Yea, it is funny. He got 1 right out of 20. Injuries, and lack of toughness has stopped a lot of Good quarterback careers. There are alot of intangibles that aren't looked at.
32 Front Offices all passed on Brady 5 times in a row for him to be taken in the 6th round. So it’s not exactly like Mel was the only one that couldn’t see anything special there. Also; his draft analysis is spot on. Everything he said was correct and has been Brady’s entire career. And don’t forget that if Bledsoe doesn’t get injured... you might not even know his name to begin with. And if Brady was drafted by anybody else other than a team coached by Belichick... you might not know his name either. And if the Tuck Rule doesn’t come into play... the dynasty never begins and the Patriots are just a slightly above-average team.
Tom Brady wasn’t a slouch in college. I don’t know if you watched him or not at Michigan. He was a winner. Going on to win at New England was something new for him.
@@beelor5777 yea that's true but I'm pretty sure he would rather be remembered as having a great football career and he maybe could've still been playing today if it worked out
Going to an expansion team was his worst nightmare.. when given at least 3 seconds he was an great qb.. sad that Derek has gotten the same treatment and he has had 2 years of having a decent oline.. too bad his pro bowl LT blew his block and got Dereks ankle broken.
I don’t think josh Allen gets enough credit. He has been the second best qb in his draft. Kiper wasn’t that far off from his pre-draft Josh Allen evaluation.
He’s turned that Bills team around since he’s entered the NFL, next season they could possibly be division leaders if they can ball out. Only thing Allen needs to work on is pocket pressure.
He was dead wrong about Allen. But how can he be right about Jackson? MVP in his second year as a full starter. All three of his first three seasons with 10 plus wins.... I mean he has lost some games but Brady scored 3 points so.....what is your point?
I think maybe he didn't need to mention it because putting woodson ahead of Manning wasn't completely unreasonable. He clearly was a generational talent
@xXTracynXx 360 his receivers are slow? John brown runs a 4.3 Robert foster runs a 4.4, Isaiah Mckenzie also runs a 4.4, Andre Roberts also runs a 4.4, the slowest receiver they have is Cole Beasley who runs a 4.5. Don't make excuses for a guy who can't hit the broad side of a barn past 25 yards. Can't wait to see what all these Josh Allen fans have to say after he constantly over throws Diggs this year lol
Just some dumbass that thinks certain players in the draft will become the next legends of tomorrow while overlooking others that would turn out to become Pro Bowl and First Team All Pro professionals in the league within a certain amount of time.
Fans get mad at their team for not taking who a nerd with no football experience or coaching thinks. Danny Kelly from The Ringer makes crutch arguments for guys he likes and uses the exact same examples as negatives for guys he doesn’t.
That’s so true, it’s wild how wrong the scouts can be about evaluating talent and that’s their whole job. Like Darius Leonard was called the worst pick of the whole draft, only to win defensive rookie of the year and then continue to have success. And josh Rosen said there were 9 mistakes in front of him and so many good players were taken before and after him. It’s so crazy how Josh Rosen gets taken 10th overall, Brady got taken like 6th round I think, and Kurt Warner worked at a grocery store before becoming one of the best QBs ever.
Cant win em all and he reads the scouting reports just like gms do. He relies on what they say and of course they want some misdirection out there. So that’s his cost for being the face of drafts
Yeah I’m sick of hearing people missed on Brady, the patriots missed on him 5 times before they finally hit on him in that draft alone. Brady wasn’t a miss, he’s an outlier and pretty much never happens ever.
Yea he says dumb things like that all the time. This is part of the reason why I miss former presenter Mike Cantalupo, because he knows what he’s talking about, and he didn’t pronounce words and names wrong just for sake of getting us talking. That, and he wasn’t boring as 💩
@@dmoney21 oh ok, your one of them huh, well this reply will be the only one you get from me because I dont feed the trolls. But I think his accolades and accomplishments in his first 2 years in the league will say he not only does not suck, but also one of the best in the league
Billy Mahoney because the knowledge is lacking severely with TPS. If you’re gonna be level headed and talk in monotone while also being completely wrong on some of these evaluations you’d look like a fool. With all these exaggerations and hype it makes their assessments more convincing
David Carr wasn’t a bust, the Texans busted his career for him with no O-line and bad coaching. He would have probably been a good QB for a decent team
Anything on the 2018 and 2019 draft class is waaaay too early. Who knows how that draft class will shape out over the next few years. Lamar could regress. Allen could be MVP. Haskins could be a GOAT. All 3 are talented in their own respects. All 3 still have to work on their game. This is wayyyyy too early. Silly list is silly.
