Who else hopes that Real Madrid will finish bottom of their group so Irish guy will open a video shop that exclusively sells Borat dvds on the west coast of Kazakhstan?
We in Luxembourg are still laughing about that Salzburg game PS: their “stadium” is much smaller than a train toilet and we have more cows than sheep over here.
As a United fan, losing to Basel 2-1 in the final group game of the 2011/12 was much worse than the 1-2 vs Midtjylland. We'd just been in the final months earlier and then we finished 3rd in what should have been a 2 team group between us, Benfica, Basel and some Romanian team. What's even worse was that we were still a relatively strong side at that point, yes Phil Jones may have started in midfield but he scored our only goal. Let that sink in.
It's funny, cause Sir Alex ferguson was asked that season about English teams in the UCL that season given City and United's UCL struggles, and the ironic thing is that an English team would win it that year
@@rohithraman6488 in fairness, that period was the shifting of balance in Europe away from the English sides. Chelsea won with a lot of luck with all due respect, besides that Arsenal got battered, and City and United went out in the groups, and the next 5 or 6 years weren't great for English sides either
The Lazio - Ludogorets story ended up being kind of wholesome. After the win Lazio gifted an Eagle called Fortuna to the Bulgarian team. The eagle flew around the stadium before every single Ludogorets game after that for a few years. They became the 3rd European team with a living mascot after Lazio and Benfica
Dele Alli woke up playing FIFA today. 45 minutes played🤔🤔 0 Goals 🤐 0 Assist ❄❄❄❄ 0℅ Dribble success🔥🔥🔥🔥 0 Tackles😤😤😤 11 Times lost possession👏👏👏👏 Better than Hossam Ghaly? 🤔🤓🤓
Just a moment to appreciate the dedication to go through 32 teams last decade of European misadventures and choose a worst one. These guys have the work rate of Kante and the loyalty of Totti. lol
@@davidsedlaczek Ah ya that’s true especially since it was in Bayern’s home stadium and Bayern was clearly the better team but they couldn’t finish the game off
Bro , Vladislav Stoyanov is not a farmer . Give some respect , man . He saved 2 Ronaldo penalties and kept a clean sheet against Portugal while saving about 10 incredible shots
Salzburgs worst is drawing 2-2 at Home to red star Belgrade, after leading 2-0 and taking a 0-0 home from serbia. Being knocked out of the Champions League Qualification inside of 3 Minutes was just tragic.
Thank you for bringing up that Ajax defeat, its been a long time since my club had done anything relevant in Europe, finally it was RBKs time to shine again :)
I mean atletico Madrid lost to Aris Fc in 2011 in uel knock out stages. Considering the the won the thing the previous year it must be quite embarrassing
As a Porto fan, the 2-3 home defeat to Krasnodar in the UCL Qualifying Stage the same season was way worse than Rangers, even though we did indeed spend that night getting sick in a toilet
I agree that the Bayern game is Barca's most embarrassing result, but they haven't been shy of embarrassment this decade. Juve 3-0, Roma 3-0, Liverpool 4-0.
For porto you could said the 6-1 of Bayern in 14/15 season i know it seens like a normal result but we won the first game 3-1 and we were playing like prime Barça we were expecting the loss against Rangers in that season we played like shit
Thank you, losing to a decent Rangers is not embarrassing, they are probably better than all but 3 teams in Portugal if Porto lost to Red Star Belgrade or Cluj next year I wouldn't call that embarrassing
@@LolLol-ch7sl I would considered a loss vs Cluj or Red Star worse than to Rangers... But I don't expect Porto to do so... And BTW I don't expect them to get to the UCL 😜
@@LolLol-ch7sl hey bro when are you going to win the scottish pl Porto is the 3 club with more appearances in the Champions league in the last year we had some hard times and the coach is kinda shit but we are still a milion time better than Rangers
In defence of ajax...during the pre season of 2017 one of there players Abdelhak Nouri sufferd a hearth attack on the pitch and he now has permanent brain damage as a result. During there europe qualifers that season they where still traumatised of this event.
