I reeeeally want to see them tackle the scarecrow. He was criminally under-utilised in the Nolan trilogy. A much scarier, psychological thriller take on him would fit perfectly into this universe imo.

I whole heartedly believe that Batman used venom at the end to save Selina. He felt very reluctant. Maybe he's ready met Bane or will have to use Venom in the future to beat him. Maybe become addicted like he has in the comics. Also now that Colson died, Gotham needs a new District Attorney. So maybe Harvey Dent could be introduced in the sequel.

I still think you're probably right about the Court of Owls being a larger threat, I just think they're gonna slow burn it. They did mention the founding families, conspiracy, all that. My guess is subtle hints next movie that there is more going on with the founders and that the murder of Martha's parents was more than a murder suicide, followed by a true court of owls focused third film

I hope the Joker is mostly a background character like he was in a deleted scene in The Batman. Reeves has kind of hinted he’s more interested in other villains

I absolutely loved the little bit about Martha Wayne's maiden name being Arkham and her battle with mental illness. Love how it ties Batmans relationship with the asylum just a little more and how it kind of references the Flashpoint version of Martha who went batshit crazy

I loved the movie, I’ll be honest though I’m not crazy about more Joker. I know he’s the arch enemy and almost had to be in it, but I really hope we see different villains for awhile before he comes up.

I’d love to see a Arkham “Interview” series, where it’s a sit down interview with a different villain each episode with footage of the crimes etc, very much like a true crime documentary.

If you pay close attention, you'll notice that the ending of the movie heavily implies that the obscure DC Comics character Bruce Wayne/"Batman" will feature prominently in the sequel.

I’d like to see Robin, as way to show Bruce transition from the loner/recluses billionaire, to the warmer/more open figure that is clearly set up at the end of the film. I think villains like Hugo Strange, Kirk Lanstrom, Professor Pyg, Jonathan Crane could be introduced in the GCPD/Arkham show, with villains such as Harvey Dent, Black Mask, The Ventriloquist could be introduced in the Penguin show.

I'm now just going to assume that Mason is in every Mr Sunday video even when it's just James talking.

Mr. Freeze has always been the most intriguing backstory for a villain. Seeing Mr. Freeze in a grounded Matt Reeves world would be incredible.

The ending of this video was more shocking than the ending to The Batman

Reeves may want this to be super grounded in reality, yet it definitely felt like some of the more fantastical stuff like Poison Ivy and Clayface are not impossible either. You're telling my that green liquid he injected himself with wasn't venom? They've got their fake drophead drugs, let's not take all the possibilities off the table just yet. If you've got contact lens cameras that have audio capturing capabilities, or at least can sync with an earpiece that can, we're already pushing the limits. Mad Hatter can control people's minds with a simple thing placed on their heads, and that kind of tech feels absolutely possible with these contact lens things existing (I don't care if they're Wayne Industries experimental tech). If you're pushing the tech and chemical boundaries, why not some of the other stuff with reality and just treat it as a serious thing?

Definitely think Joker should stay as a side-character until maybe a spinoff after the 2nd or 3rd movie. Wishing for a Heart of Ice adaptation with Freeze and then either a Court of Owls or Hush adaptation. Think Robin would work as a more street-level makeshift hero similar to We Are Robin but make it Dick or maybe skip to Jason to more suit the world Reeves has created

Feel like court of owls would suit this Batman universe so perfectly. Actually giddy thinking about it

I want a redone Scarecrow. Matt Reeves can really make him scary.

I so desperately want Scarecrow as a main villain and I feel the “grounded” version of him could be absolutely terrifying

I'd like to see a Clayface film that is more of a detective story with horror elements focused on him, with body horror or body snatcher type horror because of his abilities.

I truly believe this could be pushed to more than a simple trilogy. The Batman (2022 one) was incredibly and should continue so that it can become more than a trilogy.

I’d love Court of Owls but considering how much of that movie would be a retread of the Thomas Wayne turns out to be less pure than Bruce thought storyline I think it would work better as a trilogy finale rather than sequel.

I found the weird importance of Batman’s adrenaline rush at the end of the film to be interesting. Maybe with a destroyed Gotham the Batcave/Battrainstation would also be destroyed leaving all that serum to be scattered around to be found by Bane

The only capacity I'd really want more joker focused story telling is if they do the war of jokes and riddles comic, otherwise I think he should just be in the background

I think the Riddler saying "I just ordered a pumpkin pie" as he's getting arrested may be a hint towards Scarecrow appearing in the universe at some point, which I'd love to see

I absolutely loved this batman film, this is the first one where they managed to not show Bruce's parents being murdered (which was a nice change) and also this take on the Riddler was really cool. I could be biased tho, since I am an accountant myself.

