Regarding moving the Tiqqun, if you are short on battery power. You don't have to make a long move in one. If you can find planets or asteroids on the route to your destination, make 2 or 3 smaller jumps, pausing to recharge batteries on the way.

@@MarcusAndersenn Yes. It's mentioned early on that the engines consume all power production output when running, so you need batteries to take up the slack. You also have the option of simply taking the hit to trust and moving with blackouts. I haven't played long enough to know if that's just "a pain" or "a terrible idea".

That is also a great tip, that has been my preferred method of doing it. I thought I'd mentioned the shutting down of buildings though, since people are generally a tad more impatient than I tend to be in games like this. Great video indeed! thanks for the update! Not early on, but more of a late game thing, I found out that the crop/algae farms require you to deploy "structures" and each of those structures also "uses" workers. And waste really breaks the game in the current iteration, as you can be self-sufficient with waste alone providing you got enough population.

As for the road inside the sector walls, I believe the distance is still traveled, so it can make delivery times take longer if your forklifts need to travel up or down that internal road.

Absolutely correct that it does (I have observed it) - but it's still a really handy tip if you find you need to have a different layout due to building sizes etc in neighbouring sectors.

Hello, great series. Two tips from me as well: 1. Easy to find POI and Research - when the galaxy is open, move mouse slowly and watch carefully, light blue squares are flashing at those points 2. Hovering the food icon on top does provide very useful info (at least for me), how much food do you have in percentage and for how long. I prefer to use it as a base point to know what I have, even without including the current production. The game is great, just for a weekend I did ~20 hours and yes, very similar to Frostpunk, which I also love! However, the thing I don't like in IXION is even less repayable in terms of RNG. It will be could if they add a sandbox play or other mode which allows you to play infinite, or at least some campaigns. Good luck and all the best!
@Caledorn
@Caledorn Год назад
Thank you, and great tips there! When you get further into the game remember that farms and algae farms will skew the numbers you see in the food tooltip, as those does not harvest often enough to factor in the "5 cycle average" in the tooltip though, so you might have to do manual calculations when you get to that stage. 😊
@deredware9442
@deredware9442 Год назад
@@Caledorn I believe this was a reference to the "current average production satisfies X%" part on the food tooltip. Which I have found is quite accurate. If the percentage is 100% or more, you have enough food. It doesn't appear to be based on the "per 5 cycle" calculation.

Here is a tip you haven't had. Want to just mess around. Create a new game, complete the prologue but don't leave it and whenever you are afk, load it up. Put full game speed on and just afk to get tons of research. Then save the game when you get back and whenever you want to play a new playthrough, load your prologue research game and play from there. Having one or two extra researches finished makes a huge difference as you change zones. It also is just plain funny to be watching a show or having dinner and coming back, seeing another 500 cycles have finished and another research is 50% further along. I want to see if I can't get a game where I can get recycling done before leaving the prologue and start stockpiling endless amounts of resources for fun.

@@Caledorn Just need to remember that the game periodically pauses to prevent you from just leaving it on overnight and clearing research in the meantime. I have just 2 saves by doing this and its a bit of fun for when I am streaming netflix or something and I have my computer on anyway. I think I'm currently half way through my third or fourth research doing this, so another 3-5 researches and I'm pretty much as far as I think it would fun to be at to try playing through it.

Good series keep it up. So i have just hit the 25hr mark. on my restart now and feel i have hit a good stable pattern. My tips! MICRO MANAGE Balancing even stockpiles is essential for power and workers. One power cut can hit you hard, there is a random event check marker set up when you go from correctly staffed to "overtime" and "overtime" to over worked. Often producing an incident. so not only are you short on workers but you loose 2-6 to the hospital elongating the issue. As soon as that factory is out of resource shut it down, if you don't need microchips shut the stockpile down it takes a split second to reactivate when you need them. Build things put with the power off, then you can bring them online when you know it safe to not as soon as it is built. Plan an area, pause the game layout all your structures by actually placing them and just destroy them before they start to build till you get your design. Likewise you can reserve a building spot by leaving that building on pause and when you have the resources and workers unpause it. It Costs nothing to have it sat there on pause or to destroy it if you change your mind. A simple but understated tip Build residential in twos, as you will soon be pulling them down to build the tier two house 6x12 Stockpiles can be kind of used when powered down. for example i have three stockpiles feeding the factories i can restock those from shutdown stockpiles (I have spares setup as overflow) by deselecting the resource it is stocking and even powered down they will move the resources out to your active stockpiles. I found filling the ship with Iron ore from chapter 1 to keep your iron factories going took the pressure off chapter two mining. This helps keep a stockpile at 100% rather than two online at 50% Improving your research lab is main priority it makes a 98% improvement. Ships... You can stow ships. you have three active ships but when there are no materials to mine stow the miner and build another hauler, swap them back when its time to mine again. F1-F4 are your friends use them lots shortcuts are a must when micro managing... As soon as i hear the science ship is complete i hit f3 and deal withg them, as soon as i see the alert that the science crew has harvested all the science hit f3 and send them on to the next task.

