2002 was interesting. The end of the Attitude Era & the Birth of Ruthless Aggression Era. RAW & SmackDown were more watchable because of Roster Exclusivity.
@rubatahmed353 Honestly nah. It had a great Rock vs. Hogan match, but the main event fell flat, Austin vs. Hall was underwhelming, and Booker T and Edge were fighting over fake shampoo.
I never hear anyone talk about survivor series 2002. It's such a fantastic PPV. The main event was really long-meaning all the matches prior were relatively shorter- which gave the show so much energy.
I actually prefer it to Summserslam 2002. Plus the legendary madison square garden venue with the entrance facing the hardcam. Good Times man, good times 🥲
2002 was the first proper year I started watching wrestling freely as a teenager. I loved this year and Smackdown was my show. The Smackdown 6 were the GOATS
@@kieranedwards1172 I'm really not, don't get me wrong they had some amazing talent on display. But half of the big stars that started the year, would leave the company before 2003. Not to mention not a single world champion felt like a dominent threat for both brands, the only good world title matches all year being matches with more than 2 people involved... Hell we even had Hogan as champ again for a few weeks... Seriously you actually think 2002 was the BEST? 🤔😅😂
What a year. The WWF becomes the WWE..Cena, Mysterio, Orton, Lesnar, and Batista all debut, brand split, Stone Cold leaves, great year for PPVs, strong roster, NWO and Hogan return, HBK returns...so much to speak of.
Chris Jericho/Christian was a tag team i really loved at the time. Like they had the kinda chemistry you only get with talented dudes trying to get themselves really over, and it worked for me. Christian is also probably the guy who deserved better the most in wwe.
Just seeing the thumbnail makes me miss the Undisputed/WWE Championship belt. The last world title to actually look like a world title save for the Big Gold Belt.
Nice! I just posted that it was my first live PPV (though not my first live event). It really was a great show from top to bottom. Where were you sitting?
I was in attendance for Backlash and I was hoarse for three days after the main event. It was my first ever show and I was a Hogan mark at the time. Sure some of the matches were bad (looking at you Hall and Bradshaw) but I got to see Stone Cold in one of his last matches ever.
Just a few weeks before survior series 2002 I started watching wrestling that ppv is definitely one of the best of all time plus the theme song always by saliva is flipping fantastic I still listen to it today

IDC what anyone says. Hands down. 2002 was one of the greatest years in WWE history. Iconic matches, unique storylines, debuts, Brand split, PPVs, what a year. The Year the ruthless aggression era was born.
Hulk Hogan had returned to the WWE that year and he had faced The Rock at WrestleMania X8 and when he came back to his beloved red and yellow colors to win the WWE Undisputed Championship from Triple H at Backlash of that year! I was a teenager at the time with 17 years old
1. Summerslam: 10/10 2. Survivor Series: 9/10 3. Rebellion: 8.5/10 4. Royal Rumble: 8/10 5. Vengeance: 8/10 6. Unforgiven: 8/10 7. No Mercy: 7.5/10 8. King of the Ring: 7/10 9. Armageddon: 7/10 10. Judgement Day: 7/10 11. Wrestlemania 18: 6/10 12. No Way Out: 6/10 13. Backlash: 5/10 14. Insurrextion: 4.5/10 One of the best years for WWE PPVs!
Also of note, which I am surprised wasn't mentioned as it really shoulda been, it was the final show produced under the WWF banner. Raw the following Monday saw the debut of the WWE name.
It was a solid match, but both guys weren't at their best and the angle itself wasn't booked properly. Crowd was into it though, I was there in attendance.
I was in the third row at Royal Rumble 2002 (when the hard camera zooms out a little you can see the back of my blond hair in the middle of the bottom of the screen ;) ). Still have my commemorative folding chair. My first PPV and it's still the best one I've ever been to. It was a thrill to see my childhood favorites Undertaker, Mr Perfect, and Big Boss Man live. Of course I knew Perfect wouldn't win the Rumble, but seeing him make the final 3 and Perfect-Plex Kurt Angle was my biggest mark-out moment as a wrestling fan.