I honestly think Mr. Freeze and Court of Owls would be amazing. And as much as I want Reeve's Joker interpretation I think I wanna see more villains get spotlight

I love that if you are watching closely, the riddler and his goons are in almost every scene with civilians, including a lot of the police investigations and action scenes. You can even see him with binoculars in his apartment across from the iceberg lounge a few times.

I’d think it would be cool if they confined the Joker to Arkham, and he acted as a corrupting influence on all the villains Batman sends there. Like the Riddler was already a messed up guy but being in close proximity to the Joker makes him worse, makes him up his game and take it to a new level. Kinda like that villain The Designer who’s whole thing was to meet with other villains and help them with plans, to make them evolve faster than the heroes could keep up with and leap ahead of them.

The amount of laughter I had finding out Mason was there the whole time just listening silently woke up my entire house. Also, I would like 1 alert when there’s more info on the Arkham series, if you please 😃

I want Calander Man. I think he's a guy that could really work in a grounded story

I’d love to see Harvey Dent introduced and stick around as Harvey Debt for a longggg time. So like if there four or 5 movies, he would become two face until the end of the series. Think that would be sick, and cause us to all fall in love with that character and their dynamic and could stretch his story out over the course of the series

I really want the sequel to be a hush story line, and then followed up by a court of owls story

I would love to see the Mad Hatter as a villain, I think his mind control tech can be very terrifying like Killgrave was in Jessica Jones. Any of batman's allies can be a sleeper agent even Alfred or Harvey Dent

I think Hugo Strange and/or Scarecrow will be the villains in the sequel. In the interrogation scene at Arkham, Riddler kept saying "Bruuuuuce...Wayyyyyyne". Bruce kept glancing at the security cam. I think they could be on the other side.

It might have just been me, but I was getting strong vibes that the mayors son could be Robin. They were focusing heavily on him during the scenes he was in.

Given how much it was about reexamining your parents as an adult, I think this Batman should have a Robin at some point.

I really hope they introduce Dick Grayson, I’d love to see him make Robert Battinson happier.

I would really like to see Mr Freeze as the main antagonist in the sequel; he at first works with, then betrays, Hugo Strange, who works for Wayne Enterprises. Both those villains deserve the spotlight and would do super well in this new universe. Also if Robin doesn’t show up down the line imma be upset.

I’d love for the next two movies to be Court of Owls and Mr. Freeze

I think scarecrow would be really interesting for them to tackle. Especially in this universe where they can make more leaning towards a thriller type movie. Also mr freeze would be awesome since he hasn’t gotten a very serious live action role yet. And hush is by far my favorite Batman villain so seeing him live action would be pretty cool to me.

i love how transparent matt reeves is about this franchise, he just lets us know whats up and what his plans are. theres no bs. i love when writers/directors are left to their craft and the studio lets them do what they want with it.

The Mason reveal was legitimately shocking.

Also I would love to see a Bruce Wayne in a movie who actually kind of secretly enjoys performing as the carefree socialite Bruce Wayne. And exploring how he needs that just as much as he needs to be Batman i.e. Batman is the person who could have saved him from his trauma and Public Bruce Wayne is the person he would've been without it.

This movie was honestly amazing. Having been a Batman fan all my life, I was left speechless. Matt Reeves mentioned that he would love to do a grounded version of Mr. Freeze and my god would that work so well. I just recently rewatched The Batman Animated Series episode “Heart of Ice” and his story would just work so well in this universe. In that episode, Mr Freeze’s whole thing is getting vengeance for His wife. He wants to murder those who were responsible for cutting funding and tampering with his experiment, which ended up killing both him and Nora He is driven by vengeance much like Bruce was in this first film. Freeze is cold (lol), lacks emotion, and is blind to the fact that his commitment to vengeance is hurting people. Bruce was kind of in a similar spot throughout The Batman. At the end, though, Bruce started to realize that his vengeance was being misinterpreted and inspiring fear and even more terror. Crime wasn’t dropping, in fact, it was rising. He began to realize that the only way for him to truly overcome the darkness of Gotham City was to inspire hope. To have a sequel with Mr. Freeze would force him to face off against someone who is just like him. The only difference is Mr. Freeze let his trauma and vengeance consume him, while Batman finally has beat that temptation. Freeze is a villain you can sympathize with and who has many layers so I think a story with him would perfectly line up with where Bruce is currently at mentally and emotionally in this universe. The similarities between the two and their stories would make for some compelling drama. It would be cool to see the Court of Owls as well. They would definitely fit this universe too :)

As awesome as that one minute of the Joker was and I'd love to see what he could do with over 2 hours in a dark, depressing and terrifying movie, I definitely want to see the other more "grounded" of the villains because Paul Dano's Riddler in this was beyond amazing. That Hush reference in the movie got me wanting that for sure.

