Turkey giving Armenia 12 points is a big surprise, considering how the two countries relations have historically been a mix of "ehhh" to outright dark and depressing. (Although the thaw happening between the two countries is very good)

Er keken destijds (2008/2010) amper Nederlanders naar het festival omdat het niet populair was. Die mensen stemden dus ook niet, en was het aandeel Nederlandse Armenen die keken (& stemmen) dus groter.

Sven W From what I can understand, it was sort of the same reason countries like Greece or Turkey got high votes from western countries like the UK, France, and Germany (and the Netherlands and Belgium). Interest was lower than before so the diaspora made sure their acts did ok. But some of it could’ve also just been those entries appealing to the Dutch and Belgians and whatnot.
