Fun fact: Florian was originally going to have a much bigger role in the story, but his screen time was significantly reduced because it was really hard to them animate him properly
@@CharlCharl_Yes there is The joke they’re referring to is that Rapunzel proposed to him instead of the other way around, which didn’t happen as he proposed to her. Although In the series there was a point where Rapunzel was going to propose to Eugene on his birthday but a conflict that I don’t wish to spoil kept her from actually being able to do it.
If you love Eugene and Rapunzel’s relationship, I’d recommend watching the sequel show Tangled the Series. Their relationship is so beautifully done in the series and really cements them as my favourite Disney couple 😊
@@lavenderflowersfall280 I half and half ship them but I ship Rapunzel and Eugene more. I wouldn’t say either couple is better than the other, they’ve both got good points and bad points
I'd argue Flynn is a better thief than Aladdin cuz Aladdin struggled with stealing 1 loaf of bread whereas Flynn basically gets away with stealing a crown from the castle and the only reason he goes to jail at the end of the movie, it because Gothal and his ex criminal partners tricked him.
I know in 10 months late but thats true. Aladdin had to to have a whole musical chase sequence just to steal one loaf of bread, meanwhile Flynn basically commited grand larceny and got away like it was nothing.
Fun fact. Since you mentioned Prince Eric's voice actor. Prince Charming in the sequels was actually voiced by Prince Eric's original VA, his royal highness Christopher Daniel Barns. Funny that they got him to do a prince in direct to vhs sequels but not of the prince he actually voiced. His royal highness CD Barnes was also the voice of Spider-Man in TAS. If anyone grew up in the 90s-early 2000s and never put that together like me, you'll never be able to unhear it now.
Yeah, by definition, Kuzco would be a princess more than a prince. "Do people assume all your problems got solved because a big, strong man showed up?" But oh well, better late than never I suppose.
I 100% agree with Eugene being the top prince of Disney. of all the princes I've seen, I quote him the most. he's so charming and hilarious and I love his story arc from selfish thief to selfless lover. he went from being willing to endanger Rapunzel by taking her to a tavern that is filled to the brim with bandits and murderers so that she will give him the crown to someone who was willing to ditch the crown to be with this same woman that he was willing to endanger before and even sacrifices himself to save her from a dark and cruel life under Gothel because his new dream was Rapunzel. he is so full of personality and I can't help but love him though I want to point out that at the end of Tangled, when Eugene said that Rapunzel asked him to marry her, Rapunzel chimes in to correct him and he admits that he asked her. I do like that he asked her though because it goes to show how much he changed throughout the movie. he didn't give a shit about her at the beginning of the movie, and here he is now asking to marry her. it's adorable
I think there was plenty of hints that Hans was evil. In his song he says “I’ve been searching my whole life to find my own place” while Anna is talking about how she loves him. Elsa’s general warning that “you can’t marry a man you just met” along with the same warning from Kristoff later on. Not to mention the huge red flag that he has 11 brothers and multiple of them ignored him for years at a time. And because, the most obvious one, he’s just too good to be true. Any decent character has some kind of flaw. Even Kristoff is awkward and clumsy and a bit abrasive when they meet
I don't think that lyric implies anything. He could just be saying that he feels that his place is beside Anna, which is a romantic thing to say. The warning about not marrying a Man you just met doesnt make sense too since then Anna is evil as well, since she is a woman he just met And yes, hes too perfect, but this is a movie, they could have made him too perfect, that would make the love triangle even more interesting. Now, If at any point, anyone at all in the movie stated that "No one is perfect, hes gotta have some flaw", they maaaaybe that would be a red flag towards him being a bad person, or a villain
When it comes to Arthur/Wart, I think you're being incredibly hard on a 13 or 14 year old boy who made his choices based on listening to different adults he either personally trusted or had a lot of power over him to begin with.
