I have watched the Steelers win 6 Super bowls , and the Pens win back to back with Mario BUT for some reason this was the best. The Pens looked lost at the beginning then a few trades and a new coach who believe in his players and they believed in him unnamed from the AHL PLAYERS BOUGHT UP -who played their hearts out, They went from a OK team to a POWER HOUSE, Its went from BAD TO CHAMPIONS , BELIEVE and things can change . I also remember finding out I had cancer at the beginning ,OF THE SEASON ,but before the play offs they operated and I am CANCER FREE TODAY. IT WENT BAD TO GREAT, FOR ME, 2016. TNKS FOR THE VIDEO GREAT .JOB MY FRIEND.
I agree, I said many months ago before the play offs when the Pens started playing well together when Sullivan joined it was starting to look like 09 all over again.
(Crying like a little baby) -- I wish I would have got to witness the Detroit Lions winning all of the glory but that has never happened . Every time we go against another top contender in the NFC, they beat us. your bad ass running back is from Michigan State.... but I bet you already know that
Irrelevant? Hardly. That was scored with a little over a minute still left in the game. He doesn't get the empty net the Sharks are looking at a one goal game, still very winnable. That sealed the deal, the Sharks may not have scored again after that but it was spirit breaking, who knows if he doesn't get that.
That 2016-2017 team was something else. Just so damn fun to watch. Regardless of what happens moving forward, us pens fans got to watch something very special those 2 years.
Congrats Pittsburgh. I'm from California, Kings fan rooting for the Sharks during the Finals. You guys were the better team. Like your city, too. Good luck next year
Boss Arch Yeah it was a thrilling playoffs for you guys, especially against Washington and Tampa. Look out for that Rust guy you guys have. That kid's for real.
Good to hear from a true hockey fan rather than any haters, Kings have been great to watch in the past 4-5 years, Quick is a beast, and a real classy organization all around... maybe next year we'll get a pens/kings stanley cup matchup =P if the pens don't make it I'd definitely wan't the kings to take the cup or maybe even see the sharks come back and win it... as long as it's not one of the eastern conf. teams who employ mostly dickheads *cough* rangers, flyers, etc *cough*
A lot of credit should go to Marc-Andre Fleury, he was the Penguins first half season MVP. He kept them a float through October, November, and December. The Penguins weren't scoring a lot of goals, but were winning tight games of 2-1, 3-2, etc... and MAF prevented the Penguins from being buried early on in the season with his outstanding goaltending. The one game I believe that turned this team's season around was a New Year's Eve 2015 game in Detroit against The Red Wings. The Penguins got down 2-0, but rallied with 5 unanswered goals to win the game 5-2. From that point on, the team's season changed. They never looked back after that game.
I totally agree.I remember commenting somewhere after the Pens won the cup this year and saying pretty much the same thing about Fleury.I said that the first half of the season Fleury single handedly was the reason they won a bunch of games and people blasted me saying "Oh yeah,on a team with Crosby,Malkin,Kessel,Letang etc Fleury wasn't the only reason they won".Guess they didn't tune in during the tougher times of the season!
I watch the Stanley Cup game every few days and pretend like it's still happening it's good just makes you a good fan of one of the greatest skilled teams of all time
Dont forget 2012 when the kings were the 8th seed and dominated everyone they played against. Im a Pens fan too but that run was definitely more remarkable than what the pens did this year
I knew it. I know you might not believe me but there wasn't any doubt at all during everything (except for the caps series, a few games. I felt like the pens got cheated a bit)
It really isn't for Pens fans it is of course but for an hockey fan it doesn't even come close to the 2012 Kings, 2013 Hawks, 2011 Bruins, 2014 Kings, 2010 Hawks, hell even 2015 Hawks we're better than this cup run lol. 2016 Pens would be at the bottom imo.