In my opinion, Survivor series is the best ppv this year, with a big difference from the rest of the shows, like last year 2019 Exactly, Survivor series was the best with a big difference from the rest of the shows as well
I cannot wait for 2001 PPV from worst to best in the next two weeks or so. P.S. This was the beginning of Ruthless Aggression Era and end of WWF Attitude Era.
I am about as Anti-Hogan as they come, but I always give him props for putting over both Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar making them both look like the real deal at the time. I can count the times on both hands, but every once in a while he made the right call to give someone a victory.
My Top 10 Favorites WWE Matches Of 2002 1.Kurt Angle Vs. The Rock Vs. The Undertaker(Vengeance 2002) 2.Shawn Michaels Vs. Triple H(SummerSlam 2002) 3.Shawn Michaels Vs. Triple H Vs. Kane Vs. RVD Vs. Chris Jericho Vs. Booker T(Survivor Series 2002) 4.Brock Lesnar Vs. The Rock(SummerSlam 2002) 5.The Rock Vs. Hulk Hogan(WrestleMania X8) 6.Shawn Michaels Vs. Triple H(Armageddon 2002) 7.Kurt Angle & Chris Benoit Vs. Edge & Rey Mysterio(No Mercy 2002) 8.Brock Lesnar Vs. The Undertaker(No Mercy 2002) 9.Kurt Angle Vs. Big Show(Survivor Series 2002) 10.The Rock Vs. Chris Jericho(Royal Rumble 2002)
It’s funny How Much Things Changed From January-December. January: Rock, Austin, NWO, Ric Flair, Booker T, RVD, Mr Perfect, Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho, DDP, Triple H, Dudley Boyz, Hardy Boyz, Still Had the “WWF” Logo. December: Brock Lesnar, John Cena, Randy Orton, Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels, Rey Mysterio, Eddie Guerrero, Edge, Christian, Chris Benoit, The Brand Split, The “WWE Logo”. Royal Rumble: Still had that “Attitude Era Feel”. Survivor Series: Ruthless Agression Was in feel force. So 2002 was a Very Great year.
Before I finish watching this, Survivor series 2002 better be number 1 all I’m saying... I’ve watched that PPV on DVD at least 100 times and I notice something new every time
I said I'd be fine with Survivor Series being near the top, and I'll take the 2nd place. That was one of the first PPVs I watched when getting into WWE, and watching it back now... yeah what a way to start! XD
The biggest question is, given how much Vince loved humiliating Eric Bischoff, how he only ever took one stinkface. I'm amazed that he didn't start a third brand with a two hour weekly show, where every match was Rikshi vs. Eric Bischoff in a hog pen match.
I haven't watched it yet, I personally think Survivor Series was the best ppv that year, it was better than RR, NWO & WM X-8 imo, plus it truly felt like WWE finally put the Federation days behind them and embraced the future
14. No Way Out 13. Insurrection 12. Backlash 11. Rebellion 10. Judgment Day 9. King of the Ring 8. Armageddon 7. Unforgiven 6. Wrestlemania 18 5. Vengeance 4. Royal Rumble 3. No Mercy 2. Survivor Series 1. Summerslam
I think if you do a year of ppv reviews, you should consider doing them in chronological order. I know 'worst to best' is a common trope on yt, but for a year of ppvs it would much easier to follow.
Yeah no I don’t care what you say Survivor Series 2002 is #1 that PPV ruled it is one of the greatest of all time yeah Summerslam 2002 was good but only really memorable for the Shawn Michaels return
I honestly do not recall Rebellion being THAT good. Like, I don't think it was bad, but I was surprised to see it at #10 -- and especially over Armaggeddon. But speaking of Rebellion, wasn't Booker's appearance on there part of that trade SD made for the Big Show?
HMMMM..... 🤔🤔 I just realized something. Back in September 1997 at the PPV Undertaker and Shawn Michaels went to a DQ. Then in October they had a hell in a cell match. In 2002 Lesnar and Undertaker went to a DQ at the September PPV. then they hada hell in a cell match at the October PPV. Coincidence??