Agreed, Arthur is just a kid and an orphan his role in society was essentially take order and you'll only ever be a squire so at his age with the added societal norms he's going to be listen to the adult figures in his life rather than giving out commands 😅
Nope. Not an excuse. Disney has many characters around his age act very mature despite their different cultures and circumstances. Plus back in the time period the movie takes place in, teens were the young adults of that time period since back then, people were lucky to grow older than 30s-40s. Plus Snow White was also 14 and she was able to make her own choices despite being raised to be a servant by the Queen
There was actually one hint in Frozen that Hans was a villain, most people just missed it. When he appears to save Elsa from one of Duke weaselton's huntsman he glances up at the ceiling before shoving the guys crossbow this was intentional as he purposely aimed the crossbow at the chandelier above Elsa's head intending to drop it on her and make it look like an accident while he was saving her but she dodged. You literally show the scene. Aside from that the reason Hans with such an out-of-nowhere villain was because Elsa was supposed to be the villain originally but the song let it go was so inspirational they couldn't make her the villain after recording it. Also I think the reason they didn't go back and add any scenes in aside from the chandelier scene to prove Hans was the villain and he kind of hints or anyting is probably because people in the real world have been blindsided when a partner cheats on them or decides to steal from them or friend stabbed him in the back somehow and that's what they wanted to do they wanted the audience to be as blindsided by Hans betrayal as Anna was.
Why though? Elsa didn't see the guy aiming his crossbow, but she's more likely to hear a chandelier cracking as it falls from the ceiling. The Duke's goons want to kill her and so does Hans; they wouldn't spill that Hans visibly let Elsa die.
@@silverscorpio24 Maybe Hans wanted the Duke and his goons to take the fall so he comes across as the one who tried to save her. Really this all comes down to poor story telling.
@@tamakunminnip2117 Yeah it's poor storytelling, including writing events that directly contradict the twist villain's motivations. Hans had a perfect opportunity to let Elsa die, and not even by his own hand, so he can still blame the Duke for her death. By saving her and taking her back to the castle and throwing her in the dungeon he then has to think of an entirely new plan that he can get away with.
Honeslty kuzco is my favorite out of any prince's because he didn't need a love interest to change, and it took awhile for him to change. Most of the prince's change because they meet the girl and fall in love. Not every story and relationship has to be romantic case and point kuzco's friendship with pacha.
Yeah, my favourite couples are the ones who start out neutral with each other, get into wacky shenanigans, constantly butt heads, and eventually realise there’s more to that person than they believed. As shown by Tiana & Naveen and Rapunzel & Eugene!
Honestly, I think u nailed the top 3, even the order they are in. Great Job. I do have to correct u on one thing tho... Eugene was just joking about Rapunzel asking him to marry her, he does say at the end that he did actually ask her.
Fun Fact: Eugene does come back says “alright I asked her” at the end. Not that it matters but still. Also you forgot to mention that he says that it took years and years of asking rather than immediately marrying her which is a nice refresher from all of the meet and marry in the same day tropes
Yeah almost all of the princesses marry their princes in the end, but it made sense to have a princess (Rapunzel) enjoy her freedom after being locked in a tower her whole life.
I think Chang and Mulan have the best setup amongst all the Disney couples (I like Philip/Arora’s but they sing a single song after meeting for the first time😂) Edit: Neveen needed more work and had more to learn, but Tiana couldn’t see her flaws and that makes it harder to change for her. Love these videos bro
I think you might've misunderstood Taran a bit. The magic sword isn't a blow to his character development because he doesn't understand what it means to be a hero at that time. His definition of hero throughout most of the movie is someone knightly, who vanquished evil. We see it in his daydreaming and playing, even his attitude towards his master's views on the horned king. He wants to storm the castle, defeat evil in a clearly physical way. His arch is realizing that heroes are not all knights, and that anyone can be one, no matter what or who they are or how they do it. So at the time he's gotten thrown in the dungeon, all he has done is regretted daydreaming off and allowing himself to get into this mess. He hasn't learned his lesson. The sword comes into play, and he thinks he's now a hero, but as the movie implies (remember the animation where the sword is controlling him?) and as other characters even state to him, its the sword doing the work, not him. Basically if we were comparing it to another film, it would be someone who wanted to ace his test finding the grading key and calling themselves smart. He's only fooling himself. But he's not fooling the movie, nor his friends. When he offers the sword to the hags, he's sorrowful at not being able to play the hero and is confused on what to do to actually destroy the cauldron. He's now completely lost because he believes himself no longer able to be the hero.. But its only at Gurgie's sacrifice does he understand that someone wielding a sword isn't always the hero; sometimes its the person who you least suspect and that anyone can be one. Even a little monster you found in the forest, cowardly, and small. His arch ends when he realizes his friend, obnoxious though he was, is gone because Gurgi wanted to save them. And when the hags come back and offer him the marvelous sword, the thing that made him in the past the "hero" he always wanted to be, he turns it down. Taran of old might've taken them up on their bargain, but new Taran just wants his friend back: as he says in the movie "I'm no hero, Gurgi's the real hero." Basically its a less blunt Hercules. Though I do like both movies equally.