I don't think we'll have another team like this for quite a while!! 😓😓 That HBK line was phenomenal. Plus Hornqvist, Sheary, Kunitz, and Rust we're all amazing. On top of all of that, Crosby and Malkin both produced goals like crazy back then. So sad to see what this off-season brings. 😭😭
The rangers were always harder to beat than they should’ve been. I watched every second of that series and it gave me grey hairs to begin. Cullen was one of the best signings in penguin history too
Of the three Stanley Cups I've seen the Penguins win, this was the best one even better than the 09 team. This team looked discombobulated for about the first three months of the season and Sidney Crosby only had 6 goals I believe when the team hit the Christmas Break and a lot of people wondered if Crosby's days as an elite player were over. Then things changed Jim Rutherford traded Rob Scuderi for Trevor Daley right before Christmas, fired Mike Johnston and hired Mike Sullivan (which was the main reason the team turned their season around), and Sidney Crosby found his scoring touch again and went on a tear after Christmas, I believe he scored 30 goals after December 26th and ended up with 36 goals, 49 assists and 85 points and was a finalist the Hart Trophy as league MVP. Then JR added Hagelin, which brought more speed to the team, and then a rookie goalie named Matt Murray filled in for an injured Marc-Andre Fleury, towards the end of the season, and played just out of his mind in the playoffs. The run this team went on was just crazy. Then you had a bunch of young kids, Connor Sheary, Bryan Rust, and Tom Kuhnhackl, who came up from Wilkes Barre and injected youth and energy back into the team. What really showed how this team was different than years past ones in the post season was in the Eastern Conference Finals against Tampa Bay. The series was tied 2-2 and went back to Pittsburgh for Game 5. The Penguins had a 2-0 lead, the Lightning tied it, Penguins took the lead late in the 2nd, then gave up a late goal in the third that sent the game to OT. Then if I remember, I believe Tyler Johnson scored a bad goal in OT off Marc-Andre Fleury that gave the Lightning a 4-3 win and a 3-2 series lead. In years past a bad loss would have doomed the Penguins in Game 6. This team however responded and Mike Sullivan went back to the rookie Matt Murray who played outstanding in Game 6 and The Penguins Stars delivered in Tampa for Game 6, Crosby, Letang, Kessel all scored in that game and the Penguins won a clutch game and ended up coming back home and winning game 7. That's when I realized this team was destined to win it all after they beat Tampa Bay in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Great Video! Great playoff run this year, was a lot of fun watching it! One of my favorite parts of the finals was when Hammett/Hetfield played The National Anthem at game 4 in SJ
I will never remember any moment as much as this Stanley Cup. I've been a Pens fan my whole life but for some reason this team felt special over all of the others
Hockey is the best sport because all the players are down to earth just like us. It's totally proven when any team wins the Stanley cup and every player on the team "desecrates" it by doing all the various things to it while in their personal possession.
Long time coming, but mostly thanks for the great hockey. A great day for it and thanks for making Pittsburgh a championship hockey town. Hard not to see the whole organization, for example, Rick Tocchets influence on this team, gritty and determined. He should be proud--these boys are a joy to watch. Nobody could skate with them, defensively responsible and able to exert instant and tremendous offensive pressure.
Not only the fastest team I’ve seen in my time watching hockey but also one of the best. Daley, Rust, Malkin, Crosby, Letang, Kessel, Cullen, Schultz, Sheary, Hornqvist, Kunitz, Dumoulin, Hagelin, Bonino
Just a heads up for everyone about the logo in the bottom right, this was originally planned for my channel. However I thought a sports video on a gaming channel wouldn't fit to well, so I decided to make this channel. Much more to come! Be sure to subscribe.
My God, that third line of Hagelin-Bonino-Kessel may have been the best third line the Pens have ever had. Yes they had their stars, but the cups are not won without this third line.
We are better than the Hawks that won 3 out of the 6 cups right now we are because they lost all their players due to salary cap had we played them with this team and theirs in 2010 could've gone either way
+Nicholas Chiusano you can't really compare with teams like Columbus, it's just we are expecting to win cups kinda like the Blackhawks because of the kind of players we have and we have seen these players do so well
I always visit this video and other highlight videos against the Lightning looking for RaidPirate to talk about how Bishop had better puck handling skills than Vasilevskey and would've won the series for TB had a Penguin not injure him. Lol
the penguins won 3-1... I think ure missing a gaol.. n not just a goal... but the goal... that open netter was absolutely awesome n idk why u don't even show it...???
It was my mistake, the empty net goals were much harder to find, I appreciate the comment. I found it now but the videos up. I'll be sure to make newer videos even better.
