About early high caliber guns in aviation, there is Japan. The Japanese interceptors. The second aircraft has a 20mm, fourth has 37mm and seventh has 75mm. The Japanese have a 75mm gun on aircraft a rank lower. I know, Italy has the 102mm gun in the same spot the Yak-9t is, but I don't like (I mean I am tired of) the ju 87. Of course yak's total firepower against airplanes beats the single 75mm on ki-109. However I think shooting a little unsuspecting plane is more satisfying than getting a kill with an agile fighter with better firepower than its opponent. Killing someone only because of luck or with a weapon not supposed to hit the target feels better than killing someone with a precise, reliable weapon (shooting down a plane using a tank main gun vs shooting down a plane using guided missiles) Sorry for the comment's length and uselessness.
just unlocked the Yak-9T some time ago,love it.even tho i dont have the cannon modification yet and the shells are flying as straight as boris after a night in bar
@@bullshitdepartment use Z for toggle zoom that's what I have at least and I've had it like that since 2013 but experiment a little and find what works best for you also have 12.7 on one button and the 37mm on the other, You will save ammo and get more kills
It poses no problems, I see the 9T being used up to 10.0 in tanks because of how incredibly strong it is and lets you kill any tank, and in higher tiers it is actually easier since in most cases 3 out of 4 crew members are in a turret so 1-2 shots into it and the tank is destroyed
This is a pretty late comment, but I just wanted to thank you for making this video. I didn't particularly like the 9T after I unlocked it (part of it may have been how much less experience I had with planes back then, though your advice on flying it was a huge help), but you pretty much singlehandedly convinced me to give it a second chance and I'm really happy with it.
@@Damian-03x3 Yeah actually my Bf109 is to intercept aerial targets while my Me410 is for grounds, but now i can use both tp destroy some tanks and earn more SL hehe
(These things also apply to yak 9k. Love them both) Roll on the yak 9t is great. Use it when you face things like spit and zero sometimes. Even if you are able to shoot them and they roll downward. You can still shoot them. I did that once vs a zero. He rolled downward and I did too. I realized it was fast at rolling after the kill I got. Also fight at low alt. Your energy will be very sustainable. While high alt and mid you turn very slow and weak. Avoid head ons at all cost. If you're lucky you can get some kills. But at the same time get your engine hit. Engine is very weak and can't take many hits so thats why. Overall this plane is nice and I loved to grind with it
In addition, the 37 HE belts could be used when the sky is filled with enemy planes. It's a somewhat risky choice but it saves you from overpens and the frustration of not one-shotting enemy planes =)
Honestly, the 37mm does so little damage against tanks that I just forget about them entirely and just one-tap fighters and bombers using the HEFI-T ammunition. With that ammo you'll rarely ever need more than one shot and it's soooo satisfying to kill a plane with your first shot. The AP ammo constantly sparks or fails to deal enough damage to planes so I honestly recommend not using it if you want to engage aircraft.
I normally take out the Yak-9T at 5.7 matches for a completely different reason: to deal with P-47s, Spitfires and P-51s fast and effectively. Normally I struggle when I aim. And now I really wish I could get the Yak-3T which also has a 37mm at 5.7 although I might prefer the Yak-9T over it.
Dude you think Yak-9T is good? Get your hands on the Lagg-3-34, it has the same cannons as the 9t at 2.3 BR, and at 2.3 BR? It might as well be a tactical nuke launcher, anything you point that sucker at its gonna die. Its actually not bad as a fighter at its BR, not as agile as a Yak but its a good B&Zer and you really only need to connect once with that cannon. Oh did I mention it gets 6 more cannon rounds than the 9T? For those that want it and don't want to pay stupid prices for it in the gaijoob store? They usually offer it around Xmas in a bundle with the Il2 Avenger and Pe-2-205. The 205 is just meh, its okay as a bomber hunter or for a quick drop and run (although it does get 10 rockets if you are good with them) but the Il2 avenger is god like, that thing paid for all my jets, ended up making like 24 mil lions with that baby, its like an SL credit card and its got a ton of bomb and rocket options so great in air RB and in GF. Last time the bundle was offered I think it was like $23 USD? Well worth it IMHO, all 3 are useful and the 34 is downright trolly.
He219 is better because its faster and it has better guns with good penetration and much ammo and radar BUT isn't too good in turn fight.. It's premium (cost is big but it's powerfull)

i must be sincere, i did not know how to ground dive with the 37mm canons, but god, in ground rb, id slaughter fighter and cas alike, shot down 2 p-47s, and died to the 3rd cuz i missed him
I personally prefer the Yak-3. It's a monster and in Tank RB, everyone stays under 4km altitude, what means that almost no one can outrun you and you don't have to dive that often, which is one of its biggest weaknesses. Like all Yaks it has almost no amour and no that much ammunition, but I just love this thing. With the Yak 3, you can eliminate everything, from prop planes to supersonic jets. Good video you did there!
This plane is also insanely good in Air RB. It's hilarious watching a thunderbolt go headon with you. At 1.7km, aim for the dot below their name, tap about 2 shells their way, and evade. Most likely option, they fucking EXPLODE. It's also very good in dogfights :)