@@Superlad945 In a sense, yes. Except if the similar situation happened in Hercules, Phil would've jumped in after Meg and obtain true hero status. Though I don't think the world is ready for Danny DeVito God yet.
@@Rockotarthepurplehatguy When you eventually make a frozen two review I will, happily enjoy you roasting the grandfather plot line and Elsa’s “ice messaging” Fr tho, frozen two did not live up to the original (even if the first movie had a few problems *ahem cough* Hans *cough cough*
In my Ranking: 20 : Hans - Doesn't even need to explain why he's last 19 : John Smith - He is generic and has weird grotesque implications, also he doesn't even married Pocahontas 18 : Florian - We have almost nothing about him 17 : Charming/Henry - As you explained, in the first movie we have almost nothing about him, but the sequels gave him development, especially in A Twist in Time 16 : Arthur/Wart - Even if he isn't a memorable character and doesn't change much along the movie, he is at least kind and nice since the beginning. I don't mind his voice because I'm brazilian, so in our dub his voice doesn't change and is a fine voice. Also, his name is the same as my cousin, my cousin is like an emo version of him. 15 : Taran - He is whiny and rude in the beginning, but in the middle of the way he starts to became more humble and *a little* mature, even if he didn't have had this "almost character development" he still would be a determinated and playful kid (which is something good if your character is in a movie without sequels) 14 : John Rolfe - I agree with you, although he is not so memorable 13 : Eric - He is nice, he may not have something that stands out in comparison with the rest, but he is a humble, playful and dreamy person. 12 : Shang - As you sayed, he doesn't stand out as much as the rest, but he is a stoic guy, is tough and his character arc compliments the themes from the movie 11 : Phoebus - Agree with you 10 : Beast - I think he starts the " villain to hero" thing that some other princes followed later, he was Prince Zuko before Zuko's existence 9: Phillip - He is a fun dude, i think he is the epitome of male hero archetype from a Disney movie, and he is courageous in a right way 8 : Tarzan - I haven't watched Tarzan in a time, but remember him being tough, compassionate and his character arc was great 7 : Kritoff - Agreed 6 : Naveen - I agree with you 5 : Milo - Again, i agree with you 4 : Hercules - He is nice since the beginning, but watch him learning life lessons and how to became a great hero was amazing 3 : Kuzco - His villain to hero arc was strongly great, he is so memorable and has a strong character 2 : Eugene - Him and Alladin compete for spot 1, because he was kinda underused in Tangled the Series and i didn't had a very strong immersion with him, he is in the second spot, but he is still a strong and great combination of many Princes tropes from before 1 : Alladin - I have so much immersion with him, he is one of the strongest Disney characters for me, he learned many things but was nice and brave since the beginning, I also adored his relationship and character arc with his dad in the third movie
3:06 Admittedly, The Sword in the Stone is actually one of my childhood films, but yeah, Arthur is a poorly written protagonist. Which is such a shame, considering that in the original source, the Legend of King Arthur, he is actually a loyal and wise king. Also, I didn't know Arthur's voice changed so much, but that might just be bc I grew up with the Spanish dub xD Also, thanks for putting Prince Adam high in the list. I'm really sick of people who misunderstand the fil and say "bEaUtY hAd sToCkHolM sYnDrOmE", "bEaSt aNd gAsToN aRe dA sAmE" or, the worst, "gAsToN iS aCtUaLlY dA gOoD gUy" I'm just like, please, go watch Beauty and the Beast again, you've completely missed the point. -_- And yeah, Eugene = best Disney prince every created. Congrats on the 15,000 subs ! :D
21:10 Pheobus Pheobus was a good character. He had charm and he showed he had integrity when he refused to carry out Frollo's evil orders. He went against Frollo, ended up with Esmeralda & developed a friendship with Quasimodo.