Bayern Munich’s worst defeat was against Chelsea in 2012. CL final in their own stadium and they couldn’t beat a team with the likes of Malouda, Kalou, Mikel, Bosingwa. Also Robben missed a penalty as well that must’ve felt pretty bad. Real Madrid’s was losing 4-1 to Ajax at home. Man City’s was losing to Ajax 3-1 away in 2012 Man United’s was losing 2-1 to Sevilla in 2018
Hey I got some more of these games, some less humiliating than the ones Irish Guy chose, some more so: GROUP A CL Groups/2016: Rostov 🇷🇺 3 - 2 Bayern Munich 🇩🇪 CL Groups/2017: Atletico Madrid 🇪🇸 1 - 1 Qarabag 🇦🇿 One of the games that contributed to Atletico Madrid falling to the Europa League CL 2nd qualifying round/2010: HB Tórshavn 🇫🇴 1 - 0 Red Bull Salzburg 🇦🇹 Unlike the F91 Dudelange game, this was inconsequential but still an embarrassing result EL playoffs/2010: Lokomotiv Moscow 🇷🇺 1 - 2p Lausanne 🇨🇭 Plus Lokomotiv Moscow lost 1-2 inside Moscow by Sheriff Tiraspol in the EL groups in 2017, but they still topped the group. GROUP B CL 3rd qualifying round/2016: Young Boys 🇨🇭 3p - 0 Shakhtar Donetsk 🇺🇦 Not good to get knocked out of the Champions League after winning 2-0 while having more possession, more shots and more shots on target. CL playoffs/2012: Borussia Mönchengladbach 🇩🇪 1 - 3 Dynamo Kyiv 🇺🇦 This champions league exit was the worse I could find for Gladbach other than that 0-4 demolition. EL 3rd qualifying round/2012: Inter Milan 🇮🇹 0 - 2 Hajduk Split 🇭🇷 This game came after Inter won 0-3 at Croatia but still, this team had won the CL just two years ago. Plus you mentioned how Inter lost 3-2 at Israel by Hapoel Be'er Sheva but in the same year they also lost 0-2 in Italy by the same team CL rounds of 16/2010: Lyon 🇫🇷 1 - 0 Real Madrid 🇪🇸 Don't get me wrong, I know that Real Madrid got knocked out frequently in the round of 16 in the 2000s, but for the 2010s Real Madrid, this is below average. GROUP C EL group stage/2010: Lech Poznan 🇵🇱 3 - 1 Manchester City 🏴 I could have picked one of the recent European embarrassments but this game summarises what City used to be CL group stage/2011: APOEL 🇨🇾 2 - 1 Porto 🇵🇹 Porto managed a lot of embarrassments last season, but how about exiting the CL in the groups right after winning the EL mainly because you can't beat APOEL? CL 3rd qualifying round/2016: Hapoel Be'er Sheva 🇮🇱 1 - 0 Olympiacos 🇬🇷 Just pick a game from the 2016/17 season for Olympiacos. I'll go with the game where they got knocked out of the champions league qualifiers by Hapoel Be'er Sheva. EL group stage/2012: AEL Limassol 🇨🇾 3 - 0 Marseille 🇫🇷 The reason I picked this game is because first of all, Apollon and AEL Limassol aren't the same team and secondly this game contributed in them getting knocked out in the groups that season GROUP D CL group stage/2014: Ludogorets 🇧🇬 2 - 2 Liverpool 🏴 Liverpool only made it once to the CL groups between 2010 and 2017, so imagine exiting them because you couldn't beat Ludogorets at Bulgaria CL group stage/2019: Dinamo Zagreb 🇭🇷 4 - 0 Atalanta 🇮🇹 First ever game in the CL groups for Atalanta. EL round of 32/2013: Steaua Bucharest 🇷🇴 3p - 0 Ajax 🇳🇱 While the Rosenborg surely tops this decade for Ajax, back in 2013 they got KO'ed by Steaua despite beating them 2-0 in the Netherlands and even being the favourites of winning the game at Romania EL playoffs/2017: Apollon Limassol 🇨🇾 3 - 2 Midtjylland 🇩🇰 It's not often that Midtjylland reaches European playoffs against a theoretically weaker opponent, so doing so and bottling it deserves to be on this list GROUP E CL group stage/2013: Chelsea 🏴 1 - 2 Basel 🇨🇭 I was torn between this and the 3-0 defeat vs Roma in 2017 at Italy but this is both at home and against a weaker opponent EL round of 16/2019: Slavia Prague 🇨🇿 4p - 3 Sevilla 🇪🇸 When was the last time Sevilla got knocked out of the Europa League before this? Do you think Leicester City 2-0 Sevilla is even worse? EL playoffs/2017: Crvena