Rare footage - Portugal's Eusébio scores 3 goals in a world cup qualifier against Turkey - scoring his first international hat-trick, a feat that he would repeat only once, a year later, against North Korea.

Tavy@ eusebio was a brilliant player. I always thought he played like pele and they both had the same build and height. But i wouldnt put eusebio in my top 5 greatest ever players. But when i was age 9 in 1982 i was mesmerised as i watched '100 great sporting moments' and it was about eusebio scoring 4 brilliant goals in the 1966 world cup against north korea who were winning 3-0 at 1 stage. Then eusebio just hammerd in 4 great goals to beat them 4-3, it was great to watch. And becouse it was played at goodison park, home ground to everton back then made it look so much better. I said to my dad "who is that player dad? he is brilliant" and my dad said "thats eusebio what a player he was. The black panther" a laughed and said "why is that what they called him dad" and ma dad said "yes" and a thought pele was brilliant as well. Then when a saw george best i knew i was watching some one who was diffirent just by the way he scored hes goals and made me laugh in sheer admiration. George best was the first player to make me laugh when i first saw that famous lob he did against spurs and big pat jennings at the stretfored end in 1971. About 3 months after i saw clips of pele then eusebio play. I had never saw any one score a goal like that before, never. I saw the ball being crossesd over and into the box and big pat came rushing out to punsh it clear and if he wouldv did by half a mile lol, if he didnt get challenged in the air, so he only got a weak half a punsh on it. And it fell to george best who was at least 14 yards out from the goal line and at an angle to his left, wich makes it harder btw. And george then just let the ball bounce onto his chest off the wet muddy ground and then just let the heavy old real leather hard ball drop onto his right foot then just casualy lobbed it over every one. With pat jennings cought between coming and going and about on the 6 yard line, while phil beal and cyril knowles were standing on the goal line but 5 to 6ft apart. Exhibiting sublime execution gauged to the very inch. Pat jennings said to phil beal and cyril knowles as he walked into the goal to pick the ball up "no one will ever do that again" as phil and cyril and the others just looked at the ground with nothing to say, no one to blame, becouse no one had made any mistakes or were too slow. They just had to accept it was a piece of footballing genius, that some times you and the team can only stand and watch now and again. In those days even the hardest players ever to kick a ball even respected true genius when they saw it. Wich is why george best was the greatest player in the world by miles between 1965 to 1972. Easy, pele didnt even come close!!! To make it easier? Switch it around for a moment in your head and imagine george best playing for brazil from 1950 to 1970 and pele playing for northern ireland for 10 years? Ye wouldnt have even heard of pele. Never mind saying he was the greatest. What nonesense, yes he was a brilliant player pele, but he wasnt like best. Best played to and for the crowd just as much for the team! He wanted to send the crowd home happy, even if he lost! Can you imagine that today? Becouse i cant, all they want is more money, 150,000 a WEEK isnt enough for most of them, and they cant even kick with both feet lol
I disagree by 1969 , they were already a few footballers that had overtaken him namely Gianni Rivera , Beckenbauer , Muller , Cruyff and Riva they were simply more consistent than George Best at this point time . For all the skill George had his prime was quite short . And after 1969 he wasn’t the same player . And again consistency was always massive issue with him , he was like the Ronaldinho of his day bags of talent and able to pull of a worldie of a performance one day , but have absolute shocker the next game .
@@HarmsFootball you are such a great person. Thank you! I hate so called 'copyrights' which the owner will never let people see how great players were.
Tavy@ to harms. Harms this is great stuff btw. Eusebio was a brilliant player with so much skill and he knew where that net was! He played alot like pele i thought, and maybe just as good. Thats one of the reasons i have always put him above cruyff and cruyff won the european player of the year 3 years in a row. But at a time when pele and eusebio and even george best had stopped playing serous football. So he didnt have much competion. But thancks for the upload harms, great stuff.
@@alanmctavish4802Cruyff didn't win 3 Ballon d'Or in a row, you might be thinking of Platini in 1983,84,85. Cruyff won the award in 1971,73,74... Beckenbauer won it in 1972.