The reason Arthur has three voices is because the original actor's voice broke during recording (he was 15) and the director used his sons (who were the right age) to fill in additional lines. Hence why Arthur blatantly changes voice in between lines of dialogue several times throughout the film.
It just hit me that Phineas and Ferb should have been on the list, they're Disney and they're royalty since their sister is the queen of Mars. And the inclusion of John 2 from Pocahontas 2 means that this list isn't exclusively WDAS, since that was Disneytoons. So Disney Television Animation should also count
I really don't like John Smith, simply because of the extreme racist implications. I like John Ralph a lot simply because it's obvious he doesn't have a problem with her culture, and really doesn't mind living within it or learning about her family, and I think that's sweet. Still heavy implications, but it's better than Smith!
You probably shouldn't like either then because in reality-the real life pocahontas more then likely married John Rolfe due to her being held for ransom in England and as a political marriage between the Powhatans and the English for trade agreements.
I always relate to Milo because he so curious about his research as something he so passionate about more than anyone else despite how his peers looking down on him for being a total oddball and eventually give up his position and rather be happy to live in his new life than his old life
Florian is actually my favorite along with Phillip and Prince Charming, I can understand why many people hate them because they really don’t have much personality at the same time though, I believe all three had very limited dialogue and screen time because they were harder to animate with rotoscoping and everything… The princesses were the same way I think, but I guess since they were more main characters they probably worked a lot harder with them but the princes were too much work…
Finally someone who recognized John Rolfe, I absolutely love both Pocahontas movies tbh, even if they aren't accurate, but meh, but I've always loved John Rolfe in the 2nd movie, he's top tier
Ill be honest I think Tarzan should've been first. Out of all of them (IMO) he's the most noble, loyal, caring, and selfless of all of them. His onyl moment of being less than is forcing Jane to choose between his home and the rest of the world. And even then he understood after all that happened and was willing to let her go.
Actually, Eugene actually asked. He makes the joke, "After years of asking and asking... I said yes." Then Rapunzel cuts in with "Eugene..." and he goes, "Alright, alright... I asked her." I wish they had just left it at her asking him, would have been a much better and more modern ending.
Rapunzel _was_ planning to propose to Eugene at one point in the tv series, but her plans to do so got interrupted. So even though he ended up asking her in the end, there's still some modernisms to their ending.
I always say the problem with frozen is that it's story feels like a first draft. Hans is basically the embodiment of what I hate about modern disney. The stupid pretentious twist villain and the obnoxious statements about them being self-aware of their tropes.
The same thing has crossed my mind before. The writing is really rushed and sloppy, full of plot holes and contrivances, with most coming from the shock-twist. Then I looked at Frozen II, which took six years to release, and realized it's not a time limit issue, it's simply bad writers. I actually like Hans, but he could've been a really fantastic character if he'd been treated with more care. Really, that goes for all the main characters and the franchise as a whole. Conceptually, it has a lot of potential, but the execution is just not compelling.
All of these are pretty good rankings but prince eric did risk his life trying to save ariel near the end of the movie which includes him wounding and impaling the sea witch to save ariel. But that's really it so i think he probably deserves a higher ranking than prince charming at most
@@braydengraves4655 According to Disney Merida is a "Disney princess" so they should count as princes. Also Rockotar included Merida in his princess video
Something to be said about Prince Eric- he's totally selfless. When his ship got wrecked/caught fire, he made sure everyone else- including his dog- was safe before he saved himself. He's a simple character and we don't see much of him, but it's completely easy to see why Ariel was smitten with him right from the beginning.
