So if 733,000 cases are opened a day then valve makes about 1.8 million usd a day just off of people opening cases... yet they still can't do anything we ask them. lol
and then add onto that the sheer amount of steam trading happens in a day with valve taking a cut, adds a shit ton more per day just off the csgo market
On average, to get a knife you need to open like $800 worth of cases. So, it makes sense that most mid-tier knives are around $500. If they were more expensive it would be better to open cases than buy one directly, and if they were less expensive cases would be even less worthwhile to open. The price of knives drives the demand for cases, which in turn increases supply. So I’d imagine it sorta balances itself.
I don't entirely agree with your sentiment, your average knife would have to be 500$ for it to make sense to open cases instead of just buying knives. But the 500$ knives are some of the higher end stuff you can even get from cases, unless it's butterflys. doppler, tiger tooths, marbles are all high end finishes. For all of those you have rust coat, ultraviolet, bright waters, damascus. Just garbage. And for all of the good knives, bayos and karambits you have just as many cheap guts and flips. Same goes for new knives. All of these would need to be 500$, every single one of the gut rust coats. Otherwise it's still a 50/50 gamble with 500+$ (in your hypothetical scenario where the mid tiers are even more expensive than right now). And cases would still be utter shit to open.

imagine how much they make off of the steam market cut aswell+dota etc etc...its insane. Valve only has 360 employees at around $1-4 billion/year in sales that averages around 3-11 million per employee. and keep in mind that valve isnt publicly traded. this company and especially the ceo are fucking geniuses for this operation.
yeah they make anywhere between 40-60 million from cases every month and have been making that for a long time. csgo is their biggest cashcow if you dont count what they get from steam
Opened about 100 cases since they came out. I’ve played csgo since it started, and only did my first 50 cases ( proper opening ) last year as I wanted a butterfly fade back after selling mine for like 150 in 2016. I ended up getting 49 blues and in my second to last case, got a vanilla stat butterfly. Breakout case. I’d say I got lucky given my friends have spent thousands and haven’t made that much.
I had 3 keys that I was going to trade to one of those steam level up bots to level my steam account. Ended up opening the cases at 4 am and got a Karambit Autotronic. Sold it for 780 CAD.
Only thing I get from that is that some rich oil princes hold thousands of knives in their inventories and if one day somebody decides to drop for example his Butterfly collection the market collapses and that specific knife type loses a few hundred Euros of value, that number makes no sense otherwise considering there is a limited amount of players out there
811mill / 400 = amount of knifes but then its slightly too high due to operation skins and souvenir skins. even if you'd say operation skins and souvenir skins are half the market then you still have 1million knifes.
You forgot to take into consideration amount of map collection skins as well as stickers that are being dropped every week by all people playing the game
@@EA_SKAAN thats not the point. it counts into the registered skins on floatdb and as there are, as u urself mentioned, no knives in mapcollections and some others, which means in conclusion that the real number is a little lower. 14mio souvenirs, 48mio in the 2018 collections, 17,5mio in 2021 collections and so on....
u arte wrong. valve had to make odds public due to legislation in china. there even is a tool where u can track how many cases etc. u openend which at the end concludes ur specific odds. there are some outstandings but in total the given odds are about right. opened nearly 10k cases myself and i am at .024% for golds. but i am a little to high for reds on the other hand.
There is always an average, and considering that the insane amount of cases are being opened every single day, The numbers just can't lie about the average in this case.
its going up cause its a bubble. Every market is a bubble. If it has a high just like now, itll have its low also. Keep in mind the boom was in 2020 and we are still yet to see a peak. After that its mostly down from there before going back up again. Not to mention on how long the community will want to carry valve's shit maintenance for csgo and stop caring

A lot of them aren't even knives, there's also gloves in that equation, and there's a lot of really shit knives like Navaja knives, all the low value ones like boreal forest and camo, vs the knives that are actually valuable.

Its always the 1/390 chance of being a gold, so he did the Math correctly. But from that 1/390 its another 1/10 or whatever so just divide 1900 / 10 and u get the amount of ST knifes
