Oh my God. I can’t imagine what life is like for you and your fellow Ukrainians right now. I’m so moved if my reaction could offer you even a second to escape in your mind. Ukraine is strong. You have support from the whole world. I love you, Ukraine. Keep fighting the good fight.💛🇺🇦💙🇺🇦💛🇺🇦💙
@@JakesFaceReacts It is very difficult for us now. But I believe that we Ukrainians will survive. You can forgive everything, but not the murder of our little angels, they did not deserve to die from bombs and missiles in the 21st century. My heart is breaking with pain. Thank you for your support.💙💛
@@JakesFaceReacts and it is also the reason why I am searching your new reactions on Eurovision 2022! 💙💛Many of your followers are worried about you! ♥️
Right? History did not have to repeat itself this time. You’d think the world would learn from mistakes, but sadly, here we are again. Love you my beautiful Ukraine.💙🇺🇦💛🇺🇦💙🇺🇦💛
It’s heartbreaking knowing the new meaning behind this. First about her grandmother and now it’s all about her self and every single Ukrainian 😭 We stand with you Ukraine🇸🇪💪🏻🇺🇦💔 🤜🏻🇷🇺🤮
Yes we do. Ukraine has the support and love from the world. My brother said Ukraine was his favorite country that he visited in Europe. He said the Ukrainian people were so genuinely kind and welcoming. My heart breaks for Ukraine.💔💛🇺🇦💙🇺🇦💛🇺🇦💙
When the blood turned out to be traitors, many ordinary neighbors turned out to be brothers. Glory to the sons of Georgia in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, glory to the Georgian people!
The song talks about the deportation of the Crimean Tatars in 1944. Jamala heard stories about this event from her grandmother Nazilkhan, who survived the deportation. You do a lot of reviews of our music and you know how much history and traditions we have in our music. We are proud and respectful of them
I can only join in her emotions and message because for me as a Latvian this is a very hard theme, too. It maybe wasn't in 1944, but we had really hard deportations by USSR in 1941 and 1949, made by Stalin, just like other Baltic nations, and we were one of the most suffered nations during WW2 in the world. I just hope that everyone won't have to get that experience again.
The Belarusians shed the most blood in World War II. 1/3 of the population in 1941-1944 simply died. But I don't want to compete with anyone in this. For world peace.
This song truly spoke for all Crimean Tatar families around the world, including mine! It voices our pain and finally the world has the opportunity to hear it. The chorus is from a traditional Crimean Tatar song called “oh, beautiful Crimea” or “ey Guzel Kirim” that explains how Crimeans never got to live on their homeland, didn’t get enough of their childhood due to the deportation that happened in 1944.
I can not relate in any way to the "story" of the song, nor do I have any cultural link to Ukraine, and yet, when I watch this performance - even after watching it several times - I always get the chills, especially at the moment she screams and the tree comes up behind her. It's like her soul is trying to get out of her body in that moment. I don't think I have ever seen a more touching performance of a song in my entire life.
ESC Fan When she presented her song in Ukraine first time, during that moment you described, she was pretending that she held a baby. That gave me more sad feelings.
I am half Ukrainian. Still I think this was disgusting. Cos it does is political statement. It contradicts to rules of Eurovision.i can't stand to her scream. It's hard to listen. Annoying
Natalia Kyniv
Katy Alison Katy Alison and it’s strange, the rules of Eurovision “no historical and political aspects at song” but what we see at this song? «1944 deportation of Crimean Tatars» - it’s a historical fact. Foul of Eurovision rules. Injustice
@@JakesFaceReacts I only just now saw your reply. How are you, we have not heard from you in a long time! I hope you are well and know that you are missed.
BEST WINNER EVER! (and also my favorite song of all time) No one in Eurovision history has touched people's heart like Jamala did, no one has delivered a song's message like she did (lots of people didn't know it's a personal song or know what she says in the chorus and still they understand what that was about). Almost everybody who watches her performance feels the emotion, feel moved in the end, touched and I also can say sad (because people feel it's a sad story song). People definitely catch her message along the performance goes. Jamala said a lot when she sings the first verses, she felt like the words struggle in her throat, as if was hard to put it out (that's why in almost all 1944 performances feels like she almost can sing the first verses) and even with that, she gives us a show (but She is definitely an amazing technical singer, as you can see in amongst of her performances on internet) . It's so UNIQUE, so POWERFULL, FULLY EMOTIONED, the staging was beautiful and the high notes... WOW IT HAS TO BE HER! I know it never will be popular or a "big hit" but as she said, the point was make people feel her story and she did it in an incredibly high level. THANK YOU UKRAINE AND JAMALA, I'm so so proud!
I think there's no way to listen to Jamala's song and not get watery eyes.....Her song so powerfully conveyed the suffering and pain that so many people around the globe go through....It brings tears to my eyes....and her voice is so so soulful and powerful...
A part of lyrics was in crimean-tatar language. It's a small nation and their language is cognate to Turkish. This song is about her granny and crimean-tatar nation who was evicted from Crimea to Middle Asia in the end of WW2 by soviet regyme.