I only learnt about John Rolfe just now, never having heard of him in the past until this video, but now I appreciate and love him. ALSO THE DRESS POCAHONTAS WORE WAS AWESOME
I'd really like people to stop using the glass slipper against Prince Charming. That literally has nothing to do with him. It's his father that sends his advisor on the search for the woman who fits it, which makes more sense on why they don't look at faces.
I 100% agree with John Rolfe, being 100% better than John Smith, when more interesting and charming, and everything a girl could ever want versus the dull charisma and not as well designed as John Rolfe It literally makes no sense why people even ship Pocahontas with John Smith other than they were the original couple from the original movie 😤💔
Arthur was played by three kids, two were brothers who were sons of someone high up with the movie, I forget, but the younger's voice was changing, so between those two things (three different actors with one having a changing voice due to puberty), it's very unfortunately apparent in the finished movie.
Okay, but Eugene, Aladdin and Naveen have great characteristics and character development over time. The chemistry between them and the Princesses is very well done. They are also my personal favorites, I personally understood Aladdin with someone who’s struggled with poverty myself but was still selfless helping others despite my living situation back then.
In Prince Charming's defense (which admittedly there isn't a lot of 😅) he didn't know Cinderella's name. We could flank him for not having asked Cinderella during the time they spent with one another, but granted the dilemma works both ways. Cinderella herself didn't know that she was dancing with the prince until she inadvertently learned about it from Lady Tremaine. When Cinderella was hastily trying to leave Prince Charming at the stroke of midnight, she tried to make the excuse that she hasn't met "the prince" yet, which surprised Charming, and she left in a hurry before he could explain things. I guess the two were so "in love" with each other that they've forgotten to exchange introductions 😆. As for him doing the shoe search himself, yes you're not wrong, he should've personally done it. He could've gone door to door trying to see if he could hopefully find and recognize the maiden with whom he danced and fell in love with. Admittedly though, that would've seemed a bit tactless given that it is a big kingdom, so it would've taken a lot of time to find her. He could've simply had some sort of arrangement planned where the maidens who attended the ball could come over to the palace again for some other festive occasion, and he could've found Cinderella that way. But that scenario would've been unlikely to work as I'm pretty sure Lady Tremaine wouldn't let Cinderella go to the palace to meet the prince (she didn't even let Cinderella attend the ball to begin with). This issue also would've been the case had Charming asked for every maiden in the kingdom to visit the palace. But that's beside the point. In reality and narratively-speaking it wasn't even the prince who ordered the Duke to find Cinderella, it was his father the King. The entire ball was orchestrated by his majesty in order to find his son a wife so that he could potentially have some grandchildren. But this at first proved fruitless as his son chose to rebuff his father's invasive attempts in meddling with his personal life 😅. After learning from the Duke that his son now wishes to marry the maiden with whom he danced with at the ball (something the King himself bore witness to), the King was overjoyed and immediately ordered the Duke to go search for her. It was also him who ordered the Duke to use the slipper the maiden left behind as a means of findng her. He made it quite clear to the Duke, even threatening him, that it wouldn't matter what maiden fit the slipper, as the prince gave his "word" that he'd marry whomever would fit it. So he's holding his son to his word. On one hand, it is hilariously dumb that the prince would use the shoe size as his only clue in finding Cinderella (unless Cinderella has a very unique and small foot size compared to the rest of the women in the kingdom 😆). But on the other hand, the King himself seems to only care about wanting grandchildren, so he's going with whatever could offer him that outcome. Even if the shoe were to fit some other lady, he'd overlook his son's feelings and have him abide by his promise. After all, his authority overrules his son's. The king is made more understanding and lenient in the sequel films 😆.
@@princessjazmin6499 I mean, a man at his age, it sorta makes sense 😅. Plus if you look at it with a more historical lense, kings back then did worry themselves over seeing that their royal blood lineage continues on.
