I have used both - S22 entry level 😀. S22 is much more premium and better hardware but pixel has significantly better battery. I personally prefer Pixel 7.

Battery life on S22 makes it a non starter for me. While I prefer a smaller phone, the Pixel 7 isn't substantially larger. As for the cameras, Pixel cameras continue to improve, thanks to software upgrades. A Pixel 4 will take comparable pictures to a Pixel 7 thanks to that AI software. Samsung cameras are about as good as they will ever get. Add the call screening and I'll take Pixel over any Samsung product.
@JohnScottB

Nice! And I agree the S22's battery life is just plain bad. I will say though that Samsung does continue to update the camera software/firmware which historically has improved over time. I've got another video showcasing the S10e vs the S22 and it's surprising how much better the S10e got over the three years that I had it. The S22's camera is improved now over when I got it. Not saying you're wrong about Pixel's continuing to improve as well.

I am using S22, Battery life is not that great (at Home) but for Outdoor really a Powerbank is necessary, but still other features like Camera, UI experience, Small Form-factor and Call-recording made me buy this, also I am a light user of phones, just to make calls/messages, clicking photos or casual Browsing.

You did not mention the price comparison which is a big factor. With Black Friday sale, the Pixel 7 is $100 off putting it at $499 plus trade-in of current phone. I love my new Pixel 7. Getting $325 trade-in for my old phone so this puts out of pocket just a little over $200.
@JohnScottB
@JohnScottB Год назад
You're right, I left out the budget numbers here because they are hard to judge - and it depends where you are in the world. Another big factor is which carrier you have and if you have a trade in. I was able to get the S22 at launch for just $400 by signing up for Google Fi and there are even better carrier deals available now. But I agree that if you're looking at the retail prices, the Pixel 7 is the better value!

I am an iPhone user, deep into the ecosystem. Occasionally, I buy an Android phone to play with. Some apps work better on Android. I bought the Pixel 6 when the Pixel 7 was released. I didn't regret it but the Pixel 6 had a lot of flaws that were annoying. With the black Friday deals, I traded my Pixel 6 for a Pixel 7 for pretty much nothing. Pixel 7 was the phone that the pixel 6 should have been. Everything seeym to be fixed. Fingerprint reader and face unlock works flawless. The PTP usb protocol actually works to import photo to my Mac. Wireless charger actually charges now.

I use the 13 Pro. I picked up the Pixel 7 with a trade in of another phone. I find the fingerprint sensor inconsistent and very annoying. Other than that, I like the phone. Were I to switch back to Android, as I just might do next year, I'll likely be drawn to the S23 Ultra as I've always been a fan of the Note series. My last was the Note 9. I've been in the ecosystem for 4 years now.

It's really up to you to structure these comparaisons however you feel is most relevant to you, but one thing I would consider changing would be to separate the Design/Display category in 2, and then combine the Display/Fingerprint/Speaker into one "Interface" or "Hardware" category. The reasoning behind this is quite personal, but I feel that Design is a full category in itself: you look at the phone all day long so it really matters what it looks and feels like. And then you can talk about the interface between the user and the phone (screen, biometrics, sound, ports, etc.) and the hardware specs of all those. Anyways, that's just my opinion, and this was a really great video! We can tell that you put a lot of effort into it, and we appreciate it!

Although you did noted about the Samsung ecosystem, but I feel like you should of left that part out if you weren't going to show results with Google's ecosystem as well to give those two a good comparison. Either that or grab a smart watch that a fossil or something so neither Pixel or Samsung has the ecosystem advantage. I'd give the camera point to the Pixel 7 especially because the videos you should us, the S22 looked more jittery. The night mode I personally like the P7 coloring over Samsung, but that is just personal preference. To me it's more so a tie in score. Hey, thanks for the comparison and I got to see the hardware on the galaxy S 22 is great. I mean you pick that phone up it fits your hand. It fits in your pocket at the battery life in the slight shutter lad kills it. I ended up getting a pixel seven takes a picture quickly. No blur I don’t do much video so it doesn’t matter to me what it comes to software updates. The differences is the galaxy gets a year old you get further and further back on when you get the updates where is if you get a pixel you get it when it comes out so the galaxy S 23 will come out and then the S 22 will be behind it so you won’t get the updates as quick whereas in the pixel it comes out if you still have the pixel seven you get the update the same time as the pixel 8… I got to say Samsung has come along way with their software and I have a S 10 E I use as a running phone and it’s great if they kept that thing updated I would’ve never gotten the pixel seven

Not a bad take... but I would call the Nexus 6P more of a camera bar that goes across the full width of the phone. The "visor" design specifically means that it wraps around the side as well, which was new on the PIxel 6.

Many reports of reception issues on the pixel 7 that they didn't fix from the pixel 6.

Says who? I had the 6 Pro and the only reason I got the 7 Pro was because of the terrible reception and it couldn’t hold 5g UC in many places that my new 7 Pro absolutely can. The new 7’s have a new modem and I see absolutely no difference from my 7 Pro to my wife’s S22 Ultra.

I had no reception issues on the Pixel 7 during my time with it, so I can't comment. I did hear about those issues on the Pixel 6 so I did test extensively. I'm on the T-Mobile network, for what its worth.

I have both. But for my main I only care about security and privacy. Which is better? For the last 2 years I've been getting security updates on my galaxy phones months late. Been told that it only happened to a small amount of factory defective and broken software phone. Insurance has replaced with a refurbished that was able to update to December 1st security updates. But even though it's a flag ship phone it's supposed to be January and February coming up soon. Does pixel have security update issues? I have trouble logging onto accounts. Apps escalating permissions even with special access change system settings turned off. And wrong credit card charges incompatible with app updates. I don't trust anyone's opinion that didn't experience issues. I'm more interested in someone who has complications and which phone has less issues.
