@@No-le6yl But composed by a Croat, so that's why he says Balkan. Andrej Babic was the composer and he also wrote some of the Croatian entries in those years.
istorikos1975 nice to know! Im portuguese so i apreceate that! I realy what to go to greece mostly because of 2 things: the mithology and baclava (im positive those are not well writen but you get it :-)!)
This is the best song Portugal has sent to Eurovision. Can't believe they did not win this year. I get goosebumps every time I listen to this song. This song is so beautiful and authentically Portuguese. Unlike other countries sending Swedish/American pop, Portugal stays true to themselves sending distinctly Portuguese songs. Te amo Portugal, muito gosto das suas canções em Eurovisão!
Probably the best Portugal’s entry at Eurovision. Simply perfect. Staging, song, vocals, perfomance. All. So underrated cause this deserved top five for sure. Thanks for this art.
Madalena Iglesias with Ele e Ela in 1966 should have been the first Portuguese winner !!!!! Also Simone de Oliveira with Desfolhada Portuguesa in 1969, Menina alto do sera in 1971, Playback in 1981, Conquistador in 1989, and Senhora do Mar in 2008 should have all won !! They were all better then the winners !
How Europe has voted down Portugal at Eurovision is close criminal and this is another example. Fantastic song and performance. Top three at least! I love you Portugal, Laurent from Switzerland!
A masterpiece. It's a shame the juries weren't reintroduced until a year later, 'cause this gorgeous, powerful ballad and that performance should have carried Portugal to a top-5 finish (at long last!).
When i first heared it i was speechless. The singers voice is fantastic, the backing singers are amazing and the music is lovely. Spanish and Portuguese always sounded so strange to my ears and yet i fell in love with that song and still hear it today. I've searched and found out the lyrics and i was speechless again. I always felt somethings wrong with the eurovision voting system. This song should have been No1 ! Congratulations to Vania Fernandes and her group, all portuguese should be proud! I send you our support and love. Nik from Greece :-)
Portugal 🇵🇹 My Real Winner of ESC 2008. A great, emotional, deep and amazing Portuguese song. This is a Masterpiece I can't stop listen this song 11 years after!
That moment when I read your comment and I knew, that reality has gladly proved you wrong. I was angry that they didn't win in 2008, so the victory wasn't only long overdue, but Portugal once again brought quality. Winning the whole contest of 2017 was the only option for me and it actually happend 😍
Bem sei que quando vemos algo razoavel já ficamos cheios de esperança. Mas precisamos de ganhar não de "fazer bonito". MASTERPIECE! Não acho. A musica/canção é pouco interessante. CRIATIVIDADE.

I cannot believe I have only just come across this amazing song, 12 years after its entry in eurovision. So I played all entries from that year, what were the voters thinking this so is amazing compared to the rest. THIS IS A SONG.
As a Turkish, I am so sad that this one should have won. Both my country Türkiye and Portugal sent high-quality entries in 2008. Also Norway too... It is all about status-quo! You are amazing Vânia.
i don't understand what happened. 2nd in the Sf and 13 in the final??? This song is so beautiful and deserved to be in the top 5, and it's honestly way better than the winning song.
Audiences are (were?) different for semis and final - semis at the time were (still are?) pretty much diaspora + megafans, and the final had a wider audience. Sympathy for Portugal was at an all-time high among the fans, it was last in its semi draw, and let's face it the song was/is a masterpiece. Only thing I can think was that Europe wasn't willing to have two straight powerful ballads winning. I do think it'd have broken top 10 with 50/50 though (EBU never did release 50/50 or jury results) or a draw closer to the end.
@@user-fj4xw9on4i The song would've been top 10 with either 50/50 televote/jury - OR if it were 18th or later in the draw (it was like 10th). In the semi it had fans to help out and then it also was at the very end.
one of the best or maybe the best Portuguese entry. Amazing performance voice and everything. Shame that Europe underrated very much. at leat top 10. I love the lyrics and music. Greetings to Portugal from Mexico. I hope this 2017 come back with a powerful song like this.
I appricate this song as an adult more although I remember it age 13 for being so dramatic , goosebumps at the end !!!!! Im so glad portugal got a win last year :)
Passion, fire, and energy of fado music... One of very few songs that brings tears to your eyes. What a masterpiece! Should have been placed at least top 3 that year.
