This channel is about documenting things I learned that were not in the manual. This video is part of the rebuilding the TR6 engine playlist, and is about how to identify, evaluate, and some replacement issues for the TR6 clutch pressure plate, disk, and throwout bearing. If you have ever gone down this path, you know that all the replacement solutions have compromises and issues, even the "Magic Clutch." I point out some things to be careful of that are not that obvious. I also show you the various websites, articles, and books that I found helpful.
Some links I refer to:

When I exported my car from the UK the release bearing seized on the trip. This meant when the car was started at the other end by the wharf staff it tore its way through the clutch release fingers, pulled the release carrier off the fork, through the release pins, and pulled the push rod from the slave cylinder... 20 years later I'm close to putting the replacement in!

I am working on my 1975 TR6 now and saw your channel on Chef Tush's channel. I will now use this info in assessing my clutch. I definitely don't have original as I did replace it back in 1998. The car is apart now so I will look at which components I have and their measurements. I will be doing engine work so will reference your videos there as well. Thanks great work.

I’ve taken a few TR6s apart and have never seen an actual B&B set up...all have been changed out. Sounds like you may have a fairly low mileage car or a carefully driven car based on the condition of your original parts. Great evaluation and your research has saved you some money too! I tend to think that if you can re use original parts in your repairs/restoration you are already ahead of the game as you know many of the aftermarket parts are suspect at best. Thanks for taking the time to make this video for us. Cheers, Tush

It surprised me too. That is part of what motivated me to dig into it. The engine is not very worn at all, but the odometer has 76k miles. The engine was sludgy. The thrust washers though were still in spec. So I guess the PO was careful with the clutch, and I am too.

Just want to let you know that these are useful videos and I am following a few of them with my 74 TR6. I am wondering if the rest of the clutch has a video? The fork, pin etc. Cheers

Thanks Paul. Progress is slow right now as other projects came up. I will be doing a clutch assembly video when I get to it. Appreciate the kind words.

Thank you so much for doing this! I have been wondering about this quite a bit recently. My engine is still in the car and i have clutch parts in a shopping cart and now I have a strategy to evaluate mine. One question though: what are the marks on the inner radii of the RHP bearing? btw; I subscribed yesterday

Hi Charles, welcome to the channel. Let me know what you decide and how it works out? I believe the marks you are talking about are where the fork engages the bearing. From what I have heard from some I respect, those don't matter. The fork is part #14 here www.moss-europe.co.uk/shop-by-model/triumph/tr5-6/clutch-transmission-drivetrain/clutch-systems/clutch-system-tr5-6-1967-76.html

@@triumphrestoration7403 My pleasure! I saw your video on pulling your engine. I had doubts that you had enough room in your shop. :)

@@MrWaalkman LOL. When we built the house, I did a LOT of measuring and figuring.... all around the dimensions of a TR!
