I'm really into the novels. Never got into the models or games, but have always been curious about the way they "create" new forms. Which is the best novel to read about the 'nids?
I'm new to the W40K universe and very hyped for the space marine 2 release! Watching lore videos really help me understand the universe and the way your explain stuff is really engaging and entertaining. Thank you and keep up the great work!
You just are a danger enough to the swarm that they feel the need to send their best at you. FIGHT ON BROTHER! YOU ARE WORTHY OF THEIR BEST IN NUMBERS SO KEEP PROVING YOU ARE ONE OF THE BEST IN THE IMPERIUM!
The more people finding the greatness of 40k the better, we're more likely to get more quality 40k games then ( still waiting for the dream 40k battlefield style game)
Would love a video about the less seen Tyranid creatures, aka the variations so that we can spread some lore about the almost forgotten creatures. like Shrikes, Nightgaunts, Cerebore (transport) and the Viragon :D hopefully with enough who likes them GW might make them :D
I understand why you didn't cover old one eye, but I am infuriated nonetheless. The carnifex accidentally harnessed the plot armor of named characters, if it ever reconnected to the hive mind the galaxy would be doomed. The greatest feat of his durability has been tanking an exterminatus to the face and not dying..
@@chaplainarkanus6410 He probably could, but when the closest comparison is someone breaking the rules of reality to continue living, that might be a little problem.
Wait, Old One Eye disconnected from the Hive Mind? Damn, that's really funny. Even with no synaptic capabilities, and no space travel capabilities, Old One Eye is still frighteningly intelligent and probably hitchhikes on other Hive Ships. The other Tyranid fleets just roll with her being there because who's gonna tell the immortal carnifex no?
This was fun! ^^ GREAT to see you guys back at it! Starting "small" and moving up was interesting. A new approach for me. Covering both Iconic bioforms and lesser-known facts. Makes it fun for those of us with maybe *too much* 40k knowledge :)
@@MoreLoreYT Too much for my own good, I think 🤔 Like, there are plenty of *great* LoreTubers that I simply can't get into. Because they're re-treading knowledge I already know. But the presentation can be great, and same for thier personalities. So I feel a bit bad 😅 Because I know it's good content, I just... know too much :P
15:30 as someone new to warhammer. I am excited and very afraid that the bug things have c a n n o n s. This in my fresh eyes is bad. Do not give the highly adaptable evolution bugs a big artillery piece. This is known as a mistake
It’s not a Broodlord which leads the cult, it’s a Patriarch- Broodlords are for direct combat and spawned that way, Patriarchs are Genestealers who evolve to lead a cult.
They used to be my favorite army until I desovered Grey Knights paired with Sisters of Battle. I simply loved the bio-morphed warriors but I got so burned out with painting Gaunts which is why I switched armies. BTW< this is the best video I've seen describing the Tyranids... @More Lore, Great Job!
You forgot about the Screamer Killer organism. I’m pretty sure it’s not a unique character in the same vein as Old One Eye, the Red Terror, or the Deathleaper.
@@HB-fq9nn yes and no, he did mention the carnifex if he was going to also mention every variation of every creature it would have been a very long video i mean he mentioned the rib mounted grappling hooks 0 times and should he then mention the adrenal and venom glands they can also get as a bonus the thing isnt even screaming, its just the superheated air escaping its exoskeleton
I think sci fi has always had bio armies that are "insectoid" because they make good enemies. Like you can be brutal and ruthless to bugs and no one cares. So they make good enemies that you can blow up and everyone in the audience will cheer. Also bio armies are cool IMO. That being said I think most of them end up being uninspired.
@@hhjhj393 they are also based on reality since bugs are the only species beside human to make an army that numbers in thousand. Other animals are only able to make an equivalent of a human street gang at best.
Finally got a mate to get into this franchise. Told him to look into Tyrranids and 40k lore in general. He came into work the next day, bags under his eyes and straight up said "There's so much.. there's so fucking much bruh!"
