown gravy = beef/red meat - the lighter 'tan' color gravy = poultry/chicken/turkey. You did grab the chicken breast which is the largest piece of chicken for sure, but my favorite, the smaller white meat is the wings. For the ice cream you can get a bowl and put everything you want in it, then grab a cone and just eat it with the ice cream, a lot less messy. Glad you liked it and if you did the breakfast one I hope that was as enjoyable!!

A good Thousand Island dressing substitute is to mix mayo, ketchup, and pickle relish. You should try putting apple pie (preferably warm) at the bottom of a dish, with ice cream and caramel syrup on top! 😋 I don't know that I'm saying it correctly, but I would pronounce it cor-AL. With the emphasis on the second syllable, and the "a" the same as the first a in Alan.

Golden Corral is generally a family friendly buffet, and kind of on the cheaper end of the scale. It is a chain. I would suggest trying a few different kinds of buffets in the US at different price points (you don't have to get super pricey, I'm only suggesting this for comparison). They tend to differ a little on food choices and sometimes the quality of certain items. Most buffets (especially on the cheaper end, and definitely more affordable) tend to have a lot of filler items like potatoes, breads, salads and soups, versus the larger amounts and different types of meats. Carbs are super yummy, but they fill you up really fast without satisfying you for later. I believe MatPat tested this on his Food Theory channel too. I'm glad you enjoyed the food though. As things go, Golden Corral isn't that bad to go to for the first time. (I always though it was Corr-Al for pronunciation, like a corral to pen in horses or something 😊).

Please more like this , I enjoyed it very much! Go for Breakfast, Go to Vegas.. Go to an Amish buffet? Try BBQ in Texas? Love it.

At an all you can eat buffet I gravitate towards foods that I rarely ever let myself eat or foods I will never cook at home. Usually end up with a plate of fried food and desserts 😂

I love Golden Corral! ^_^ It's 'corral', like a fenced area for horses on a ranch, not 'coral'! XD I love eating food from their salad bar, then food from their meat and vegetable bar, and then food from their dessert bar! :D

Golden Corral (Coor-owl) lol I worked there for a long time years ago. Everything you said I agree with 💯 Even the Mac and Cheese being just "ok". We used to put in the work. Fresh vegetables and all. That salad is actually really fresh..The potato and crab salads (not mentioned) are made fresh every single morning and oftentimes evening too. The dressings and things come from industrial containers made especially for restaurants, but for the most part everything there is made as fresh as it possibly can be. (I was a server too, but because I worked "back of house" I can attest for the food being pretty well made). Chicken comes in bags inside of boxes, but is freshly cooked throughout the day every few hours and as needed. Nothing should ever be gross there and if it is someone isn't there that day because that place runs like a ship. 🤣 (Ofc some are better than others as any chain store). 🤷

Thousand Island Sauce is named after the place it originated. The Thousand Islands between Canada and US. You should come visit, they give every tourist the recipe card for the sauce. There are boat tours between the thousands of islands and you can hop on and off between the Canadian and US ones. (You should visit in the same weekend you do Niagara Falls/Toronto/ or Montreal)

You have to put the white gravy in a bowl and on your mashed potatoes and dip your fried chicken into it. The post roast there is my favorite! So good

FYI Rafael, i worked for the company that made chili for Wendy's and you may be surprised to know that it's organic. Made from fresh produce and beans and packed as concentrate in bags. 😊 It's a shame they didn't have the chocolate wonderfall there

Thousand Island dressing is mayo, ketchup and pickle relish. You can use sweet relish or dill relish depending on your taste. I always make my own.

I am amazed that you can each such a huge volume of food and stay so fit. I never go to all you can eat restaurants because I hate feeling full. the price is just too expensive for someone who only eats small meals. That said, I would love to be able to go and eat whatever I want just one time without exploding, lol.

Not all Golden Corrals are the same. Some are way better than others. I love the breakfast on weekends 🌸

In American all you can eat and all you eat buffet is 2 different things.. the all you can eat us possibly similar to what your use to but with American twist. Honestly you were spot on about the cost of things in America, we put so much crap in our foods, why Americans have such a higher Obesity rate etc, Just make sure your hitting the gym!

pro tip: next time get the prime rib and steak, use a bowl for your ice cream and toppings then put the cone on top, use cocktail sauce for your butterfly shrimp, get the salad dressing on the side so you can try different ones (Ranch is a must for the US.)

We have one of these in my town. I've been to several of them, and you don't always get the same quality. Luckily, the one we have in town is pretty good. Because of our schedules, we eat early. We've found arriving between 3:45pm and 3:59pm is the best. That way you get lunch prices, but they're switching over to dinner. They don't serve freshly grilled steak and such before 4pm. It's also great, because there's usually still some of the lunch stuff on the buffet. Ours serves really good burgers using a larger version of their rolls for lunch. But I have to agree with your assessment of the pot roast being the best. Pot roast is expensive, and that alone makes Golden Corral worth it. Also, the reason you're not used to potatoes being so white is because I've noticed you like instant potatoes. Their potatoes are at least partially real (not instant) mashed potatoes.

Most locations also have free cotton candy to take home with you in bags. Gotta say my favorite is the chicken livers, the pizza (when it's fresh), and the steak. Breakfast is a real fun time as well, especially if you have them make you an omelette.

Lol -- I can imagine it was quite an experience. I moved recently and since the GC is only 3 miles away, it was on my list of considerations for proximity. They have a seniors buffet which is less than $10 where I live and includes the drink. I had planned on not buying much groceries and just going there, but wound up eating most meals from home. They have so much and all is tempting.

You need to go like 10 minutes before breakfast ends, like that you can get the breakfast buffet price and eat breakfast and lunch. Also for the salad you need to use the breast from the fried chicken. If you get rolls get you a bowl of cheese and dip the roll in the cheese and also get some fried shrimp and dip it.

I always liked the hot bread pudding topped with soft serve. Sooo satisfying!

I love that you tried Golden Corral! It truly is a bargain consider the price of groceries now. I make my own version of 1,000 island dressing with mayo, ketchup, sweet pickle relish, garlic powder and sometimes minced onion.