Please don't do Joker *AGAIN.* I think they could do Freeze if they just get rid of all the freezing stuff. Just a doctor who crosses the line. But, I want them to stick with the psychological thriller detective angle. Maybe Hush, Black Mask, Zsasz, Firefly, Deathstroke, Deadshot. There's an entire slate of crime/detective they can do. They don't need to jump into strange and wacky right away.

I really want to see Mr. Freeze done Justice, although I’m entirely confident that he would gel with the world Matt Reeves and everyone else involved have created.

Court of Owls is probably a lock, but what I want even though it would have to be a multi-verse movie & I don’t see it for this universe/version of Batman BUT a great villain would be “The Batman who laughs” in this dark setting. Imagine an evil, Joker like Pattinson as the antagonist

If the team that made this Batman movie re-imagined/re-worked Heart of Ice from the animated series to the live action big screen I would be totally down for that. Frankly though, any story this team wants to tell I will be completely down for.

The film was absolutely outstanding if anyone tells you different there just plain wrong but the joker in this was the equivalent of "I'm the joker baby!" Terrible.

A young physically inclined male youth with a dead parental figure was introduced in Batman. Could totally see this being a take on Tim Drake discovering who Batman really is. Batman playing a heavy role in the death of the father alongside Riddler, Batman's identity being toyed with with that plot line. I wouldn't mind seeing it all connect. An off the wall prediction. If this universe is still around after half a decade of spin offs, sequels, and prequels(prequels being where I think a joker storyline would fit best), the gritty John Constantine will be the most likely introduction to the arcane. Cuz they'll do it eventually.

i reckon a Robin that has a similar suit design to Damian Wayne's would be nice in live action. i also think if a Catwoman spinoff happened it could just be called "Bludhaven", like the "Gotham" tv series. Jervis Tetch as the mad hatter could work as well in the universe or a character such as professor pig mutilating gothamites.

Would love to see Man-bat in this universe, like some sort of hideous Guillermo del Toro gothic nightmare dark universe creature of the night roaming and killing the citizen of Gotham, with Bruce having to figure who’s behind the killings and such.

TWO-FACE! The fact that GOTHAM completely fumbled that character arc. The fact that Christopher Nolan fumbled a great Aaron Eckhart performance by having Heath Ledger steal the show! No offense to Mr. Ledger, but damn Nolan. We just seemed doomed to have no live-action, stand alone film focused on Harvey Dent's descent into the Duke of Duality. Well, here's to the 30th anniversary of the only medium to get Two-Face right.. . BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES. Your move, Matt Reeves....

I’m very interested in seeing this story of the movie continue. The idea that Gotham is just getting worse and potentially having Batman and Bruce Wayne working on both ends to see real improvement. Like I would love if by the end of movie three there is hope for this city and it feels like things are better in someway. Because this isn’t a comic that has to go on forever I’d like to see the city be more then trapped in a cycle of badness forever. Also why are they making so many shows gosh??? Also the penguin isn’t even like. Fully risen to being the penguin. He’s half rised. So is that show a prequel? A sequel?

I hope they do Court of Owls in the second film, it would solidify the first movie’s thesis that the elite of Gotham don’t really care about Gotham itself and might force Bruce to become a political figure by the third movie. But most importantly, with the MASSIVE rogues gallery of Batman… please don’t do the Joker again. Unless they convince Willem Dafoe to be the Joker… but otherwise, leave him in Arkham.

I hope they do a sequel to this where we get to see what Bella and Edward have been up to over the past 10 or so years, and an update on how things are with Jacob and Renesmee; they would have started dating by now, right? Also the gay Italian vampires are still out there so they could still be the big enemy

I liked the part when Kristen Stewart looked at him and asked "W-who are you?" and then he looked her in the eyes and said "I'm Batman", then sparkled in the pale moon light.

Martha wayne being referenced to as in and out of mental hospitals could be a nice set up to a flashpoint joker, i know they wouldn't do it but the easter egg is there

1). Joker, obviously... 2). Edward Elliot as Tommy Elliot aka Hush's father so we know how his hate for the Waynes starts in this version. 3). Harvey Dent/Two-Face now that DA role is vacant he might step up in the sequel and the mention of Salvatore Leone who burned his face in the comics. 4). The Court of Owls with all the corruption around the city's rich and elite in this film, they could even reveal that they had a hand in the Wayne's murder as part of their grander plan 5). Bane??? There's that serum Batman injects himself with that turns made him rash and angry so which could be the infamous Venom drug.