Zvezda 🇷🇸 2 - 1 Krasnodar 🇷🇺 The one and only time Krasnodar got knocked out before reaching the groups EL group stage/2019: Stade Rennais 🇫🇷 0 - 1 Cluj 🇷🇴 Rennais were terrible in the EL groups last year. They also lost 1-0 at Romania and 3-1 at Scotland against Celtic GROUP F EL group stage/2018: Apollon Limassol 🇨🇾 2 - 0 Lazio 🇮🇹 Lazio had quite some disappointing games the past decade. Another games worth mentioning are Lazio 0-3 Sparta Prague, Zulte Waregem 3-2 Lazio and Red Bull Salzburg 4-1 Lazio, that last one mainly because it was a knockout game and Lazio had one the first game 4-2. EL 3rd qualifying round/2013: Śląsk Wrocław 🇵🇱 1 - 0 Club Brugge 🇧🇪 AEK Athens 3-0 Club Brugge is also worth mentioning. CL group stage/2017: Borussia Dortmund 🇩🇪 1 - 1 APOEL 🇨🇾 Really, most games in the 2017/18 season for Dortmunt, like APOEL 1-1 Dortmund and Dortmund 1-2 Red Bull Salzburg EL 3rd qualifying round/2017: Zenit Saint Petersburg 🇷🇺 0 - 1 Bnei Yehuda Tel Aviv 🇮🇱 You could argue that this team is weaken than Dinamo Minsk and it was a home game GROUP G CL group stage/2012: Celtic 🏴 2 - 1 Barcelona 🇪🇸 Most of us know this one but how about Rubin Kazan 1-1 Barcelona back in the 2010/11 season when Barça thrashed United at Wembley? CL group stage/2018: Young Boys 🇨🇭 2 - 1 Juventus 🇮🇹 I went with this one because it's recent and Juventus are good recently but there's also Juventus 3-3 Lech Poznan and Juventus 1-0 Shamrock Rovers from the 2010s EL group stage/2019: Dynamo Kyiv 🇺🇦 1 - 1 Lugano 🇨🇭 Last year Dynamo Kyiv failed to exit their Europa League group, mainly because they failed to beat Lugano in either match. Also worth mentioning Sheriff Tiraspol 2-0 Dynamo Kyiv, Aalborg 3-0 Dynamo Kyiv and why not, Dynamo Kyiv 1-1 Stoke City EL 2nd qualifying round/2015: Ferencvaros 🇭🇺 0 - 1 Željezničar 🇧🇦 From getting KO'ed by Bosnian clubs to making it to the CL groups, Ferencvaros have went far in the past 5 years. Also worth mentioning are Valletta 1-1 Ferecvaros and Aalesunds 3e-1 Ferencvaros GROUP H CL round of 16/2014: Olympiacos 🇬🇷 2 - 0 Manchester United 🏴 I think this is the only very bad game that you didn't mention for the past decade. EL group stage/2010: Paris Saint German 🇫🇷 1 - 1 Karpaty Lviv 🇺🇦 The one and only point Karpaty Lviv got that year. Other games worth mentioning are BATE Borisov 2-2 PSG and Slovan Bratislava 0-0 PSG EL 2nd qualifying round/2018: Häcken 🇸🇪 1 - 1 RB Leipzig 🇩🇪 They had already won 4-0 at Germany but I don't have many game to choose from. Other games worth mentioning are Universitatea Craiova 1-1 RB Leipzig and the two games vs Zorya where they almost got knocked out in the EL playoffs EL 3rd qualifying round/2016: Istanbul Basaksehir 🇹🇷 0 - 0 Rijeka 🇭🇷 There's really not much to pick so Basaksehir and Rijeka is arguably the lowest quality opponent they faced in the 2010s
@@hermesondjessy111 you kidding? 3-0 up after the first leg of a semi final, all they had to do was not concede 4. The Bayern game was over practically from kick off but the Liverpool game they were in the driver’s seat against a weakened side, has to be one of the most humiliating bottle jobs ever
As a Celtic fan I don’t know what Is more embarrassing that the fact if we did qualify for this list then you would have an endless amount of options to chose from regarding embarrassing defeats in Europe or the fact I was playing bingo at one stage with the teams that’s defeated us in Europe
Here’s a few 0-1 Lincoln red imps O-5 Bratislava 1-4 Legia Warsaw but great comeback in the last few minutes of the 2nd leg 0-2 karagandy 1-2 feren 3-4 cluj
@@dazzag371 what a wank😂😂 tbf there’s a good few more you missed out and thankfully but we made the comeback against red imps that’s the only positive 😅
The Bayern result is obviously because they looked at the team they were playing and instantly decided that they should test whether they could still show up drunk and win the game.
