Idea: every ten years you send 1 person from each civilisation to the arena to fight, and the person who wins gets a bunch of good traits, no bad traits, and gets sent back to their kingdom. The catch? You don’t remove their madness. You want the random person selected to not be the winner. This will also mean the strongest kingdom will usually get the person with madness.

Gorg, I reccomend a game you should play, Ages of Conflict. It's a world war simulator game, were you spawn nations and make the fight to the death. The game is available on Steam.

I think age is like a probability thing. The older they get the higher the chance is that they die of old age. That would explain why sometime they die really young and sometimes they love a long time.
