Watching a KV have the awkward problem of failing ot penetrate an M4 Sherman with the AP ( it might only be 50mm or so on the very front, but it is heavily sloped...) would make for bad videos
@@RedShocktrooperRST aim for the view port you'll kill iy every time usually they can't pen you unless they aim for your port (also fun fact if you flank a Sherman aims right behind that little box on there side that's usually where they have some ammo)
@@lordinquisitorjohn1357 i have shot the view port of 1 sherman with a kv1 at 50meters distance and it wasnt angled but the shell didnt pen i think there is kinda bugged it is 26mm and a video of bo time gaming shows the same gun of a panzer 4 f2 hitting there and not penning
@@martimnunesmartinho6788 Hm ive never had that happen to me if you were using AP rounds it should have pend. Not sure what round you were using but AP to the view port pens me and other KVs when im playing other nation every time. Thats a bit odd.
Also seems pretty strange, so far I only managed to kill 1 KV-1 and that's because I shot at his horizontal drive/ring which is basically the only weak-spot I could find.
PsychicRearden Shoot at machine gun when directly infront of the KV-1, guarantee 1 shot with APHE if you do it right, else flank it and shoot at the front upper side slit, another 1 shot spot. KV-1s are easy to kill once you learn all of their weak spots. Many scrubs choose the KV1 because of its "heavy tank" tag and will expose either their side or dont angle themselves when fighting frontally, with exprience you will find that fighting the KV-1 is easy to deal with.
Some more weakspots: Turret cheek, guarantee gunner and loader kill with Panzer F2 or any other 75mm gun. Turret ring: guarantee 1 shot kill with 75mm cannon.
Me too. Ive had m22 pen it. The hull front. sdkfz can pen it. It is not impenetrable at its battle rating. german long 75 pens it ez. sherman as well. The PZ IV H in the video was either an idiot or his gunner died, bc he can one shot through the kv 1.
There is no reason* You can penetrate every single enemy tank you face at that BR, while they can't do anything to you if you angle. Or if they do you still have superb survivability. Just because you have to properly aim doesn't mean it deserves a low battle rating. Another thing to mention is the insane mobility it has for a Heavy Tank.

well i have been in a lot of instances where i defeated kv with panzer 3. you just have to use some tactics and aim well. well i had none of those i just was lucky

When facing Americans and British in a 4.0 uptier, I usually take most APBC and some APHE, maybe shrapnel shells for British AA or Italian sauce pans. APBC will sometimes have enough pen for Shermans, but avoid shooting them at angles, or close range. Try medium range. If you try and dance with American tank platoons, you might not have much luck. With your turtle speed, flank capturing enemies and shoot em’ in the back. Now get out there and defend the motherland comrades! ZA RHODINU!!
KV-1, The best early heavy tank. Not only that most tank at its br cannot penerate it, the KV-1 rounds also cannot penerate most tank at its br. Except for KV85, that thing is a nightmare for non heavy player.

I mean, I'm playing with PZ IV F2 and I don't remember that this tank was impenetrable. I've always blown up the ammunition of KV-1 or at least got all the crew members in turret.
Solid ap also helps you pen shermans frontally, i've played around with the solid ap and the aphe shells with my t 34s. You can also pen t 34s frontally also. The shell listing does not really apply to just kv 1 it applies to early t 34s. But before I thought the L 11 cannon was just useless bc I would bounce so many tanks. But when you read stats. You get to understand what kind of shells are good
Most of KV-1's opponents are tanks with short cannons. Especially in German tech tree. Which makes full caliber rounds that players mostly use have a really low penetration (35-65 few exceptions). While i was playing with the Pz. 4 F1 i faced this tank in battle. Shot it's rear hull and didn't penetrate. Tried rear turret, same result. I said "Screw this!" and got the hell out of there. This is what makes it op for lower BRs
I sweer this tank is so good one time I was a single tank army my team was pretty much dead and I was fasing American tanks so this how it went I began rushing to the point on the Kursk map and I was holding it alone the entire match while my team was doing God knows what because the wear pretty much dead halfway through the match so I realized what I had to do I honkerd down on the point was shooting as fast as I can but there was so many enamy tanks that I could bearly killing them and I almost bounced like a 100 shells and I got like 35 kills because my team was shit but sadly 2 tanks came behind me I kiled one but he somehow disable my track's and turret so I couldn't do anything and we lost the match just. Barely 1 more minute and I would have won and do you know what happened my teammates they were cheering me on and when I lost the turned from nice to mean like what also this was RB
The IS-3 and IS-4M have that one big weak spot on the front of the hull right below the turret, and on the lower left or right side, under the side skirts is like 30mm of armor if memory serves right that if you shoot the bottom back side, you'll probably hit an ammo rack and 1 shot the tank.
Its not invincible. I one shot it many times at the front while using long barreled Panzer IVs like the Panzer IV G,H, and J. So Panzer IVs can definitely kill it. Never mind the tank destroyers in the german line
Eh, ive ammo racked it a crusader using the mark 9 round and also shot it through the left side of the turret with a Sdfkz 23/2. Its killable and most KV players are dumb and think they are unstoppable.
That feel when you play tank destroyer and have to finger your way into the driver visor at point blank due to indestructible bushes all over the tank.
Mistake, APBC is very good, and it should be used often. Good penetration, and superb angled armour penetration since it's armour piercing flat nosed shell with ballistic cap which is way superior to AP, APC or APCBC in this regard. With APBc/APHEBC you can pen T34 frontal hull with 77mm pen APHEBC ,but you can't with 100mm pen APCBC shell.
I like the fact that he says the gun sucks while almost one hit killing every tank he sees. (As a 3.0 Germany player this thing and the m4 annoy me a lot. Cause the only way to pen either is using apcr or spam heat using a heat slingshot)
The Reason Why Such protected soviet tank has low battle rating? 1. Pure Russian Bias 2. Pure Stalin Bias 3. Great vid, but still, it's too high in terms of battle rating in my opinion. The only tank I saw in this video the KV-1 had difficulties penetrating was another KV-1.
some people get made, and i admit, im one of them, at R3's being so op at it's br, but they try to make wt a historically acurate game, so i guess thats why the r3 is where it is, because of when it was used and stuff, and if they increase it's br, it's not as accurate.. but still, they should increase the br a little, not like a whole 2-3 brs
KV-1, historically , didn`t really had any worthy opponent tanks until 1942 and was mainly lost to 88 mm anti-aircraft guns, artillery, air attacks or their own crews abandoning them due to malfunctions

