He's insanely underrated. He's definitelly the second best goal keeper in Serie A (Handanovic being the best). Although, in his first 2 seasons he has been dreadful on set pieces. Thankfully it seems like he worked on it this season and is much more confident in those kind of situations.
13 14 was a bad season for goalkeepers except petr cech and david marshall a good goalkeeper who sadly got relegated with a horrible cadiff he made some damn good saves
Pepe reina was actually good at L’pool. I don’t know why you always take the piss out of him, if he would’ve been in his prime years now he would easily be the Spain number 1. The poor lad had to compete with Casillas, a young De Gea and Valdes, even Pinto tbf.
Aidan Jane McIntosh Pinto was a very important piece of the Barca squad. He won two trebles and played almost all cl in the Pep treble. If it wasn’t for Pinto Barca would’ve signed Akinfeev, we all know how that would’ve ended
Jimboola Mertesacker was totally decent for the better part of the decade, and Koscielny was borderline Premier League team of the season for like four years
We had a good gk for one season in the decade. But we had decent defenders throughout the decade. Per and kos were one of the best partnerships in the pl
it's this the last 2 seasons we had this problem. Koccielny was solid and Mertesacker was always good enough while we've only had one good goalkeeper through the decade
Both Nani and Valencia are Right Winger during their title winning run. Juan Mata regularly play there as well. An during his early times at United he is their best player.
During the same time we Evra who was a better LB than them two. Shaw when he’s played has been good just consistently injured, Young has 2 good years at LB. LB hasn’t been great for us but our RW has been the glaring issue for United for a while.
Maybe not all videos need to be directly connected to the EPL clubs as it is now . Some random ideas being something like “ 10 things never to say to a football fan “ or “ 10 reasons why football is better /worse than it was 10 years ago “
AC Milan number 9. Perennial golden Boot candidate like Higuain suddenly froze with that number. Piatek who was prolific in his half season debut with number 19 suddenly become dull with 9. Alexandre Pato who was an instrumental piece during Scudetto year was great with number 7. But become an injury Prone player with number 9. Other victim including Andre Silva, Fernando Torres, Luiz Adriano, and etc
irish guy youre wrong about chelsea. chelsea had drogba for the first 3 years and costa for also 3 years and they won a champions league and 3 premier leagues mainly because of them.
The defense was shit before we signed Virgil Van Dijk, VVD and Allison changed the team they are our best players. Manè, Salah and Firmino also changed the team. They are our best players.
@@Zenbassador You could make an argument that the CB situation was worse than GK with the likes of Skrtel, Toure, Sakho, and Lovren regularly producing calamities. LB also hasn't been great before Robbo.
None of those were on the first half of the decade : they got nasri ,navas ,milner and good old adam johnson ,which all were great but id have to go with central midfilders for city : first half Toure Yaya ,second half de bruyne .plus David silva , fernandinho
Most Chelsea fans consider LB our problem position. Either side of Ashley Cole we've had to put up with Le Saux, Babayaro, Bridge, Del Horno, Felipe, Rahman, Alonso & Emerson. It's consistently been the weakest link in the team. Many of us our collectively creaming ourselves over the possibility that Alex Telles is close because we've needed a proper LB forever.
LB was probably a better answer for Villa. Guzan ended poorly but he had some good seasons. Nyland has been solid for us so that was a bit of a ridiculous take, and without Jed Steer we wouldn’t have been promoted. LB we’ve had no one. Bacuna, out of position Hutton, Neil Taylor etc. Jordan Amavi was maybe the highlight and he was always just potential with us.
Not sure I agree with Brighton’s left back assessment. Bong, whilst not spectacular, did a solid job in our promotion season and Bernardo looks to be a decent option there, as has big Dan Burn, who has played well there considering it isn’t his natural position. Our weakest area has probably been striker. We never suitably replayed Murray when he left at the end of our promotion winning season to the championship, until Ulloa. He then left and we failed to replace him until Murray returned. We’ve gotten by with our ageing talisman in the PL but, based on Brighton’s inability to score consistently in the PL, we have yet to find a proven PL goal scorer.
Steer did get Villa to Wembley in the penalty shootout tbf. Guzan was decent for 2 years, then his form went down the toilet. Nyland has improved, but was poor in the championship. Johnstone was good during his loan spell after a bad debut.
