AJ Styles vs John Cena was definitely the feud of the year. I stopped watching WWE from 2013 until the brand split in 2016. That was a really good brand split and SmackDown was amazing.
I was at the first smack down PPV, backlash. It was the first and only wwe live show I’ve even been to. I saw AJ in impact a few years earlier and also got to see Kurt angle and others. It was really cool to see AJ win the championship though at backlash
2016 will possibly be the most underrated year for a long time. Mostly because Smackdown was so amazing with good feuds, so many incredible matches and especially complete shows that made you excited for the next week. You could tell how Vince was pissed off that the "B show" was so much better. It's sad how this time won't get any praise, because delusional people always compare the worst of today to the best of the Attitude Era.
I was at Battleground 2016 and what a show it was! I’m surprised you didn’t mention the DEAFENING pop Bayley got for her debut on the main roster as Sasha’s tag partner. It was a great night for sure
That’s 5 v 5 was amazing! Goldberg vs Lenser was also such a great moment too. Definitely the peak of Goldberg’s wwe run. The cruiserweight title and ic title matches were also both diamonds in the rough.
2016 was basically modern WWE's version of the Attitude Era going through Y2K. A really good year overall with excitement throughout and few duds that happened to include the WrestleMania of that year.
Hi lads hope you see this comment. I wanted to say thank you for everything you’ve done to help my mood from what culture to Cultaholic over these past 5 or so years. Adam, Ross, Jack, Sam, Tom Thank you guys for the content that you produce everyday for us undeserving people! ♥️👍
Darrion Gray raw was at least watchable because of Jericho and Owens SD and nxt were great and we had some great promos and brand exclusive PPvs helped too to get more storyline’s
Brock Lesnar is pretty much the best I mean I believe that was his first the worst is Curtis Axel because even though he won Intercontinental Championship like his Hall Of Fame father Mr Perfect making them the only and first father/son to hold the same title
@@tehjmoney2604 I disagree, technically Heidenreich was a Paul Heyman guy and atleast Axel won a championship while Heidenreich, well not even Heyman could help him.
It is funny to watch these videos, and to see how the Internet changes reaction wise. Like I remember at the time everyone said Dolph versus The Miz was the best at no mercy 2016.
2016 was my first year as a wwe fan. I’ll never forget my first PPV battleground, seeing some guy called AJ styles beat John Cena, Kevin Owens friendship with Chris Jericho and Goldberg squashing Brock lesnar. In the years since I don’t feel WWE have ever topped when I first got involved.
Smack down was amazing in 2016; the Heath Slater free agent storyline was amazing, Miz/Ziggler and Ambrose/Styles was fun to, and James Ellsworth was great (if overexposed by the end of the year) when he was on. The first Raw of the brand split was class to, loved Banks/Flair and Balor becoming a No 1 contender, with the Owens/Jericho friendship being loads of fun
AwesomeToes I remember becoming a huge mark for James Ellsworth but hated him so much after about 6 weeks. I liked what he did with carmella tho. Raw started out brilliant under the brand split but got a little stale towards the end of the year.
@Asad Fahiem sorry but your opinion is 💩 2011 was really really bad and poring the 2 things i remember from it is triple h vs undertaker at wrestlemania and john vs punk at money in the bank
When CM Punk was mistreated in 2013, I stopped watching wrestling. AJ Styles' arrival in 2016 made me come back. During that year, I found WWE had a roster so deep and talented I was seriously convinced we were about to enter a true new era where little to nothing would go wrong. Boy, was I so naïve...
Is it me or was In a way 2016 was a bit of a career resurgence of WWE and them opening the doors for Indy stars to come in? Well played Daddy Full Sail
I got back into wrestling in 2016 and the first show I watched was Battleground. That show will always be special to me and Zayn vs. Owens was incredible.
I got back into wrestling just after Battleground in 2016 so all the PPVs after that are really fun for me. But especially Survivor Series! I remember disliking Survivor Series when I was younger cause I just wasn't a fan of tag team wrestling. But the Men's 10-man Survivor Series match from 2016 might be the best ever, and Brock vs Goldberg was such a great surprise. Great show.
15. Fastlane 14. Roadblock end of the line 13. Wrestlemania 32 12. Summerslam 11. Money In The Bank 10. No Mercy 09. Hell In A Cell 08. Clash Of Champions 07. TLC 06. Survivor Series 05. Payback 04. Extreme Rules 03. Backlash 02. Royal Rumble 01. Battleground
Battleground had the best preshow match that I can think of. My first live ppv and the Usos had residual Roman heat. Breezango was just starting to take off and the crowd was super behind them. Amazing show
AJ vs Cena, Sami vs Owens, the first year the women's division were actually given time, and the year where the IC Title actually mattered. 2016 was a good year.
WrestleMania 32 was underwhelming but it was the Women's night because we had the last ever Divas' match and the first ever Women's match and both were amazing
Wasn't the Roman ,Aj styles an Extreme rules match? In all seriousness though what is the difference between a nodq, Extreme rules and no holds barred match?
Wm32 was the only PPV I turned off early I was not a fan of the Roman experiment, however I always thought he’d be a better heel and when he came back in 2020 I knew it was gonna be gas
1. Summerslam 2. Survivor Series 3. Hell In A Cell 4. Backlash 5. No Mercy 6. Clash Of Champions 7. Royal Rumble 8. Money In The Bank 9. Extreme Rules 10. Battleground 11. Wrestlemania 32 12. TLC 13. Payback 14. Roadblock End Of The Line 15. Fastlane
2016 - People talked most about Daniel Bryan's retirement (cough cough SmackDown Live GM cough cough), the return of Goldberg and the debut of AJ Styles. Shane McMahon: Is my return a joke to you? I mean, (me speaking BTW), that was like, the largest pop of 2016 along Cena and Austin, HBK and Foley at WrestleMania 32.
I am under the firm belief that 2016 was one of the greatest years in wrestling history. Every single month had something amazing/historic happening, and the stupid wasn't too bad. It even capped the end of the Roman reigns saga, and proves that if he shuts up and beats people up, he isn't that bad
I actually thought Miz vs. Ziggler at No Mercy was better than the triple threat title match. Being there live might have helped; the interferences and heel work from Miz and Maryse kicked it to a new level.
You said Roadblock was filler, but the end of the new day record-breaking reign, the historic womens ironwoman match, and Neville's return say different tho
