Everton do their bit by hammering the Saints at Goodison Park - but Liverpool's 1-0 win at Chelsea on the same day takes the title away from the Blues and back across Stanley Park.
That was one hell of team, they were tough, solid but had the flair and creativity and deadly up top. Should of stayed together a bit longer but wasnt too be. Linekar should of stayed longer imo but kendall had other ideas. COYB!! Keep the faith blues!!
I’d love a prime Degs mountfield playing for Everton now , as I write this we are In 16 place in the prem 2022 there’s a very real chance they could get relegated
Heysel. The most disgraceful episode in English football by the Red Shi/te. Blighted all top level teams for five years. That stain will never be bleached or forgotten. EFC could have gone on to win the European Cup that year and who knows what else ...denied again in '87.
@@terrybennett4993 Of course...but at least we do not have the stain of murderers on on our history ever. I love the arrogance of the Red Shite for calling us bitter when there will be mothers/fathers/sisters/brothers and children still bearing the grief of that disgusting night. The LFC self regard knows no ends. You even managed to ruin yourselves via your crowd rush behaviour at Hillsborough.
At that time I was a red, my (then) girlfriend was a blue, so I would go with her when Liverpool played away. We were in the upper bullens road stand (the best view in Goodison Park) Everton getting one goal after another (and some shouts of Liverpool loosing) me being very quiet ... I go to the toilet for a wee, and a guy next to me (with a pocket radio ear peice) says to me "Fucking Hell Liverpool have just scored" inside I'm made up BUT I have to say Lets hope Chelsea come back at them. I felt sorry for my (then) girlfriend as she went to the F.A. Cup Final with me in the Liverpool end ... we parted in 87. So even though I'm from/living in Liverpool, Tranmere Rovers was my second team ... as I was getting stick from many people on Who Do You Really Support??? I made a dicision on the 1st of January 1990 ... it was Tranmere Rovers. So when I went back to Goodison Park on that Wonerfull F.A.Cup day in 2001 I was in the upper bullens Rd again and This Time I could show my true allegiance!.
MAN.EVERTON WASTED SO MANY CHANCES TO BEAT LOWER TABLE SIDES..TOO LATE NOW AGAINST SOUTHAMPTON.GOAL DIFFERENCE WAS NO GOOD! AND LIVERPOOL WON JUST 1-0 AWAY AT CHELSEA TO WIN THE LEAGUE TITLE!
Weird end to the season. Everton should have been and probably were even better in 85/86 than the year before with Lineker up top. They should have won it but had some odd, crap defeats and Liverpool were relentless.
same with van niselroy at utd. think they only won one league in his five years there. win three on the bounce after he left. suppose you got to give likes of chelsea and invincibles more credit not just say united or 86 everton lost it themselves