i dont know, maybe you watch videos on small screen (phone) and details look sharp. While watching on pc image looks worse than ingame , because youtube downgrades quality
KV-1 is in the same position as the Sherman Jumbo. Ridiculously good armor for it's BR, but horrible penetration for it's gun. Even then, the Jumbo still has a higher BR than the KV-1. While the KV-1 is far better over all protected, while the Jumbo is far better frontally protected. I think the biggest problem with the KV-1 is even with the standard APHE shells, most tanks including Medium Tanks, 77-60mm of penetration is more than enough to deal with most vehicles you face, to a point that it's kind of unfair, if not absolutely unfair. A lot of them you don't even have to do anything but aim center mass, and 1 Hit KO, because most tanks the KV-1 faces have far less armor than those penetration ratios including frontally, and those that do, well have glaring weak spots like poor turret armor, or for example like the StuG III just aim just above or below the 50 or 80mm frontal hull (counting on model) and you kill everyone in one shot. Mean while everyone including vehicles using 7.5cm L/43 and L/48 guns still have to spend extra time aiming properly to "Not" 1 Hit KO a KV-1, aiming at turret cheeks which are very small targets, or the frontal plate when it's not angled, and again, still normally takes multiple shots every time to take down a KV-1. Issue with this situation is, if the KV-1 gets it's BR upped, well it will end up turning into a slow, sluggish target for far better tanks. It's part of that arms race deal. There is no sweet spot for the KV-1. Put it too high and it's a useless target, but there is no middle ground, so it's set too low in the BR. T-34 has a similar issue, and so does the Sherman Jumbo. Personally, I think the T-34 and Sherman Jumbo need higher BR than they currently have. Jumbo has better armor than a Tiger I, sure it can not penetrate crap and used to often face Tiger Is, but where the Jumbo couldn't penetrate a Tiger I from the front, nor could the Tiger I the Jumbo, it was fair. When they lowered the Jumbo's BR to balance it, well it became OP. T-34 has the mobility to make up for it's penetration though, and I would classify it more as a fast medium similar to a light tank, relying on it's mobility, not firepower to win. I mean PzII Ausf H can take on T-54s for example, why? Because it's mobile and has enough penetration to penetrate them from the flanks/rear. T-34 is mobile, and has more than enough penetration to penetrate tanks from the sides/rear, hence, to me, it shouldn't be in the BR range it is in, definitely with how good it's APHE are at 1 Hitting tanks when it does penetrate. KV-1 could be balanced better if they gave it say, a spotting penalties. T-34 in particular was renowned for having very poor visibility for the crew when it was hatches down. I wouldn't be surprised if the KV-1 wasn't much better. When I mean spotting, in arcade red indicators will not appear as the same ranges as other tanks at their tier, and enemies will vanish entirely from screen in RB if they're not being spotted by anyone else for you. This would still allow both of these tanks to excel in street fighting, but it would help some in lower tier battles allowing people to get closer.
The KV 1 L11 has agun which is better in every aspect than the gun of a CHurchill VII, ista armour, thanks to its buggyness is better in every aspect. Combine that wit hthe fact that the armour has next to no easy weakspot, unlike the churchil VII which can be oneshot killed by any APHE 55+mm round at any range and the fact that the KV is faster than in reality possible. Sowhy is it 3.7 when it is better than a 4.7 HT in every aspekt?
