EV Evolve 50 Test with NO 18" Sub

Read full description. All these years I was use to using 1 or 2 18" subwoofer for every gig. Not anymore. I decided to give a run without an 18 because most of the time people say the bass is too loud. Well I'm glad i did. Since the Evolve 50's 12"sub is on the floor,in my opinion,together they sound like an 18" sub. Time to work smart and not hard folks. I love these speakers

The sound is great out front, nice and full. I noticed when the videographer moves to the back stage area you appear to no monitors. The you lose the highs "on Stage". I would think you could put the EV50s behind the band with no feedback issues since column arrays have little feedback issues. Then you can hear what your audience is hearing out front. I'm impressed. I am seriously thinking about getting the EV30M for my solo act...

you use 4 at a gig? not two? Why is that?

@@caolanmaher5907 depends on the size of the gig and room and how I want things to sound. I own many different and two will not always at some gigs but at most gigs they're all i need.

I think the band is really great..... I'd love to try this system with Vocals/Tracks/E-Kit, that how I run my solo gig... I bet it would be really great...

You are using an electronic drum set, with no amps, and in ear monitors? I'm in a rock band, I wish I could get them on board with this kind of change. It would do wonders for our sound.

That's exactly the setup we use and it works wonders. The guitarist and I both run through a Fractal FX-III, all in-ear monitors with a Roland electric drum kit and we can play at almost a whisper, yet still sound like a high quality stereo. Not to mention the reduced setup time without killing ourselves to load in or out.

Thanks for posting these videos. I use a single EV50 for my acoustic gigs and its fantastic. Best $$ ive ever spent. 1 quick question with the set-up. What electric kit is that and are all the instruments just running direct into a mixer and then out through the speakers? Apart from effects pedals for the guitar obviously. Would love to get a 2nd EV50 and run a 3piece band direct into a mixer and not have to worry about single amplifiers for guitar and bass.

He uses an 18” sub to supplement in the center if he needs more for a larger room he has another video showing that sound. But you can turn the sub up on EV50 as well.
