They really need to track interceptions separately from those that the receiver bumbled, and those where the QB made a terrible throw. 7 of the first 8 interceptions in this clip are entirely the receiver's fault. Not saying that Jones doesn't suck, but just in general.
@@ricopine303 I'm not saying he isn't. Just saying that when a receiver drops/tips an easy catch, that isn't the QBs fault. It should be separated across the board
@@Hjknb-sl1hfhe doesn’t put it in the right spot tbh watch any elite qb they make it easy for the WR the first throw of the video he literally put it low and to the side
Them shits are not catchable. Y’all ain’t neva player wr before, y’all listen to some fake “analyst” that haven’t play a down of football say that just because a receiver got the tip of their pinky in a double coverage jump ball, that they should’ve caught it.
The interception at 4:27 is the worst out of them all. Mac had a clean pocket, then inexplicably ran towards the sideline and cut the field in half, only to then throw back across the entire field right to a defender.
It's bad. Real bad. However, 6:10 is a sure touchdown for a high school QB. The first read is wide open from 20 yards away with plenty of end zone room and Mac underthrows him by about 7 yards with zero pressure in his face. He panicked at the sight of a defender, throws off his back foot for no reason, and puts an absolute floating duck right into the defender's chest. A touchdown that turns into a pick off an awful throw, with a bad read, bad footwork, and minimal defensive pressure that could have even been lessened further by altering the protection a bit (what the RB does here isn't very productive)--just failure in all areas from the QB spot.
It's amazing how many of these bounce of the receivers hands. Mac has either some of the most unluckiest interceptions ever or some of the most why the fuck are you throwing, no in between. I defended him for so long before this, especially considering a lot of the interceptions were on other players with ball ricocheting, but a certain point you can't defend any of the pics he's made, they just keep getting worse and worse and it's due to the fact that's no confidence left what so ever in him. Mac never really had to face adversity like this in life before and he's just not responding well at all.
This lack of confidence is hella not his fault. When your head coach is a washed up, ancient piece of shit who constantly rats you out for every little thing you do wrong, while being surrounded by an absolutely ass team and management, why would you want to play well? He's such a good quarterback. Fire belivhick.
It’s cause he puts them into bad places for the receiver, for example he’s put a ton right at the bottom of the ribs whee your hands flip from palms down to palms up
6:10 - I LOVE that the Colt player is ON THE GROUND. And for like FOUR seconds NOBODY THINKS TO HUSTLE AND TACKLE/TOUCH HIM. Even he's confused like "....Nobody's near me? Alright I guess I'll run now."
Lmao I 100% agree. Tbh I didn’t think he was going to play again after that last benching against the Colts, so I was confident about calling it “EVERY Mac Jones interception”. I’m going to wait until the end of the season, then release an updated version.
As if these picks weren't bad enough by themselves, look back at how many of them occurred in clutch situations in very winnable games. Also, 400th like.
I'm a Colts fan, so I absolutely love seeing the Patriots suck, but the number of these interceptions that were a result of the ball being deflected way up in the air or bouncing off receivers' hands is ridiculous. Some of these are so unlucky.
I compiled some stats from the 36 INTs in this video and the results were just sad. 8 INTs were because of his receivers. 1st and 3rd downs have 3 a piece while 2nd down has 2. INTs because of Mac Jones: 1st down: 7 INTs 2nd and 3rd downs: 9 INTs each 4th down: 3 INTs We know he’s pretty bad, but I’ll be Captain Obvious here and say that this guy is really killing drives, but I mean REALLY killing them.
@@harveyquinn3535 which is probably only a little above average in the NFL. I don't know if you guys watch football or not, but it is pretty common that deflected passes are intercepted.
Carr throws enough INTs as well. Carr's overall record is 68W - 86L with 105 picks he is overrated trash and I'm so glad he is no longer on the Raiders 12 seasons and NO playoff wins
As a patriots fan I’m happy that we aren’t the saints and will never be the saints. Keep practicing and y’all will win some super bowls during your lifetime maybe.
Not defending Jones or anything, but I notice his receiver couldn't catch or offensive lines cant block and pressuring him for a lot of the INTs. Yeah some interceptions like 3:00, 4:27, 6:10, 6:58, and 7:06 are completely his fault from bad reads, but a lot I've noticed are tipped from the receiver and the offensive line is getting beat by every play.
A lot of these deflected passes are from poor ball placement or throwing to receiver who's well covered or both (not putting all the blame on him. His receivers needed to make a play). The pick from 1/15/22 against Buffalo (38 seconds) is a textbook example of what im talking about. #85 is well covered by a defender who has inside leverage and can easily make a play on the ball while #16 is wide open by the sideline. He opts for the risky throw and the defender immediately makes the play. #85 never had a chance.
@@joey2614 No. He is trash. I hated other fans hyping this bum up saying he was the next Brady. Meanwhile Brady was run out of here by that arrogant a-hole Bill Belichoke, and without Brady this guy is nothing. Overrated coach. The year Brady left he won the SB. Hold this L to our organization and BB for letting him go.