In David Carr’s defense, the Texans drafted him - and didn’t bother to give him an offensive line. He spent most of his career in Houston picking himself off the turf. When he wasn’t desperately running away from defensive linemen.
I love how y'all leave out the fact David Carr was drafted into the worst situation possible going to an expansion and getting sacked 100 times per season with no line protecting him.
It killed me to see him get thrashed every week, they should of sat him for a year or 2, I'm a BILLS fan, but I liked Carr, cuz he's from my hometown, he was thrown to the wolves, doesn't he still hold a record for being sacked the most in a season, and since 2002? Set up for failure!
Hang on...are you using legitimate stats? Stats are for losers. In all honesty, you are 100% correct sir. Even after they finally got something resembling an offensive line, Carr was so damaged that he couldn't possibly perform to the potential he had.
@TheWhiteWhale by the time he got to New York it was over. That poor dude had scrambled eggs for brains by the time he left Houston. He’s just lucky he can still walk.
Exactly that’s why you say, IMO then temper that opinion knowing some that seem like they would be great, simply aren’t and those that don’t seem like NFL QBs kick ass like Tom Brady...the GOAT.
Lol right people dont mention he split time in college and was not a star and let's be honest he wouldn't have been if not drafted by the Patriots I doubt anybody else would have started him or coached him like Bill
ABC D Minus Exactly, the system around him is a huge part of why he became the goat. Not the only reason, he’s hard working and dedicated to the game, but it helps that he went to a team that knew what they were doing
“It’s never easy on the second brother”. Damn, spot on with that one, narrator. Considering the fact that Derek’s the second brother, and TJ is the third/little brother. The irony is not lost here lmao.
He maybe is but he had one great season. Baker had the better rookie year and decent year this year. Lamar won a mvp in their second year. I think next season we will see for sure
Talent wise, Baker is better than Allen. But we all know how the Browns piddle away the prime years of players. I’ll say that Josh Allen wins a Super Bowl before Baker
Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson were the only quarterbacks to lead their teams to the playoffs in 2019. And now analysts say the bills are gonna win the AFC east
He's decent, not great but not terrible. But he's definitely not the best QB of that draft class. Which was the point of his segment. The best QB in that class is Lamar Jackson
Right? As if other analysts, scouts and experts don't have the same opinion as him. He reaches sometimes, but everyone does that. No player is a guarantee and none is a guaranteed bust until they play.
Also uses hindsight to make him look bad... Well ya looking back you can find many mistakes by most of these guys... Thats why the are call predictions
Oh big time bud. It’s not as though other teams didn’t pass on Brady for example. Every team passed on him, multiple times. Kiper called Lamar Jackson a 2nd round pick, and he went bottom of the 1st. That ain’t bad. That’s the most egregious, but there are a lot here.
He wasn't wrong about Tebow. Josh McDaniels was wrong about Tebow. Mel was right on. Tebow was never going to be an nfl QB & should have played TE if he wanted to stay in the league
That Josh Allen thing is an example of where you wait more than 2 years before writing someone off. I also thought Allen wasn’t a great talent. I ate my words after last season
I made it to Josh Allen and couldn't listen anymore because I was laughing too hard. Allen has played 2 seasons, improved the whole time, took his team to the playoffs, and this dude is calling him a bust after playing "a few seasons". How bought show where Kiper was wrong on players who have a career's worth of film. If Josh Allen takes him team to the superbowl and wins a few, Kiper could have been very very correct, if not inconsistent on how he treated Allen's & Jackson's inaccuracy in college. But you can't call the dude wrong before we know the player turns out. This video is worse than Kiper's duds.
at the time many had doubts . He came from a bad program in a bad conference and he threw a lot of INTs . Kinda like he does in the NFL . His arm talent was never in question .
@@burritochaos8912 yes, but his game is predicated on athleticism. He is not that accurate. He may be another Mike Vick, as soon as his speed isn't world class, it will be much harder to be successful. The #1 predictor of success for an NFL QB is accuracy.
@@richfarfugnuven6308 he was picked as the 4th qb in his draft. He has won an mvp. Yeah, it’s currently predicated on athleticism, but he has plenty of time to adjust and get decent receivers
@@richfarfugnuven6308 Steve Young began his career leaning on his athleticism, winning nothing in the process. He retired with the highest qb rating of all time. At 23, Lamar has plenty of time to get those mechanics in order, and even with that said, he still has an MVP under his belt. Even without a bonified receiver, bad release, and missing 2 games due to Covid, he is completing 64.8 percent of his passes, 21 and 8, leads the team in rushing(828, 7 tds). I will say I was dead wrong about Josh Allen. He looks like he may become the best of this class( that's saying something with Lamar and an Odell-less Baker), and Diggs was just what the doctor ordered.