There already was a Robin in this movie (kind of): In the group of thugs with the painted faces from the beginning of the movie, one guy has only half his face painted. That actor plays Tim Drake, a.k.a. the third Robin in the comics, in the TV show 'Titans'.

I've got an idea on how to make a 'grounded' Mr. Freeze that isn't on the refrigerated cyborg side. Storyline & everything. Sad shame that I couldn't pass my ideas along. (*Note: Being an artist, it would be easy for me to envision the final look. I'm good that way.)

Although he’s not hinted at or referenced in the film, I’d like to see Harvey Dent/Two Face appear in this universe. Although I enjoy The Dark Knight version, I think in this continuity they could lean more into a Two Face that’s even more like the one in The Long Halloween, he would be a great fit in with the universe and the Harvey Dent side could also connect in with the Bruce Wayne side and him wanting to help the city as Bruce as well as Batman.

Ideally I'd like to see 5 of these Batman movies with Robin either coming in for the 2nd or 3rd movie. I wouldn't want to see Superman because imo batman's stories are far more interesting when the justice league or other superheroes aren't involved and it's just him and Robin and maybe Batgirl. Also I think it'd be cool if the first robin is Jason Todd and he dies and comes back as red hood in one of the movies. I'd like Deathstroke to be the final villain he faces in his fifth movie. It'd be cool to see Deathstroke in one of the other movies as a minor villain that might just be working for penguin or someone else and there's a quick fight between him and Batman but then he comes back as the main villain in the last movie

I love how Reeves set up the entire Rogues gallery as kinda being out there so he can go in any direction. He talks about the Hush origin, the Drop Head drug and mask is likely Scarecrow, the adrenaline booster he uses could be a proto type of Bane's venom, they'll likely need a new DA in the next one, etc. And of course there's Joker and Penguin who seem to be important in the coming movies.

The only thing I hope for in a sequel is more scenes with Batman using a Baseball bat. WE NEED MORE ROBBAT BATTINBAT WITH HIS SIGNATURE WEAPON!

I think Superman could exist in this universe and I would be fine with that because this batman universe actually feels hopeful and not completely grounded given how much of a upfront hero batman is in it. Unlike nolanverse where it is completely grounded and batman stays to the shadows completely or the snyderverse which is a miserable place where superman does not feel like superman but some flying pessimist, and well batman is a murderer in that one. But they need to let this universe bloom and grow a bit more cause right now it is a gorgeous blossom with the potential to turn into a wondrous flower where DC can stay gritty for batman but have that underlying message of hope which can be given to the rest of it fully.

Anyone else think that the mayor's son from the beginning could become robin? He looks about the right age and the red costume he has in the opening could be a set up

I'd love if this joker had the pitch-black eyes with the little white dot, like from The New Batman Adventures. It'd look creepy as hell in this universe and could be a direct result from the chemicals getting into his eyes during his origin.

When I noticed the thing about Hush in the movie I had a feeling that it was going to mean something, with Riddler in jail it would be a good direction to go in the second movie. A part of me would love to see the court of owls though… Or even the possibility of Bane because that “adrenaline” Batman used could also be written off as “Venom.” So many different options

Either Patrick Wilson failed to stop the moon from falling or he's just bitter Night owl wasn't allowed a sequel for Watchmen.

It’s weird to say no magic/aliens then say super man isn’t off the table. I liked the gritty realism of this film. He had a shotgun blast to the chest and was pretty incapacitated for a second there lol. Catwoman series should revolve around bludhaven and potentially a night wing? But that’ll be hard to set up without a robin

Wow Robert Pattinson literally understands what the court of owls story is 100%. Batman thinking it’s his city and finding out it isn’t.

Honestly, I really want to see this version of Batman face the Scarecrow. This Batman (even more than the past iderations) is all about controlling fear so it'd be interesting to see him fight someone who does the same thing but for evil. Or maybe even a version where the Scarecrow is incapable of feeling fear and thus the symbol of Batman has no effect on him.

Hush, Bane and Joker are all teased. Scariest Batman villain of all time - The Birthday Boy. He’s be good.

Best movie news/review/discussion on RU-vid. At a time when the market is oversaturated with edge lords, politicos and self appointed gatekeepers of "good and bad", it's refreshing to see a Channel that just gives us the fun and interesting stuff and not the other mad gaslighting crap that has everyone at each other's throats.

I do genuinely believe that the Riddler will become Hush in the 3rd movie of this series, after all of his hints and the whole "Gotham loves a comeback story" line.
