She sings about the Lady of the Sea and the staging is fantastic because it shows the water waves. And yea Portuguese has to be among the very top most beautiful languages spoken. he song tells the story of someone who has seen her love been taken away by the tortuous sea and is compelled to sing her sorrow and anger against the "revengeful lady of the sea". It was one of the best Portuguese entries ever and deserved at least the top 10. However, this song is still one of the most sung and awarded eurovision songs in Portugal, still to this day.

Hello from Portugal. I loved your reaction, this is my favorite song EVER, I know it by heart, and relate to it, since, like every other Portuguese, the sea runs in my veins. To you who would like to know, the song is about the sea, about how a man, probably a sailor, was taken by the sea and won't come back, and about how his love kneals before the Lady of the Sea (which is what Senhora do Mar means) and confronts her with what she did. In fact, on the verse where she says "Quem vem tirar meia da vida e da paz?" (Who comes to take a life and the peace? - free translation) it's like she's looking the Lady of the Sea straight in the eyes and saying "Who the hell do you think you are to take him from me?" Plus, the melody you loved so much with the violines, it's meant to reproduce the sea waves, coming and going and bursting against the sand and rocks. The same happens on the song "Canção do Mar", by Dulce Pontes. It's a unique and particular Portuguese music style, called Fado (Fate, in english), and speaks mostly about loss, saudade (no translation for that, I'm sorry), and the sea.