Thank you! And *that* is a comprehensible list of VERY good tips! Some of them I cover in my first video (I have 3 of them if you haven't seen 😇 Check the pinned comment for the links) The only thing I slightly disagree with you on is the part about keeping a stockpile at 100%. I actually prefer having 2 stockpiles at 50% rather than 1 stockpile at 100% - because that gives me 10 vehicles instead of just 5 (without any tech upgrades to the stockpile, or a higher tier stockpile). 😊

@martinw51
@martinw51 Год назад
Should you ever do another one, you might want to explicitly address Specializations of sectors: Space Specialization will let you profit from considerable bonuses to unloading speed of docks and construction speed of probes and ships, as well as an up to 30%! Bonus to EVA Airlocks in this sector, increasing the amount of hull repair points your alloys can do for your tiqqun. Population specialization allow mess halls to feed more people (That does not change the cost of the food though. It just saves you one mess hall if you needed two before.) It also might be worth mentioning that there is a mighty science upgrade for the mess hall that makes 1 food feed twice as many people, basically halving your food need. (Very usefull later when having loads of people on the tiqqun) Industry specialization makes your batteries last way longer and executes repairs on broken buildings faster. There also is a upgrade for the DLS center, that adds a progress bar, that shows you how far you are away of achieving tier 2 in a sector. So thinking about specialization rather earlier than later is a really good thing to do. Also: deconstructing buildings refunds all the resources. So, never hesitate to optimize should you have some extra time and resources at hand. If you temporarily need space to deconstruct buildings, you can always swap the electronics storage over to alloys while deconstruction and then swap it back to electronics once you are done. Just don't forget the last part ;) Thanks for these remarkable videos! They are really useful. :)

Sector specializations are a game changer - space sector should be rushed as 3rd sector imho. Especially Space Tier 2: Docking Bays load/unload resources 30% faster. Probes and Ships are built 30% faster. Hull repairs are 20% more effective. You can chill with 1 EVA even in 3rd chapter with that. Recycling is another awesome one: Tier 1 - Recycling buildings produce 30% more resources. Stability penalty from Waste accumulation reduced by 50%. And for tier 2 - (hard to get) Food production buildings produce 15% more Food. Industrial buildings work 30% faster.

Two other tips: If you hover over the food icon on the resource bar it will tell you how many meals you have stored and how much of your food requirement you are producing as a 100% . Tip 2, you cannot move melted water from the fusion plant. If you dismantle the fusion plant all stored water is lost.
@Caledorn
@Caledorn Год назад
Very good tips indeed! Thank you! Also, be a bit wary of the /5 number on the lower part of the tooltips for the resources. I noticed that it showed "5 /5 cycles" Polymer production, which can be a bit misleading. I know it's showing the production rate over the past 5 cycles, but when I was producing 5 per cycle (basic Polymer Refinery production without upgrades), I kind of feel the tooltip should say "25 / 5 cycles". The devs may intend the number as the sustained average per cycle over the last 5 cycles though, but that seems a bit tedious to understand for me with the way it's written..

Is there anything that can be done about Space Weather? I may have advanced through the solar systems too quickly but I have a situation where a passing system wide storm envelops the ship and I am unable to move any ships or the main ship without losing them/dying soon after, its a hefty distance to travel (6 cycles and some change). Without regular iron shipments the alloy machine shuts down and burns through what stock i do have trying to maintain things while hoping the storm will pass. I've gone about 40 cycles and the storm just stays put, even going so far as to deconstruct everything I can just to keep my hull above the breaking point but the storm simply will not move any further. Am i doing something wrong? or am I missing something? Seems like I've hit a brick wall
@Caledorn
@Caledorn Год назад
Ouch. Yeah. That's a rough one. I haven't experienced that part myself yet - even in my "shadow save" that I'm playing on the side of my LP series. But I know it's coming. If you've already in it, you may find yourself in a death spiral without being able to save the Tiqqun. However... 1. Move the Tiqqun out of the storm. 2. I believe the Hull tech upgrade "Kinetic Compensation Jacks" helps the Tiqqun resist things like lightning strikes better. That's speculation on my part though. 3. Mining Ships have the tech upgrade "Self-Welding" which makes them more resistant to space weather. 4. Cargo Ships similarly have the tech upgrade "Improvised Repair Protocols" which does the same as #3. 5. If you find yourself completely starved of Alloys, but you still have hope of getting out of the storm, then dismantle buildings (not the Steel Mills though - you need those to restock and rebuild after the move) to get emergency alloys from that. That's the best tips I can give here. If the ENTIRE system is enveloped in the storm, and you have no move points you can get the Tiqqun to to get out of it, then you can either hope that the storm passes before you run out - otherwise your only other option left is to reload an earlier save and make sure to stock up a lot more Alloys before you move into the Chapter this happens in.

Super minor thing: You mispronounced Caesar. The correct pronunciation is Kaiser. The title 'Kaiser' was directly inspired by the legendary man hinself. Therefore, it would be pronounced Kaiser Cipher, not Seizer Cipher. Furthermore, at that point in history, the modern pronunciation of 'C' did not yet exist. All Cs were pronounced like Ks at that point in Latin's history. I hope you find this as intriguing and fascinating as I did.