I think this song is amazing... it transcends time and space, for every people in the world has experienced, at least once, the feelings expressed by the lyrics... and she is an amazing singer
That's a snazzy intro you've got going there :D Jamala's performance of 1944 still gives me goosebumps, I don't even know if that's the right word. When she goes into that mourning cry it tightens up inside my chest. It's not a song I listen to very often, but it's the kind that when I do, I give it my full attention.
Hello Jake! It seems like you are starting to react to past ESC editions which is great! 2016 was an excellent year! I didn't like the winner song back in 2016. Dami Im was my winner and I felt really frustrated when Jamala was announced as the winner. But now I can say she was a fair winner, for the same reasons you explained. She sang with her heart and soul open, it was a moving performance and I love it now. It gives me goosebumps Everytime I listen to it.
Performance: 10/10 Staging: 10/10 Vocals: 10/10 Lyrics: 10/10 (Controversial because it borders on being political, but I don't care.) Song: 10/10 (Because of the controversy this song gets lot of undeserved hate, but the song itself is musically very good if you analyze it.)
We never learn from our mistakes. For all these people out there who support wars, violence and crimes. Whatever pain you cause it comes back to you, it follows you in every step. Never forget that
I have loved the songs that you are reviewing since I heard them performed at the Contest, but watching your reactions makes me love them even more. I am binge-watching everything on your channel :D
That intro... Amazing XD ! Although you might want to shorten it a bit ;) 1944 was such an emotional song. I feel goosebumps each time I listen to it. 2016 was a strong year, but I think the right song won. Please react to other songs from the previous years !
I would, because at the time of the contest I didn't know the lyrics and the meaning of the song. And I don't speak Crimean Tatar, so the chorus was a complete mystery to me. I was blown away that night, but I understand it can throw some people off. I much prefer an artistic and intimate performance, but it's not the case for everyone. For me Russia was a mediocre song with an amazing staging, so I'm glad it didn't win. It still is a song contest, although the performance is key. Australia was really good, but the lyrics didn't do anything for me, compared to Ukraine it was really bland. For me, a winner must have good lyrics and an interesting theme. It has to bring something new. Jamala sang perfectly, the staging suited the meaning and the composition showcased the emotions of the song. Everything blended together, for me it was the winner. Though I'm more into rock/metal so I was backing Cyprus that year ^^
I love this song and the Turkish parts make me proud every time, i wish there will be a piecefull world and everyone lives in harmony, loves from Turkey.
She is amazing, the song is amazing, the staging is amazing. And what most people didn't realise is this is EXACTLY the sort of super cool, contemporary, edgy, music that Jamala creates. Was so amazed when 1944 won. It was special from the time it was leaked before the Ukrainian national final. It was performed well during that final. And then it was taken to an entirely different level for the Eurovision itself.
Thanks, Jake! 😊 Yep, Jamala is from Crimea and it's a story about her family. It was a huge scandal with Russia after Ukraine won. Russia took third place btw, and Australia - 2nd. You can watch Russia's perfomance to compare all three top songs. I've seen a lot of rections where Jamala wasn't understood at all and people were like "how could this beat Russia". I mean Sergey is a great artist with huge experience and his performance was great but for me Jamala's feeling of the song and the message were totally over the top. But to be honest I didn't think that Europe would understand and like the song and performance that much so it could win. Funny thing is that every time we win, the next year we send songs that in the end of the day appear to be in the end of the list 🙄 I'm from Ukraine btw. So jic contestant from Russia is Sergey Lazarev with a song "You Are The Only One".
Thank you for your reaction. I like it so much. Ukraine is really rich in talented people. And if you are reacting to the contestants from previous years, then I can advise you to react to the participant from Ukraine in the 2007. I'm sure, you haven't seen anything like that before. You will be surprised and have fun. Fans of Eurovision still cann't forget that performance.
I came to your videos to watch your reaction to Ieva Zasimauskaitė and now I'm staying because you have really great content :) greetings from Lithuania!
Little bit about the song's story. This hasn’t been just Jamala family tragedy but tragedy of whole Nation. Whole native population of Crimea (Tatars) was deported to Siberia in 1944 during one night. Some sources say during three days - 18 - 21 May of 1944. People were gathered with no any gears or belongings and squeezed into cargo railway carriages. Many died on the way, others couldn't come home for ever. Those fighting for their rights were killed or jailed. Song is about not to happen such kind of violence. Technically Jamala is very strong singer but this song haven't revealed her talent. The song has been written by Jamala as I know.
Thank you for another great reaction video. I'd personally like to see you react to the other winner songs of the past years as well. In my opinion Austria 2015 with Rise Like A Phoenix by Conchita Wurst is an absolutely must-watch as an Eurovision fan. And then, one of the most popular Eurovision winner songs or Eurovision Songs in general, Sweden 2012 with Euphoria by Loreen. I could name so many other songs but I don't want to overstrain you, you know, life as an Eurovision fan and especially as an Eurovision youtuber is hard sometimes with all those videos to watch. :^) Greetings from Germany, once again P.S. Sorry for not providing you any links for the videos mentioned but since I don't know which videos are available in the U.S. and which not I thought it would probably be easier if you just look them up yourself :)
You were on my table...in Gran Canaria while ago(couple month ago). In Bahia Feliz, at the Sultan restaurant. I was your waiter.😊 Eugene, from Ukraine🤗 hiiii
