I've seen a lot of well-produced beginner videos by people who really know their stuff. However, this is the first video I've seen that presents the information so that a beginner can understand. Well done.

turtlemouth yo thanks! My aim was to do something that would be quick and make sense. Lots of super long videos that are a bit tough to follow for a total new person.

Fun to watch you build a modular. One thing I just realized that even if you regret a module it is relatively cheap to replace it with something else, in particular if you can buy used. So one could consider some experimenting with filters and such. If i was to build my own I would go "filter nuts".
@NoirEtBlancVie

Man I totally need more filters and more VCAs and a sequencer.... Then again....I also need more money HAHAHA

I love this video for starters I've never had one but I do own an analogue solutions red square 2nd edition. Now I'm a mad scientist but I don't want a huge wall to wall system nor do I want a tiny one either well here's what I like I love grit I love super heavy distortion I love insane reverb and delay I love tb 303 diode filters vactrol filters goa trance psy trance Moog buchla the systems from the 70's and 60's hell throw in the 50's too that's what I want any suggestions. Well I've come across the Cre8te audio studios bundle kit it's 84 hp 55 mm deep it's a 3u desktop kit for 270 and it comes with its own built in midi clock and gate and power switch and supply plus two modules cells and chips and those two modules alone do a lot if I get that I'll do more with that than I could ever imagine what are your thoughts on that

As a complete newb to EuroRack these videos do the most for me. Minimum theory which I like because we all have our own theories, maximum inofr on what is required to make sound. Much of this part I already knew, but having itr laid out so basic and complete makes for a good base to build upon. The daunting pat ofEuroRack, IMO, is the cost. Sure looks like I'd be looking at $2,000 to $3,000 just to get started and up to $10,000 and up to get a system something like a Buchla system. Hmmmm...might try starting with a software system just to see how much I really want this.

Thanks Jack, my aim with this series specifically was to give concise information without filler because when I was trying to start it was like 45 minutes of a guy just noodling and then saying “and that’s how to start a Eurorack” I’m like WHAT DO I NEED MAN!!!!!!???? So the whole time doing this series was to make short videos that could be bite size. Thanks for watching, Eurorack is soooo pricey. I hate it sometimes.

I've used that 'technique' before too, on one occasion to the extreme! ;-) I was asked to do a basic Sub Phatty demo for MATRIXSYNTH and Moog, and before I was done the request came through to have an "unboxing" section as part of it. Well, due to time constraints and not wanting to box it up, so I could video the unboxing and then box it up again . . .I just recorded me boxing it up and then reversed the footage for the final video. haha. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-K4TXU2HtpK4.html

I have to say, I've been so lost figuring out where to start with mod synth and these videos have been some of the most helpful I have seen. Really great job and breaking everything down. I have a question, though: I'm looking at either starting with the Moog mother-32 or the DFAM. It looks like the DFAM is more versatile, but I'm looking to get a dreamy sound that I want to make ambient noise soundscapes with. The DFAM looks like it's really going to get me more rhythmic, but there are ways to make some lush bass sounds that are pretty alluring. Do you have a recommendation between the two?
@NoirEtBlancVie
@NoirEtBlancVie 6 лет назад
You’d definitely have to go with the M32, though if I were starting from scratch I’d think about breaking it down a little further, the M32 is huge and well, it kinda wastes a ton of space for being such a simple all in one.
@jimmydavis5055
@jimmydavis5055 6 лет назад
@@NoirEtBlancViethanks for the reply! I actually saw your video about how you would go with the Pittsburgh sv-1, and you still have it on your rack. I was thinking of buying that with a sequencer instead of the m34. Do you think that is a good start, or would you still recommend getting individual pieces first?
@NoirEtBlancVie
@NoirEtBlancVie 6 лет назад
Hey Jimmy, if I were starting all over I’d still pick up the SV-1. It’s honestly just so much more bang for the buck than any all in one voice module. The mixer is bad ass. I’d buy a filter from 24db LP filter Doepfer and call it a day. I want to reiterate that I literally had M32 #19 & #20 from the factory, I was hyped for them. Looking back, they were just amazing for their sound and sequencer, but size and versatility was lacking, you can do better elsewhere. I do truly hope for a Moog followup that will add features I think it needs.

How useful would my Neutron be as my first Eurorack module? What would you suggest as a next reasonable module?
@NoirEtBlancVie
@NoirEtBlancVie 4 года назад
That would be a good choice Darren, I’d say depends which way you wanna go from there, effects, shaping or modulation. If it were me I’d probably add shaping, another filter or add some bit crushing...aside from those things that are subjective I’d say what are you plans for the system over the next 6 months. Do you have an end goal system in mind?
