I simply love the fact that you explain WHY you do the smallest things, there is so much to learn from that! I played this game for 2 years straight when someone randomly dropped a comment why they do a thing exactly like you do here, and I learned something new from it.
I've been needing a series like this. Long, calm, knowledgeable, and incremental. I use these types of videos to get to bed, and I love seeing the progression. Thank you, and I'm subscribing.
So excited for this series!!! I’ve never really gone far in this game cos I get overwhelmed, give up and start over! 😂 Seeing a current playthrough is so helpful. I’m learning so much from your thought process when playing! ❤️
It's been years since I've played this game. I never did get the knack of it. However, I do remember you & your helpful video(s), not only with this game. One cannot miss the soft kindness of your voice. I wonder if that ~~ is what is ~~ so alluring regarding listening & watching your videos. I must thank you for your thoughtfulness in your consideration for beginners. Bravo! ~Wind
Yay! I haven’t completed a lot of the late game achievements like the super cool one. Locavore takes a while without pips. It was a lot of fried mush bars/lice loaf lol. And carnivore took me several tries. I eventually got it by digging straight up immediately and starting a shove vole farm. Good luck! Can’t wait to see the series :)
YES!! been waiting for this!! for the DLC to be out so i can play and for your playthrough! :-) good luck! the carnivore achievement is my bane!! took 3 or 4 attempts before i got that one!
You need a decent number of dupes to eat enough calories before cycle 100. A strategy to make sure you get there if you have enough production of meat but not enough dupes eating, is stressing out binge eaters, that's how you go through a large amount of calories at a quick rate.
I made this achievement and I didn't really need to do anything special, I just kept them eating only meat (cooked, I'm not English speaker and I don't know how does it translate sorry) since cycle 50, it was just enough, I got it at day 98, and I had around 12 dups if I'm not wrong. I had tons of pacus from the printing pot also
@@GrindThisGame - I ended up abusing the printing pod reroll mod to get the carnivore achievement, especially with how few critters there are in the smaller spaced out maps.
I started watching your Accept Every Dupe playthrough but I'm gonna have to watch this series at the same time! I'm a sucker for 100% achievement playthroughs :))
I am super excited about this series... Love your play throughs. Not even 10 min's in...and I watch that one thing happen that makes me crazy... (other than the dropsies) ... when you go through the trouble of making the toilet and sink...and the game catches you not paying attention. End of 'work', first dup goes to bathroom, then that dup comes out of the toilet, sits right now and eats 8:38 so it does not wash its hands... and then next dup goes to the bathroom. So now, while the first dup is finally washing his hands, the second dup walks right by - spreading the germs. Classic blunder. It honestly makes me nuts.
Love watching you play everytime I watch you play I learn something to make my play through more efficient and enjoyable also love the nice calm chill commentary I really think that's your strong suit you do a fantastic job of explaining what you want and AR trying to do and the situations you come across
@@GrindThisGame - Francis John got some game/save/computer setup data from viewers, it SEEMS as though the most important factor in running the game faster or more smoothly is memory speed/latency. If the system is old enough, the CPU is the 2nd most limiting hardware, generally faster is better but it's diminishing returns clock for clock in the same CPU design.
the Biggest Miss for me is that ONI never tells you just how important Vacuum is. Be it early for a Cloine room or a Geyser or Late for a Vulcano or space you need a Vacuum for 60% of all important recources and the game NEVER tells you that (build my first Petrolium Boiler without vacuum.....that was a resart xD)
ive been playing the dlc, a few shocking things but most of all is u can wrangle shine bugs now, they are good to farm for radvolts while being safe for the dupes. ty for the content
A SPOM helps a lot for the electricity achievement. If you can rush the glass forge, solar panels still help a bit despite the way too punishing nerf to their power output. Steam turbines are better if you can find a way to make them work on this cool map, taming the minor volcanoes maybe.
Oh yeah, I've did all achievement run, this is going to be hard. Locavore and carnivore are hard, but doesn't limit you for long. Super sustainable though, oh boy, unless they've nerfed its energy requirement its going to handicap your energy production for very long time. Hydrogen geyser is a huge help, since hydrogen-based power is allowed.
Oh, I wish you luck on the challenge, As im sure you will get there, ill do the normal bugging you about being the Astronaut again, Maybe even the one who gets to travel to the rift? ;)
@@GrindThisGame sorry to hear that, I'm sure if you just keep pushing more will come! I'm at 42 subs now after a year so, I'm trying not to get discouraged 😅👍🏿
I've been enjoying all the little challenges you give yourself in this game. I was wondering if you would ever consider doing one where you only picked ugly criers? I think it would be a funny base lol
@@GrindThisGame there are "pre-built" one near the teleporter destination thing when your dupe arrived there using a teleporter. My dupe happens to dig near it, opens up path to it and there is coal around. They feed the pre-existed coal generator that i didn't build and not connected anywhere, only to jeopardize my sustainable achievement.
@@GrindThisGame on the subject, there was a reddit post where someone's locavore achievement was ruined by the POI of a hydroponics tile because a pip planted a seed in there.
Friendly reminder to use the filters in the priorities tool, you can edit the priorities of only digging assignments for example and leave construction assignments untouched
I watched your playthroughs and played a bit of ONI a few years ago. I always give up because I get overwhelmed by all the buildings and hazards going on. This game is fairly difficult with all the mechanics going on. Before I pirated it (I was broke af) but now I bought it on sale and im hoping this time im gonna succeed and not give up after a week. So far im on cycle 37 and I did quite a bit of research but im hesitant to go further because I would need to bust into the swamp biome and I barely have a sustainable power grid. As someone who likes things to be symmetric and the rooms to have an order to them, it's tough to organize in this game. You build one room and then realize it's in the wrong spot compared to where you need/want it to be.
Luckily you get all the materials back when you deconstruct. Best of luck and don't take on too many dupes early on. I find 8 is a reasonable amount until you get things more self sustaining. Swamp is safe if you store slime underwater in a container and use deodorizers to clean the polluted oxygen. Airlocks can help contain germs as well.
Digging oxylite!!! Oh the duplicity… also ive found setting life support, attacking and toggling to higher priority for all dupes helps early on. You can essentially forget about the algae generators then.
@@GrindThisGame Yes. Much easier when you don't need to wrangle Pips to plant vertical nature reserves around your ladders outside bedrooms. I'm fascinated to see how your playthrough turns out.
I don't think I have ever gotten the carnivore achievement, I think the easiest way would be with fish breeding. Hatches take way too long to ramp up to high sustainability.
I'm new to this game. I wanted to ask, because I think I saw somebody mention it on a forum. Aren't Hatches slower breeders on solid floors, and better breeders on natural floor? And then better coal makers on solid floors and worse coal makers on natural floor?
@@GrindThisGame good to know. Maybe I misunderstood something. Maybe it had something to do with their happiness. So if there isn't much space, but you still want to have many, you can have way more of them, kind of happy, if they can burrow. But again. I'm not sure. Still learning the game (been playing for less than a week).
Can you even do this in spaced out? There's no meteors i think so how will you be able to get Immovable Object? Unless there are meteor showers in other planets?
I have 600 hours in the base game alone. There is alot to learn. I would say pickup the game now and then the DLC when its on sale. There is a hell of a lot stuff to do in base game
