Azerbaijan was hosting in 2012, so I guess that's probably why she didn't end up even higher. Possibly the best entry from a host-nation in the last 10 years.
The male backing vocalist was incredible! Sabina came 4th in 2012 (she is flawless), Loreen won that year for Sweden with Euphoria xD I miss those years of Azerbaijan...
You are literally telling my thoughts! The one from Azerbaijan that had won was not so impressive, but this one is one of my favorite songs from Eurovision. It has a special spirit and Sabina's vocals, appearance and ability to express the right mood sometimes bring me to tears. This is one of the most underrated songs from the Eurovision.
Bravo, what a voice! How beautiful she is! What a great song ...It's nice to hear again... Jake, you look like you're enjoying in these new challenges :D
im honest, i saw the face in youtube but never played this song, and really made me cried , because of the beautiful melody, voice and the male voice gave me nostalgic ,i dont know, GREAT AZERBAYAN,
Çok büyük ses Dimashdan sonra dinlediğim en güçlü türk kökenli ses gerçekten Kadin şarkıcılardan ise dünya çapında sohyang(hernryse) onunla yarışır Mükemmel ya
Azerbaijan, the host country in 2012, came 4th with 150 p. Loreen from Sweden won (372p), the Russian baking grandma's came 2nd (259p) and Željko from Serbia came 3rd (214p).
Probably no one in this century could beat Loreen. Her song was praised by all the critics and called one of the greatest Eurovision hits ever. But another question is: how did Buranovskiye Babushki manage to beat it? Sometimes I totally agree with the results, sometimes I don't understand them at all. That's why I can't accept "Toy" to be a winning song. I can't be objective about Verka Serduchka, cause she's from my country and I really believed in her victory that night, but usually I prefer the serious entries to the freaky ones. Right now I'm really looking forward to watching your reaction to the first ever Azerbaijan's performance on the ESC stage: Elnur and Samir - Day after day (2008), as far as I concerned.
not to start any kind of fight, but... to be quite honest, I never understand it when people think of Buranovskiye Babushki as a "freaky entry". I don't think they were ever intended as something shocking - this is genuinely the kind of music that they usually perform, with the addition of some English chorus to connect with the Eurovision audience, and just because they're old and perform ethnic music doesn't mean that they are freaks, that their music doesn't belong at Eurovision or doesn't deserve a high placement. Party for Everybody was a good song, imo, and, yes, it was unusual for Eurovision, but that's exactly why it first stood out and attracted attention - and the rest was done by the genuinely good quality of the entry. Old ladies singing ethnic music can be great performers and be well-liked, it's not like typical Eurovision pop is the only good music there is.
One of the few great Azerbaijani entries! You should also react to 2008, 2009, and 2010 entries! See, I don’t hate all Azerbaijani entries! Gotta give credit where credit is due. ☺️
Jake, could you please react to the entry of Dihaj (Azerbaijan, 2017)?)) I have requested reacting to it many times since I suppose it was robbed that year. I think there is something in common in the style of Dihaj and our singer Melovin that the jury fail to appreciate.
Once again, thanks for the videos Jake! :D It as Loreen from Sweden who won in 2012.. ;) I would be so happy, if these entries could be put into your pot! :D See you next time! Denmark 1957 (this entry still hold a record of the longest kiss - just saying!) Denmark 1963 Denmark 1989 Denmark 1995 Italy 1964 Italy 1990
Hi jake! I specifically remember one song from Sweden in 2010 that didn't even make it to the finals. The song is Road Salt and was preformed by a group called Pain of Salvation. To me that was a fantastic song. And I Would love for you to hear it, and react to it.
One way to help you remember who won in what year is to try to work backwards from where the contest was hosted in the following year. It certainly helps me.
I am still sincerely sure that if they had performed the ethnic version of the song, they would have won. Check this - When the Music Dies - Ethnic Version