Not really. Both eldar are too lacking in numbers to do shit. Chaos emphatically really really dont want to, despite what their puppets tell themselves. Since everyone gone means chaos gone. Tau cant, dwarfs cant, internal imperial factions cant. Orks are always said "they'll just call their friend over and its all over", but in reality the largest known ork empire led by intelligent orks got rolled by a single star system with two planets that made a few extra ships and a miniscule amount of slightly bigger dudes. Necrons are the only one that are in theory a even bigger threat than the tyrranids. But they'll never be allowed to do anything or even be meaningfully superior (hell, even just equal) to the mighty SPESH MARNES, so they'll remain pathetic too.
@@Hidacal the whole point is that its all stagnated and WONT go anywhere, neither will the tyrannids. Eldar are on their way to a breakthrough to a way to free their souls from slaanesh and DID conquer the galaxy once so why couldnt they again? It would take MANY years but theyre an ageless race. Orks evolve with the threats they face so if the tyrannids become too powerful the orks will evolve back into Krorks, which are also easily galactic dominators. The emperors death could trigger his rebirth as a "chaos" god and therefore plunge humanity into a golden era where they might be able to retake the galaxy. Theyre ALL set up for potential galactic domination OR utter destruction, except MAYBE the Tau who still have their extremely fast developing technology and adaptability working in their favor. Dont forget that the league of Votaan are CURRENTLY using the same AI that nearly destroyed the galaxy in the age of strife and are a clone race that can produce more of themselves at will. If everything is OP, nothing is.
@@LordCreamBoi Tyranid threat level really is one level beyond all the others. They're in a seperate class. Whether or not that's their function in the story I wasn't factoring. I was drawing from their lore
As he said at the start of the video, named Tyranids won't be included. The Swarmlord is a singular being, its just reborn whenever its died with an adaptation to whatever killed it last time onto whatever battlefield the Hivemind needs it, or rather, where a writer needs their named Space Marine to seem strong and cool killing a large threat.
I love your lore videos, please keep making them and releasing more content. With Space Marine 2 out and with 2 million and counting players I think your channel could be very successful
As a newcomer your videos explaining lores and knowledge has been really entertaining and informative, though I do hope to watch a lore about Terra in the future knowing that it’s probably a shit ton to cover! Anyways have a great day and keep up the great vids 👍
I'm just getting into the world of 40K and your videos are amazing 👌 very well done but also helped me to understand a lot I didn't before and answered questions I didn't even know I had 😂 lol very cool
Fun fact a swarmlord which is a hive tyrant, is the only tyranid to be completely independent of the hive mind, it needs this to be able to control the battlefield and the swarms under it, it is meant to be the ultimate killer
I really enjoyed this video I just wish you talked more about the gene stealer Because it doesn't lay eggs. It literally changes the DNA of the species it comes in contact with
And these are just the bioforms that got models, there are a few more mentioned in lore, their ammo is often also alive. There are also microscopic Tyranid liforms.
So, tyranids are like evil lizardmen from warhammer. They too have their "great plan", but instead of choosing to purge or to save, like lizardmen, they just consume.
@@BartoszBąk-b8o they're originally Warhammer Fantasy Battles until they were also ported to AoS. They are NOT AoS, they are WHFB first just to be clear.
I've currently got a bit of a hyperfixation on Turanids. For as long as i remember, they've been in my top 5 alien species of all time. But right now, because of two recent events, I'm a bit obsessed with them. I'd love to know more about the Hive Fleets. Not just the main three though. All of them. I'm talking Jormongondr, Gorgan, Cerberus. I'm even thinking of starting to collect the models, despite the cost, and painting them Jormongondr colours.
The emperor will be the delicious cherry on top of the galactic ice cream and when he is devoured, the tyranids will move on to the next galaxy like they did countless times to countless galaxies before.
@@russbas2315 I’m a Heavy/Vanguard main. Vanguard is my highest. I’m just terrible at the game and i’m trying to dodge and shoot them, but I either get screw by the other Tyranids or I don’t dodge on time and I get hit by its beam and other attacks
@@russbas2315 I’m more surprised how my Vanguard is level 17 and my Heavy is level 10 and I have no problem fighting a Ravener and a Lictor, I’ve been hearing from some people saying they’re hard and annoying to fight. @@CT--gu5ng low-key I'm a bulwark main and I have that "specific" perk so I can't relate. Other than that to me lictors and raveners are also easy to beat but they are annoying to hunt down
Watching and hoping that we get to see most of these guys in Space Marine 2. Can you guys make a video soon about all the Chaos Daemons and all the xeno species that serve the Tau Empire aka Greater Good?
