Thank you for all the high quality tutorials you make for this app! For some reason, when I try focusing on AFC, it doesn’t focus, but focusing works when I use the normal AF with lock.

Thank you! You're welcome. That's strange. If you are filming in shadow like areas/low light locations that could be an issue. Otherwise I'd drop the creator a message as he's really responsive.

It just keeps gettting better and better. I'd love to see gimbal integration and object tracking one day, but even if it never happens (which is understandable) it's rapidly become my go to video app.

I downloaded this app being a beginner to photography/videography but with a strong technical background. I could tell the app was loaded with all the right features but I quickly found out *ahem pardon the pun* that I was out of my depth. Wow. Thanks for the heads up on the new update! Last week I switched from Beastcam app to P3 and glad I made the switch! .... but I did miss the 3-focus point presets on the Beastcam app. Never realized that P3 released an update (in the last few days?) with this feature included. P3 improved on this feature from the other apps. It's in the small details like having large color circles (A, B, C) instead of little numbers (1,2,3) and setting setting focus presets with focus peaking turned on. Nice!

No problem. I do think BeastCam is a good low budget app but P3 is mikes ahead and is constantly being updated. The focus pull feature indeed came out this week. Super happy with this update too!

That would be cool but I think it's likely to only be available via gimbal and connecting to their apps unfortunately.

So much better than the Moment app. Besides in-camera distortion correction I love the way it handles manual focus. I’m amazed more folks aren’t talking about this app as the top filmic pro alternative.

Great tutorial mate. Thanks. One thing though. Where did you get the music for this? What tracks did you use? Oh I forgot to ask, do you have a tutorial on using and exporting LUTs?

Thanks! This video used music from Epidemic sound but I now use Artlist as it's a little cheaper. I don't but it is definitely something I would like to do in the future once I have a more rounded understanding of everything.

Thanks Rob - more evidence that Cinema P3 Pro looks like taking over the mantle from Filmic Pro as the best "serious" camera/video 3rd party app. I'm still waiting for it to add gimbal compatibility for my Ziyhun Crane M3 gimbal - even just the record start/stop function would be good. That would be the icing on the cake. Other than that, so far I'm loving Cinema P3 Pro :)

Thank you - this video has helped me feel much more comfortable with my choice to move away from Blackmagic cam ios app to Cinema P3 - focusing is so much more straightforward - although I haven't tested this when in log mode within the Cinema P3 app - do all the focusing options work the same? In Blackmagic I couldn't get these focusing features to work in Log mode. The only thing I miss not being in P3 is not being able to load in a LUT for display purposes - or did I miss that function?

You're welcome. Yes the focusing features on P3 are great and still work in log. I don't think you can currently preview luts though.

@@SmartphoneFilmmaker While the colored focus peaking technically works, I find focusing in log still very difficult. I've tried to find youtube tutorials on how to nail focus every time on an iPhone when shooting log and haven't yet found one.

Hey ! When you use your Weeble S gimbal to you shut off the stabilizer on your iPhone to shoot videos , I Keep seeing a few vids to do that but don’t do it with my iPhone 14 pro , just wondering what you do

I usually leave regular Stabilisation on with my iPhone even with a gimbal. Never had any issues with that combination.

If you go to display settings on the mini pop up menu and select orientation lock on vertical filming then it should stay vertical. If it still doesn’t I’d message the developer who is very responsive.

Probably just use the focus wheel if you're working in low light. You could try the auto focus for a moment to see how that works.

@@SmartphoneFilmmaker That’s what I thought but how to I disable the AF reticle and just use the Focus peak/preset It's right in the middle every time I open the app. In the native app the reticle triggers just if you tap the screen.

@@bjhq10 Once you hit record you need to only touch the focus wheel after tapping focus from the right hand side. You won't need to tap the screen during a recording if the settings are already correct.

You set your three focus points, hit record and then tap which ever point you want to move to (A,B OR C) as and when you need to. Then it will focus pull for you.