I’ll release a new version at the end of the season. I incorrectly assumed that Mac wouldn’t play any more this season after being benched and crying against the colts, but apparently he had more interceptions in the tank lol
Every time i watch videos like this, i always think the same thing - a batted or deflected ball should not be counted as an interception. Why should the QB get penalized if the defender makes a good play, or if the receiver messes up? A better way would be to say the opposing team "recovered a deflected pass", or something like that.
It's funny how often the Dolphins, Bills, Colts, and Saints are the ones to do it. Like I get two of them are in the same division as the Pats but still
As a born and raised patriots fan, Mac definitely has a lot of work to do. no doubt. The thing is, a little more than half of the interceptions are because the receiver didn't secure the ball or actually catch it even though it was in their hands. No doubt some of his reads are pretty bad but half of them are on the reciever.
I'd counter this by saying some of those tips are because he's not throwing very catchable balls. I saw at least a few that were either under thrown or over thrown. Honestly, it reminds me a lot of Jimmy G when he was with my niners. Dude would throw high or low, throw behind guys, and they try to catch it anyway, but the best they can do is get a hand on it. Which is blood in the water for the defense
I see your point. And I don't always agree with the way he's piled on in NE. But man, a lot of those picks were beyond awful. Like terrible stuff from a guy with no confidence. The receivers NE has now aren't the best but his throws too leave some serious room for the defense to cause problems. Either a knock-down or pick.
not a pats fan but I am watching some of these going "it's not Jones's fault that the football slipped like butter through these receivers hands." Some of them are his fault no doubt but certainly not all of them.
This video is a great representation of the level of play difference between the NCAA and the NFL. Corners are burnt on these floated ball on NCAA, but NFL corners eat those for breakfast. The guy can't throw a fast ball if his life depended on it.
Doesn't matter who your receivers are, if you miss them by that much no one can catch the ball. That is not a coaching issue, that is just horrible QB skills and no defensive read skills.
I feel bad for Mac, he hasn't had an easy time in the NFL so far, but also sometimes I see him give zero effort and throw some of the worst passes I've seen out of a professional not playing for the Jets and I just lose all sympathy for him.
The colts Germany one is the worst of them all imo, the only thing close to “pressure” is being picked up, Mac could have stood still in the lovers and would have had atleast another second to throw, but nope just had to force it
I'd sort them from most to least excusable: A. Receiver runs the wrong route or tips a well thrown ball. B. Offensive line fails to protect in the first few seconds (unless it's an obvious all-out blitz). C. Desperation throws on 4th down or in the final seconds. D. Risky throws while down by multiple scores and only a few possessions left. E. Bad weather/Defender makes an amazing play. F. Bad throws while ahead or down by one score. By that system, I'd give the interceptions in this video 8 As, 3 Bs, 3 Cs, 4 Ds, 2 Es and 16 Fs.
That one against the jets where it looked like a bunch of confused outfielders making the pick was INSANE. It's not often you get a bunch of guys who can all make the pick and no receivers in the same zip code.
He honestly throws a good ball I hate to say it. If he had even slightly better weapons and a competent coaching staff I fully believe he could be a functional starting QB.
Mac Jones currently has 36 career interceptions in only 3 years. Keep in mind someone like Aaron Rodger’s has 105 interceptions but has been a starting QB for 16 years!!!
Mac Jones was a baller at Bama, how he’s developed in the NFL is heartbreaking to watch. Like a slow motion train wreck, you feel so bad but can’t stop watching.
Look I´m not Patriots fan at all and I don´t like Bellichick and that whole franchise, but I feel sorry for Mac Jones. Is it really necessary to make a Video like that? Maybe he´s just not ready to be a starter yet, maybe he just needs a year or two as a backup somewhere else?
Yeah I feel bad for him too, this was definitely his childhood dream and now it’s slipping away from him. With a few years as any teams backup QB there’s a chance he’ll improve and get more time on the field someday. Thanks for the comment though, your empathetic opinion needs to be heard more often! (I’m also working on gathering the clips for every Mac Jones running-play, which is a more positive perspective on Mac)
@@jodyfoster9278part of it is that he has had a new offensive coordinator each year and it shows, when he gets pressured he panics and tries to throw the ball up instead of taking sacks or throwing it away to the sideline
@@bobishumin4853 Listen Edlemans comments about him having different coordinators, he said that McDaniel and Obrien's offense is almost identical, and Patricia's offense was basically the same thing. But if you watch the video you'll notice the biggest thing is that Jones throws picks regardless of who the OC is.
He's gotta be cursed. He'll throw the most perfect pass under pressure and it'll still bounce off his receiver's hands, two helmets, a large mosquito, a window sill, a passing BMW, four cats, and a cup of coffee and land right in a defender's hands.
@6:10 THE ABSOLUTE WORST‼️ And the play Patriot Nation ran for the exits on Mac. Clean pocket, plenty of time, Mike Gesicki WIDE open for a TD, throws a soft duck yet again off his back foot directly into the defender’s hands.
In the beginning of the video his receivers messed it up by not catching it and bouncing off their hands, but by middle to the end you start thinking that he may be color blind or had a concussion and forgot which team he plays for or how to throw the ball
Now I’m not saying Mac is innocent - or even good But his receivers are *HORRIBLE* at creating separation and making the tough catches. Hard for a young QB to thrive without consistent WR support.