I kinda got the vibe from Snow White that their meeting at the beginning wasn’t the first time. Maybe because in his song he uses a past tense (I know it’s more specific like past present participle or some bullshit idk) but he says ‘one song I have been singing’ and ‘one love that has possessed me’. I also think it’s really cute how in that scene he gives a little bird a smooch or it gives him a smooch, idk I can’t remember but it’s the cutest shit I’ve ever seen! I want more uwu cutesy princes that are just as affectionate with animals as the princesses are. Not that I disagree with the list placement or anything, it’s still not much lol. I just think he’s neat. ❤
From least favorite to favorite and I'm only including those in the Canon (I don't want to have to factor in them) Hans (terrible writing hurts him so so much. The turn is so bad) Florian (having no personality oddly helped him be above Hans) Arthur (who cares) Taran (least he's better than Arthur) Charming (even with his incredibly limited screen time, he's more delightful than the others. His yawn brought him this far) John Smith (nice enough, but his leading lady is much better) Eric (Good guy. Not the greatest, but good) Kristoff (just a charming guy. At least the sequel didn't hurt him) Aladdin (Totally get the love. Just not quite there for me) Milo (reevaluated him and I quite like him now!) Naveen (juuuuust outside of favorites. A rewatch will probably help) Tarzan (favorites start here. Not much to say, just a great guy) Kuzco (the comedy alone brought him pretty high up here) Hercules (underrated comical character and a great hero) Shang (great character, I just like others more. Didn't factor in dtv sequels because of him mostly) Phoebus (major upgrade from the source material as well as being and upstanding guy! ) Phillip (first great Disney Prince and still a major favorite. Growing up watching this a lot certainly helped him) Adam (major favorite. Top 10 Disney characters for sure. Magical world was rough for him) Eugene (It's Eugene)
I mean one thing I think you understood wrong about Hans is that he didn't kill Elsa bc he wanted her to stop the blizzard first, he didn't want to rule the frozen kingdom He is cunning so I assume he didn't want to take chances in case the blizzard wouldn't stop after her death not defending him as twist villan I just thought I'd point that out ^^
Prince Charming & Vanellope are kinda similar in the sense that they’re both 14th because of each having a good movie and a bad one that balances them out (not considering Cinderella 2 for obvious reasons)
6:34 In fact, the movie actually does the complete opposite of this! After Hans falls off the boat and Anna leaves, you can see him lovingly happily smile. Not an evil trickster’s grin, or mutter to himself “soon i’ll finally have a kingdom…” for foreshadowing purposes, or anything like that.
The Beast is my solid number 1, he's my favorite Disney character from my favorite Disney movie. I think I might agree with you and put Flynn Rider next. Arthur might actually be my last place, moreso for how utterly underwhelming The Sword in the Stone is.
7:28 i agree with most points you’ve made about hans, except this one. the point of hans wanting “no harm to the queen” is because he wants to be the hero for arendellians. the duke of weselton and his men also wanted elsa dead and he couldn’t let that happen because he wouldn’t be the savior anymore. that’s why he didn’t kill her immediately after finding her in the mountains. when visiting elsa in the dungeon he truly realized she couldn’t control the winter nor herself. then seeing anna slowly freezing to death solidified his plan even more. he never wanted to actually marry her, and now that both girls were in compromising positions, he didn’t have to. that’s why he says he was gonna “stage an accident”, he didn’t have an explicit plan but his intentions were still there.
Still, if they had a better recording schedule, they could have recorded all his lines before his voice changed, then they wouldn't have had to replace him.
Now my favourite is definitely Kristoff. Now I do think it’s a shame what the writer’s team did to him as he could have easily been on the top when it comes to character development, but the little we see is just so sweet, funny and quirky that it’s hard not to love him. Also how he is just selfless and have many good character values, yet is not perfect (fixer upper you might say). He is actually pretty insecure at times and looks to often look down at himself. I really wish that could have been explored more and could show a very realistic issue many people can relate to.