It takes a career to judge a pick. Allen could have a lot of future success as the Jets are bad, Miami seems intent on blowing up the locker room every year and NE will someday lose its HC.
In Mel's Defense, I think he is better than average at Predicting Prospect, which is quite a compliment! You can call out any individual on their Draft Projections, and you will see everyone sucks. Projecting Draft Prospects is Gambling just like wagering on the games! To paraphrase Kenny Rogers, "Win some, lose some, best a Gambler can hope for is to Die in his sleep".
Dak Presscott "saved the cowboys" yet is producing as much playoff wins as Tony Romo and somehow ended 8-8 with some of the best surrounding talent in the 2019 season
I’m the first guy to rip Josh Allen but he’s been the second best qb from a draft that had 5 qbs in the first round and your argument is that Mel whiffed because he said that Allen was a better pick than darnold and mayfield.. well he’s been a better draft pick than mayfield and darnold so far.. this is one YOU got wrong.. then you question him about saying that Tebow wasn’t good enough to play qb and that he was a first round pick.. looks like Mel was right again he wasn’t worthy of playing qb or getting drafted in the first round
To be fair to Andre Wadsworth, he had injury issues. He did have his moments, few as they were. I'm sure without injuries he would have been a solid NFL player for a long time.
How can u even have Dwayne Haskins on the list lol? He’s been a starter for what? 6 games? Also, kiper wasn’t wrong about Jamarcus or leafs ability and potential. They were top 5 picks in their classes. No one could possibly know they were dumping copious amounts of opiates in their Wheaties lol As for TJ watt, you talk like a second round draft slot is a place for bums. Tons of great players come out of the top 3 rounds. Kiper was 3 picks off. That’s not something to nitpick lmao. Russell Wilson was passed on by 32 teams twice and several other teams a third time. So no one really saw him coming as a top 5qb. And finally winston was def the number one pick that year. No question. He’s shown flashes but needs a coach that doesn’t just air out the ball.
I would say most of us Wisconsin fans seen Wilson as a top 5 pick. We knew how good he was and I for one kept yelling at my screen for the Packers to pick him up. He slipped way too far down. No different than TJ Watt. Wisconsin Badger fans knew he was going to be a stud.
WOW! Now who's wrong??..........................You are TPS! Kiper nailed it with Josh allen. Absolutely 1st over-all level player with his Arm and Legs being elite.
I think it’s a little early to say Jackson is a steal or bust. His first year starting nobody had film on him which is why he smoked the league and ran away with the MVP. Now teams have film on him and have adjusted to his strengths. Unless he can adjust and play more consistently, maybe in 4-5 years you can say for sure whether he was a bust or steal
For weeks I remember him going on and on basically guaranteeing he'd be a top 10 pick so I naturally laughed my ass off when he dropped out of the first round entirely.
Lord Trill Me ! To little just a scat back.showcased and featured in a certain scheme. Not a workhorse back able to carry the load or take the pounding. Good complementary back but not a number 1 overall pick back. And Houston certainly knew it and they made the correct pick. He wasn’t even the best RB in his own draft.
I'm not sure how old this video is but as a browns fan I can absolutely tell you I would have loved to have taken Josh Allen instead of Baker Mayfield with the first overall pick!!
I’m only 5 minutes in and this video already sucks . He never said “Julio can’t catch “ he said he has inconsistencies catching the ball. Every single prospect has “weaknesses” coming out . He didn’t trash Lamar . Everyone said that Lamar was a project . He said draft him round 2. And josh Allen is a really good quarterback. He wasn’t that far off on him . I don’t love Mel. But mocking prospects is hard , man.
Julien Forletta Seriously this guy has a list of like 300 guys he has to mock. He’s obviously gonna get some wrong and get some right. Sometimes he’s more off than on but regardless what he does is very hard
Paul Zimmerman after the Dolphins drafted Dan Marino in 1983: "I don't understand it. Where's the great coach that's going to help him with his issues and problems?"
XBROKEN there is no QB in the league that can make all the deep throws. He’s entering his 3rd year as an NFL QB that has displayed dramatic improvement year to year. Once he is able to improve his deep ball accuracy he will be something very special, just wait.