3:00 This statement is technically wrong. Yes I know im really picky here, but I just wanna talk about the tyranids so let me have my fun please. There are several other types of Tyranid organisms that are even smaller than Rippers. More Lore has described them while describing other bioforms, without noticing them. I will describe a few: 1: Ammunition beetles, like the ones shot by the Fleshborer weapon symbiont. Yes you read that right: The Fleshboarer shoots little bugs the size of bullets that will eat through a targets body super fast until they die by overstuffing in a couple of seconds. Meaning if you get shot by a normal termagaunt, you gonna be in a whole rainbow if pain before death takes you. And the nids have many more different kinds of such living projectile things. 2: Spores: Tyranids arent only sending combat symbionts into battle. They also spread giant clouds of spores across a planet. Wherever the Tyranids go, their plant spores will follow them. These spores can either be directly dangerous to an individual, or develop into a plethora of different Tyranid flora with a myrriad of different purposes for one singular goal: To completely overpower an eco system and prepare it for consumption. Thats what you can see in Space Marine 2. The Tyranid flora blends into the background, but you can see it everywhere, overtaking the local ecosystem in the jungle. This spore stuff isnt *everywhere* everywhere, but the danger of accidentally stumbling into a cloud of spores and die from lung demage or other equally terrifying effects is extremely high. For that reason it is standart imperial procedure to equipt all non-Space Marine personel with air filtering masks when engaging on Tyranid infested planets. Its also a tiny detail the game misses for the purpose of showing more faces AND the planets we are fighting on still have very clean airspace, wich wouldnt be the actual case, as seen in Dawn of War 2. An understandable creative decision but a detail that tones down the actual dread of a tyranid invasion. The air should be dark, green, red and orange with big mists and clouds shrouding everything in a dark gloom of impending doom and restricting clear vision of the distance. 3: Digestion critters: There is a myrriad of different micro- and mini-organisms in the liquids the tyranids use. Some work to take down organic tissue so the acids can work better, other distribute toxins to subdue prey. There are several novels that describe imperial ships beeing destroyed by Tyranid acids with the crew encountering a whole rainbow of different ... things ... coming out of the liquid. All in all the Tyranids are an organic attack against a planet on every scale. From acidic molecules to single celled organisms to giganting Hive Ships, the Tyranids have it covered. (btw I know some HALO lore freaks who continuoulsy argue that the Flood from Halo would be able to beat the Tyranids, but they usually lack the intel about the nids that reveals that the Flood would loose that battle on the very microscopic level they think is its strength. So if you encounter such an individual, now you have the proper weapons to again defend the meme "Warhammer always wins")
I feel like the more recent evolution of the neurothrope indicates that psychic phenomena likely don't exist outside the milky way, as it seems to be something new to the tyranids. The warp also works as a sort of explanation for why heroes are disproportionately impactful, which is something that causes a lot of trouble for the tyranids.
The craziest thing is, this is more a list of Imperial designations, for the ones they've come across. So adaptive are the Tyranids that they'll always be scope for some fresh, new hulking abomination to be spawned.
Tyranids design all their bio forms for specific purposes, so when new situations arise, they'll build an entire new species to combat this new situation.
Great video. So little lore on Tyranids and you made a 30 min roster. Would be cool if you got Swarm Lord, Deathleaper, and Old One Eye and all the battles they have been in. Think Calgar fought swarm lord twice.
Yeah I do constantly think about the concept. The tyrannids and zerg don't make much sense to me, but I do enjoy them. I have always thought about a species that uses organics as machinery. Like if we got REALLY good at genetic engineering theoretically we should be able to make a lot of different organic machines. There is organic machinery though which is one thing, then there is also just a hive like scenario which is more typical where it's more insect like. I always love thinking about how organic based armies tend to be very similar to what I would imagine an AI machine army to be like. One is just organic and the other inorganic. There is honestly a LOT to think about. Which makes it fun.
Hey I know you are a warhammer lore guy but have you consider making a similar video about other space bugs. Like zergs, aracnids, terminids, xenomorphs, etc. Some seem to have no lore but most have a surprisingly number of specimens to talk about. Heresy I know but an idea for your longish form of making videos.