Okay okay jumping in because I rewatched the Black Cauldron a bit ago and I have opinions about Taran!! I agree with it a lot for the most part, he was sooo close to having good character development. But what I also thought is that there was a lot of missed potential with the sword that would have been so cool to dive into! Imagine, Taran wanting to become a great hero but he feel like no one beliefs he can do it. He's out to prove himself and messes up first thing! Then in the dungeons he finds this cool sword and he takes it because he's in fact very insecure, and this sword allows him to believe he is a good hero. Then along the way, he offers his sword, but he doesn't believe in himself anymore without the sword the same way he did at the start of the movie. Then by the end he learns about what it means to be a true hero and saves the kingdom Either way, I really like the idea of Taran using the sword to make up for the fact he isn't sure if he has what it takes to be a real hero (maybe after the words of people doubting him, I feel they could really play with that too). Then after losing the sword he needs to figure out for himself what an actual hero is like, (let him jump into the cauldron cowards! Just give him the classic fake out death!) but the most important thing is that he builds up that confidence and actually believes that he can be the hero he's always dreamed to be. So yeah I'd definitely rewrite some elements but it SUCKS because I feel like if they gave the script of this movie just a few more drafts it could've been good! I don't know if my ideas are making sense right now, these are just some of the thoughts I had while watching the movie
Taran is annoying, constantly whining, loosing Hen wen and not feeling that sad about it, stoling a magic sword, insulting Eilonwi for no good reason. He would never be a prince or a knight. The kid is a bit brave yes but he's not loyal or kind. Taran deserved to be lower than Hans and Florian; they are real princes and he is a farmer! I'm glad Milo is in the list! He's not counted as a prince even if he marries Kida who is a princess (She's a queen in the second movie but i don't count it since it's 3 short stories glued together.) This guy is smart and brave. He fought with the Atlantians to saved Kida, risked his life for them and learned about their culture. What a kind man 🙂
It was the king who sent the duke. I wouldn't be too surprised if Prince Charming took notice that Cinderella fled from the palace and thus choose not to pursue her because he didn't want to force her into something that she was acting anxious about. But that's second part is just a theory.
Hans is my favorite, with Beast following as a close second. I could literally write a whole essay (really, I could write a multiple-page essay explaining why I think the Frozen movies are terrible) on why I think Hans is not only the best prince in the line up, but one of Disney's best characters, period-but it boils down to me seeing him as one of their most nuanced characters; I unironically see him as more of a hero than the main cast of his film. However, I also think that was entirely accidental on the writing team's part, considering how many plot contrivances Frozen has. So I can understand why someone else would place him lower because a lot of the writing choices the creators took make little to no sense. Philip's all right, I like how he fights a dragon on his own to save a chick he barely knows. Eric, Prince Charming, and Snow White's prince aren't interesting to me. Naveen has a good arc, but spends a substantial chunk of his screen time being a jerk. Aladdin is utterly boring to me. Milo's nice, but I've never been a fan of the nerd archetype. And I never liked Eugene. There, I said it. And it's not so much that I dislike him as a character, I just don't like him as a love interest. Apart from that, I don't really count characters that aren't actual princes on the list; so no Shang or Tarzan, or characters that are kings, or from movies I haven't seen yet. Idk about Kristoff, since he's not married to a monarch yet, and he's just sort of... okay to me; in a similar vein as Eugene, I didn't find him particularly funny, plus he came off as too abrasive-I also felt no investment in his romance by the end of the film, the romantic leads still seemed like strangers to me. If we're talking non-Disney: Proteus (Sinbad), Cornelius (Thumbelina), Hiccup, and Zuko are among my favorites.
@Will N If we're talking as part of the official marketing, I know. I'm saying I don't count it because they actually aren't in the story. It's fine if you or other people do.
Hans doesn't work because in the first scene, where he looks at Anna leaving, his face loves into that lovey-dovey expression, and what for? She wasn't looking! That would have been the chance to at least hint that he's two faced. And it went on and on. It would have worked better, if he actually kissed Anna, and then admitted that he liked her, but actually didn't really love her because she's not his type, but he was nice to her because he wanted a position where he matters. Then Anna could have forgiven her, and instead of injecting an unnecessary extra villain, since they already had one, he could have supported Anna and Elsa further and at the end gets a position as an ambassador or something, to go to another kingdom with plenty of princesses, and the promise to not fake love again. No one needed that twist.
I think Hans works because of the Disney prince format the fact he makes subtle clues like being last in line and marrying quickly while also talking about moving in.
