I did this with one of my upfitters. Love it. I’m in Alabama so it don’t get that cold but it helps and I have a 5 gallon air tank and 2 viair 480c compressors so when I’m using air a lot that helps them run faster without bogging.
I live in BC Canada witch is more in the North it gets to -40° in the winter this is going to be so helpful when I get my 6.0 thank you very much for the video
I'm finally getting back into the 6.0 game after a 3 year absence. Found your channel, and loving your content. Thanks!! If you ever do a remote starter install, that's something I think is missing from the community...
Hey man you should put “6.0 high idle” in the description so when people search for how to do it this video comes up. I wired mine up a few weeks ago before you posted this video and it was kind of hard to find a good informative video like this.
Ahhhhh, it's soooo cool, I have the upfitters so aux 1&2 are unused 3 does high idle and 4 does led interior lights, planning on doing front facing lights for #1 and rear facing lights with floods on the side for #2 I LOVE FORD FOR THIS
You can either tap into the pto high idle or the battery charge wire I personally do the battery charge wire it will go in a even higher idle if the batteries have a low charge. If you really want to get fancy you can tap in the pto idle wire and install a resister dial that will give you the option to up the idle even higher
Interesting mod! On my 07 6PSD, the high idle kicks in about 1-3 minutes after starting but it only brings the revs up to about 880 or so. Regardless, I just drive the truck gently until it's warmed up.
@@Weber023 you can wire it into a switch. That’s what I did to mine. I have also heard that depending on year the wires can be different colours. I forget what colour mine were
I dont need to push in my parking brake on mine. Late 04. And also, mine slowly idles up. Doesnt jump like yours. I wired it to a switch under the dash.
I found the link. Is there any chance you will be getting any shirts made with pockets ? Also who do you recommend for fuel filter and oil filter caps? Great tutorial on the High idle installation also.
Hello good morning I'm from Pontiac MI, and I just bought a 2006 ford 350 6.0 powerestroke and I don't know anything about diesel I just found your RU-vid channel and I would like you to do some things to my truck
At this time I’m not taking in any work. However if you are looking for a reputable shop that I stand behind, I would recommend T&a diesel out of Marshall mi. 269-832-6755
On one of my trucks I can raise the idle up to 2,000 RPM by activating the cruise control and holding the accelerate switch until the engine reaches the desired speed.
Run some hotshot secret or archoil in the fuel and oil, probaly a sticky injector or 2 Archoil 6200 ~ fuel Archoil 9100~ oil Or Hotshot secret stiction eliminator ~oil Hotshot secret diesel extreme every 6 months ~fuel Hotshot secret edt - every fill up!~ fuel
ok so i really want to do this as i live in Montana however i do not have a purple wire with a green stripe. i have a blue wire with a yellowish colored stripe could that be the correct wire?
Did it with Blue yellow tracer on my 03 same brown wire you used I turn it to park lights comes on stays on only shuts off if i put headlights on Auto push parking brake does nothing
I have 2 fords 6.0 diesel and one i bought brand new from the dealer and both my trucks do this naturally when i let them sit at idle for more then 3 mins and the temp gauge is cold and when i touch the brake pedal it will return back to normal idle! This is not nesscary! Trucks already do this!
Correct, the truck in the video has this feature as well. However the benefit of doing this mod is faster warm ups. It will idle the higher than factory and you can bump it into high idle a lot sooner.
Hack.....those piggy back connectors are junk the first wire I'd of used a butt connector......it is a good mod to keep your girl from driving with the park brake on
Wow you guys find ways to just spend money on this trucks lol. Mine goes straight to high idle by itself depending on the temperature outside and I don't like to high idle my semi or my truck on freezing weather I rather plug the block heater
Haha I knew I might get some backlash for scotchlocks. In this location there is no harm in using them, and can be easily removed and wires repaired if I ever decided to remove. I leave the option open for people that want to hard wire with butt splices and heatshrink and even soddering.