Personally for Barca I would say the Roma or Liverpool game was more embarrassing, brilliant game by Bayern however it was one leg with Liverpool and Roma they basically already has written there name into the next round before a total collapse
Except Barca cheated yet again through the refs, much like against Chelsea in 2009 (although nowhere near as bad as the disgrace at Stamford Bridge). Because I'm pretty sure at least one pen wasn't really a pen.
As a Porto fan, I think the defeats to Bayern (14/15) and Liverpool (17/18) were worse than losing to Rangers (19/20) for the simple fact that we knew we would still top the group. Losing 5-0 at home to Liverpool with Casillas on the bench and an appalling José Sá performance or 6-1 at the Allianz Arena during our worst period in the last 30 years though… not great. We’re an elite European club (anyone who disagrees can talk to our trophy cabinet that has as more international titles than Arsenal, Tottenham and Man City combined and still more than Chelsea) and losing by 5-6 goals should NEVER happen.
Totally disagree about the Bayern One. That Bate Borisov game was nothing compared to what Carlo Ancelotti's Real Madrid put them through in the Sami Finals the next season when they put 5 unanswered goals past Neuer 4 of which at the Bayern's home ground. If you look at Bayern's home record in Europe. They don't often lose 0-4 at home is an understatement. Not to forget they were a defending treble winning side well on its way to repeat the feat and were playing some great football under Pep Guardiola still fresh from his stupendous success at Barca.
When I said Portuguese football was at its lowest point for decades is when Porto lost to Rangers 2-0 in 2019 and I got told I was disrespectful and my comment even got removed from Dailymail after multiple complaints, its good to see at this my man the Irish man from HITC Sport agrees with it. Both Porto and Benfica not even 10 years ago were expected to go through the Champions League stage and now they can't even beat Scottish teams in the Europa League.
Inter got trashed by Schalke 2:5 at home. I reckon that was worse than Hapoel. Also Leipzig getting trashed by Man Utd is much more embarassing than Rosenborg draw
this video is the only reason i'm happy Benfica isn't in the CL or i would be remembered about our amazing 5-0 defeat to the almighty Basel like 4 years ago. oh wait that's just unforgettable anyway
I've wondered, why does Benfica suck in European competitions? Unlike Porto... Not a hater i'm just intrigued, they're supposed to be as good as each other, but not in Europe🤔
@@kriszepeda3141 in the last decade both teams had pretty similar european records. both got to the quarter finals of the ucl at least twice; benfica lost 2 UEL finals while porto won 1. porto has been slightly better but overall pretty similar
@@David-qq9bk True however often I do see Benfica getting battered on the group stages or not even qualifying for the CL, whilst Porto does tend to be stronger
@@kriszepeda3141 the last time benfica didn’t qualify for the UCL was over 10 years ago (and this year again). porto didn’t qualify last season being eliminated in the 3rd qualifying round by krasnodar. benfica had a bad season (2016/17 if i’m not mistaken) but apart from that one we haven’t been battered in the UCL. we either go through to the round of 16 or we come as a close 3rd placed and proceed to play good in the UEL
For PSG the most embarrassing result should have been getting beat to United 3-1, we had players like Martial out injured, Pogba was suspended and we had players like Tahith Chong coming off the bench and was having to start Andreas Pereira