Don'r forget Fabio at Man United as well. Could play on the left or right but he wasn't anywhere near as good as his brother Rafael. For Liverpool you could also mention Adrian only he didn't have much time in the decade to maybe be considered for selection
Man Utd's weakness should be right back, ashley young, antonio valencia, guillermo varela, rafael silva. it wasn't until the last year of the decade to get aaron wan-bissaka
@Henry Miranda true, but valencia and young had to be converted from wingers to right backs and we didn't have a true right back since gary neville and now aaron wan-bissaka
@@anonymousretribution9525 Michael Carrick still there for most of the decade. Nemanja Matic is decent enough. And Now there is Scott McTominay. And if Ander Herrera is considered DM then there is no question about this position. Their Center back were worse than that
Chelsea's striker curse has been pretty fascinating actually. Morata, one of the best Serie A strikers while on loan and a great prospect at Real Madrid-failed Falcao, the most promising striker at the time-failed Eto'o, still the only player in history to win back to back trebles-failed Torres, one of the greatest Premier League strikers of all time who made himself a Liverpool legend in incredibly short time-failed Abraham, a Swansea reject-actually doing pretty good.
Spurs had dembele in cm who was an absolute beast. Sissoko, winks and wanyama at points have also been solid. Our worst position over the decade is probably left back
CB and DMF are the positions arsenal have most trouble with and still there is no worthy CB even now , they even failed to replace Patrick viera even to this date
I'm an arsenal fan but spurs' CMs have been great. Dembele, Modric, Van De Vaart, Lo Celso, Alli. I think LB is a more viable option, rose Davies and Assou Ekoto
I agree with the Chelsea one, but look, Drogba from 2010 till 2012, Torres scores 22 goals 2013, 2014 till 2017 we have Costa, then Tammy in 2019. In reality we’ve lacked a great striker for maximum 3 out of the 10 years
You do forget that Reina is a LFC legend, Mignolet had a great first few seasons at LFC (he can only do as good as his defence), Karius literally carried LFC to the UCL final and Alisson is probs the best of the decade
I think Arsenal had a bigger problem with CDM or the lack of one since Gilberto left. Song was becoming a very good player before leaving for Barca but was becoming more attack minded. More box to box than holding. Almunia was awful, Fabianski had no confidence, Schzeney was still young but we got some decent moments out of him. Ospina is a decent GK, got a good record but just not a number one at a club supposedly wanting to get back to the top and Cech was gd let down a lot by what was in front of him. I feel if we had a top CDM over the last decade even two at different stages. The balance of the team would have been a lot better. I mean we've still only got Torreira in 2020. Granted we haven't had best keepers but Schzeney and Fabianski both decent now.
Nah you've never watched Charlie Taylor have you? He's absolute quality and if you think otherwise, as I've probably said so many times, watch football outside the top 6 my god.
with drogba and diego costa I can't honestly put the striker position as our worst of the decade. I'd say leftback. since ashley cole left nobody was really consistent there
But one was 35 and past his best and another had just scored 3 goals the season prior. When players like van Persie and firmino were being signed around then do you get what he means
just because you're a panic signing doesn't mean your a good signing. It just means the club was desperate. Ighalo will always be considered a panic buy for united wether his shit or world class
I would include Left Back for Liverpool. Sure, Robertson has been outstanding, but before his arrival, Liverpool's left back was a mess. Fabio Aurelio was good, but didn't stay too long on the decade. Jose Enrique was fairly good, but spent most of hist time at the club out injured, Rodgers would often use Sakho who was decent as CB but really awful at LB, Aly Cissokho didn't do much, John Flanagan looked promising for like half a season, Alberto Moreno had great pace and a decent left foot for long range strikes, but never managed to make the position his own, and Milner had to become the first choice LB for almost 2 complete seasons.
Burnley one is a terrible take - Ward was fantastic for us at left back, and Taylor is one of our most consistent players - pieters is simply backup and only got a run due to Taylors injury If you're going for Burnleys bad postion, its been our right mid, purely because it's been all over the place with injuries, and we've somehow ended up with Jeff Hendrick at right mid......
Simon Moore when he arrived kept his number 1 shirt in league 1 only lost it because the championship was too good for him and Blackman had potential but wasn’t amazing. And Dean Henderson has been number 1 for 2 seasons now. I’d say striker is the weakest position or like a flair player. We just lack a bit of creativity and a striker or someone who can get 15 goals a season in the prem
For west ham, zaza wasn’t injured, they just didnt want to play him so that they don’t end up buying him for 30 million because of An agreement in his loan contract
To be fair to brad Guzan he was villas best player on the pitch that day they lost 8-0 to chelsea. Could easily have been into the teens, they were awful.
