Evander Holyfield, the embodiment of a fighter. Tough as old boots, underrated boxing skill and never stopped coming forward. Undoubtedly one of the best Heavyweights of the last 40 years.
You can understand why he was underrated. He got the lineal belt fighting a fat Buster Douglas. Then he fought a string of fighters way past their primes. Holmes, Foreman and Tyson were all past prime and fat and slow. The Bowe fights were all legit but he lost the first one when Bowe was actually in shape.
I never heard the Real deal pissing dirty... Ppl always want to talk with no proof... Evander wasn't even a real heavyweight he was fighting guy's that weighted in at 250lb and Evander would come in at 215 to 218.. And hold his own .. And he's the only man to be HEAVYWEIGHT champion 4 times!!!
Thats because no one could forget the explosive Tyson of the 80s so they thought he would explode on Holyfield and put him away early but Holyfield proved he really was the real deal. An all-time great no question
Holyfield always has that cynically amused smile on his face when he's in the ring waiting for the first bell. He always looks like a man who takes grim satisfaction in the fight game.
@@hassanx9423 great Trainer thst guy nade the lefdct strategy for Frazier to beat Ali and the perfecto strategy for Norton to beat Ali it seemed to worked 👌
I used to hate Holyfield. Being a big Tyson fan, the reasons were obvious. However, having watched his career again, and putting my bias aside, Holyfield, without doubt goes down as one of the best ever. His stamina, chin, heart, conditioning and toughness truly ranks up there with the best. I salute you Evander!!
I respect Holyfield but I disagree. If you take prime Tyson and match him up against prime Holyfield I think Tyson would knock him out. Tyson in 1988 was a counter puncher himself. He knocked out Spinks with a right uppercut and a left hook that just grazed the top of spinks head. That version of Tyson beats everyone.
And the three other best fighters of the era Tyson Bowe and Lewis he fought seven times. Add Foreman Mercer whe he beat and Moorer who he slaughtered the second time that is quite a resume
@@mattseaman5397 If Evander was on roids than EVERYONE was on roids you can't say with a straight face that he was the only one in the division on roids
He fought Bowe with hepatitis A. He never outweighted any fighter. He is the only 4 time HW champ. GOAT at cruiser. IMHO top 4 HW ATG (Ali, Holy, Foreman, Louis). Biggest determination and heart ever. Great boxing IQ and counterpunching. He's always ready to punch, he's always in the right place, he will make you pay your mistakes. He could beat any HW in history, imho even prime Ali. He's the real deal.
He would never beat ali gtfoh hes a legend dont get me wrong but the guy in his prime struggled with 42 yr old version of Foreman and Holmes who were still good but they were old. He was a very accomplished fighter but he literally struggled with eveyrone including journeymen so there is no way he is a top H2H fighter. Prime versions Vitali, Wlad, Tyson, Ali, Louis, Lewis, Foreman, Holmes, Frazier could all beat him.
As opposed to Lewis who got rematches from McCall and Rahman but would not give Mercer or Klitscho a rematch. I gaureentee part of the judges decision in the first Holy Lewis fight was they knew Holy would not get a rematch
Holyfield was a real warrior, he wasn't afraid to take on anybody throughout his whole career. He was always a professional and always gave it everything he had!
@@thegoat8447 Have to agree here. Watch Ali Shavers. That has to be the greatest example of Ali's sheer toughness. I cringe to think of the brain damage Ali probably suffered as a result of that fight, but man, even when Shavers got him so hard he didn't know what planet he was on, his legs did NOT give out and he fought on, ultimately recovered, and ended the fight in a toe to toe slugfest. Don't get me wrong, Holyfield is any conversation about who had the best chin, most heart, but I think Ali probably wins for chin.
Yep I never understand why he never rates on boxings P4P lists. Man was a natural cruiser weight dropping HW. Look at his CW fights. He was as physically dominate at his natural weight as any fighter in the history of boxing in any division. He fucking wrecked people at his natural weight.
This why Holyfield my Fav fighter of all time. He didn’t duck anyone. Even after the alleged heart condition he didn’t give a crap and still went full steam ahead with his career fighting the best in the business. And too think he unified two weight classes over his career is incredible. Such a good guy too.
Holyfield is my favorite cruiserweight of all time and easily my top 5 heavyweights of all time. Never seen that man throw a sloppy punch. Always accurate, always tight, always technically sound. One of the best boxers to step in the ring!
@@STORMYBMAN maybe...IDK, Rummy also did Championship Profile videos on Mayweather, SRL, Patterson And Marciano prior to doing this one on The Real Deal. You are doing a career profile series on Holyfield. Which is great by the way. Either way I'm glad anytime Holyfield gets his recognition as the great he was. Keep up the good work Stormy.
Wooohooo! Evander seriously gets slept on by some people. I honestly think Evander is amongst the best champs ever. (He dropped Iron Mike with a body shot. Let that sink in. A *body shot* ).
Back in the day NO ONE thought this blown up light heavyweight had a chance against any real heavyweight fighters but he just kept winning and shut up all doubters including me! God bless you Evander Holyfield!
So many legendary fights he took part in. The trilogy with Bowe, his war with Foreman, his comeback against Ray Mercer, the first Tyson fight.... Giving Hasim Rahman elephantiasis of the eye lol. A boxing God .
While I know there are many that fit this description, there are two people that exemplify the desire to win the most to me. Evander and Ray Leonard. I remember Ray against Hearns, in which he fought back with great determination to win. He could have gave up. Evander was that way in everything he did in the ring. Pure desire to win
What an amazing career. Went on far far too long he should have called time after the ruiz fights but to be fair he was still holding his own right up until getting robbed by the big stiff Valuev even though he was a shell of the mid 90s animal. I have him top 8 all time heavy; a hard nights work for any in history.
Again rummy your technical historical and outright professionalism in your analysis of these god's of the sport I love is outstanding I thank you and please keep it up for future generations

Rummy it is always a pleasure to watch your videos and listen to you. You are unpretentious and objective in your opinions which are not a common traits.
That fight with Qawi was a classic. Holyfield hit Qawi with everything but the kitchen sink and he still would not go away. Holyfield proved that he had a chin too. Heck of a fight. Qawi was a really tough & underrated fighter. He does not get talked about nearly enough.
All I remember at that young age was there was this Big boxer who just turned champion thanking God and talking practicing abstinence...talk about class.
Not only could he punch but he could seriously take a good dig as well that made him a special fighter, there was times where he got caught with a big bomb but not only did he take the punch but he punch back and that's special, plus he didn't duck anyone he fought them all, i.m.o he's underrated, he should be talked about more as a tremendous fighter who was always fit even in later fights and always gave his all,, America should give him more merit, build statues of the man.lol a true fighting man
you should make a 2000s or 2010s heavyweight chronologie video. People would really like that, plus it would educate people about the scene preceding the current heavyweight scene.
