I was able to get a build with the thanatos under 25 conceal, so I've been having a blast with some odd pseudo graze-crit-anarchist build. Because the highest damage in the game wasn't enough damage
Personally I like the nagant, I feel the lebensauger is more assault rifle than sniper, high stability, good ammo pickup I like to use nagant because of the damage and it's got decent enough ammo pickup
For me it makes re-aiming more difficult, like the crazy recoil on the Thanatos, the gun flies so high it’s crazy to reset, but that could just be me lol
@@b33croft That makes sense actually. When I first used snipers I was really thrown off by the shaking and since then I just toggle ADS in-between every shot so I don't get too nauseous. Didn't know stability minimized that.
Heres the thing, ik this is a little old but the thantos 50 cal with the skill that makes you reload faster, and the skill that refunds 1 bullet per headshot, and if you bring a smg as a secondary, the thantos 50 cal might be the best sniper (but def not for ds or above because you cant make a dodge build with it which is usually the only way u can win ds loud heists)
The “Rangehither” has to be my favorite sniper in the game. Too bad it needs zerk for it to deal any sort of damage. The huge plus is, it can quite easily run crits.
Thanatos, AKA 50. Caliber boom stick, no wonder its ammo pick up is so low. Still, that's why we have secondary weapons. Plus.....some of the stuff you can do to that thing is just comical.
It much easier to snipe with shotguns. More than often I see a sniper at the other side of the map and I just point my sewed off at him. I never missed.
@@b33croft That's never been a problem given that I always have entry level ammo pick skill aced and my sniper is exclusive for bulls, unexposed shields, snipers, and turrets.
@@austinung4710 The only weapon that can just casually destroy a turret before it repairs (on switch) is the rocket launcher. And that thing is situation do to ammo rarity.
Lmao I hated the lebensauger, I literally thought it is the worst. But then again, maybe i haven't played it enough. It felt really slow, especially the reload. I tried it here and there and I barely could use it on higher difficulties compared to the other snipers.
Well you were correct mate, and the reload just got improved by almost 2 seconds, so with aggressive reload it reloads in a little over a second, lightning!
I have gotten the bernetti range hitter and desert fox to be comfortable pocket sweepers in a dodge crit build. Takes a bit to get going using hacker but honestly it’s my preferred death sentence build
Well dunno, i love to oneshot a hoard of cops in their bodies. And two-shot bulldosers with no headshots as well. And I need an ammo build anyway so my pickup rate is roughly 1 per box with almost infinite flashbangs... If you can land your headshots though, this gun is very meh, yeah.
I personally like the R93 the most for being high damage and having good stats all around. The Platypus may be one step short of it but it least it has an awesome skin in Star Spawn.
Honestly, I've found that the Thanatos is worth bringing on maps that spawn turrets. it does solid damage, penetrates armor/walls, and can't be shot out when it turns to lock on you. Mind you, that leaves it largely useless outside of that, especially since the faceplate/visor forces it into a 3-shot kill on dozers, but I tend to regret leaving it at home when I see the turret pop out of the swat van.
I want to imagine Overkill adding some bolt action rifles from WW2, though the scariest thing is, imagine how overpowered they'd be made Someone running around with a Lee Enfield dealing 300 damage like a bleeding mad man
Sniper the Platypus?! For real though, I like being able to 1 hit headshot things without needing frenzy or crits (imo crit snipers aren’t worth it) and I did notice the slightly faster reload makes a huge difference for me
crit snipers is the only good sniper build if youre doing dw or dsod, and its not for one shotting cops its more for medics, cloakers, tazers etc, and i mean youre entitled to your opinion but objectively if you arent going crit on a sniper youre just purposely hindering yourself for no reason
Medics, tasers, cloakers, and shields aren’t a problem if you can land your headshots consistently with the Platypus. The only issue you’ll have is Dozers, but you can chip at them through walls or bring along alternative solutions (like javelins, or bloodthirst with a katana). For me, the crit snipers just aren’t accurate enough, and only being able to have a 30% RNG chance to land those one hit headshots just isn’t worth it. This is entirely a my own feel about the playstyle of them. But at that point I’d rather just switch to a Clarion or SMGs
@@Aurichalcam like i said, you can have that opinion but its statistically incorrect, you oneshot everything except specials anyway and the heavies youll one shot with it, they also have higher mag size and the more dmg helps graze alot which just gives way more kpm, like i said you can use it but its just not as good no matter what way you look at it, because if it was no one would use crit snipers to DSOD
No, it one shot headshots everything except Dozers on DS. Video here even says so. I personally like this playstyle more because 1) I can land headshots consistently. It’s why I got a sniper rifle. 2) I like to eliminate as many dice rolls as possible. The crit-hitters aren’t accurate enough so I’m rolling dice to hit in the first place. Then rolling again to see if the shot is a crit. Plus with the way Graze works, I prioritize the specials because they have the higher HP. Graze only spreads dmg according to total HP of the enemy, so I like to pick off those cheeky medics in crowds. The only unfortunate part is I cannot run dodge with it, which is probably why it’s not meta. Since tank builds lose effectiveness the higher up you go.
@@poocianpoo I'm no expert, but it entirely depends on your playstyle. I've had success with sniper anarchist, sniper grinder, etc. You can make snipers work with most playstyles (though it can be hard to make them work for dodge/crits due to low concealment, so I would reccomend avoiding dodge builds).
As someone who hasn’t had the chance or interest to pick up the newer DLCs, I have a big soft spot for the Repeater even though working it into a specific build wasn’t as straightforward as say the Grom. Easy ammo economy, good damage that doesn’t go overboard at the expense of other stats, the individual round reload is a godsend in more hectic firefights. Of course, this was before the Lebensauger’s buffs came along so I’m sure my tune will change.
I love the bolt-actions, and I usually pick up the Rattlesnake or the R93 depending on the difficulty, and sometimes the Desertfox for a John Wick Build.
Mosin crit builds are stupid and useless but I love them. It feels nice to use and it’s cool when I can kill everything in one hit. If I was making the list I’d put it way higher but you know, personal preference and all that.
My fav is the contractor, many thanks for having it that high on the list :D Because damage, looks? Yeah sure, but I mostly hate to see my scopes being wiggly when a bullet gets chambered, I have severely bad aim, so wiggly scopes aren't on the menu, sadly it means that 80% of the snipers were escorted out of my _sights_ I wish, man I wish we get more snipers in the game, more semi-auto snipers for the... Accurately challenged players like myself :') France has nice snipers too, we even got a neat revolver sniper lmao, so wht not!
contractor is still no1 for me the frenzy skin is so pog and it can be concealed easier unlike the lebensauger althought ammo pickup is slightly less it still doesnt matter due to its pickup being 2-4 meaning u are still insanely positive with pickup edit: also bigger mag size
For me, its the GROM, couldn't get the 308 to under 5 concealment with a decent secondary, what type of build are you using? Also the base accuracy sucks ass
thanatos is far from the worst, but putting desertfox as 12th is so wrong. its the only high concealment 480 dmg sniper. yea its slow but like, just hit your shots man.
My Repeater better be good- but I'm fully expecting the Contractor to be first lol Or maybe the Grom? Actually, the Rangehitter is good too... Bah, hard to guess!
For me the Thanatos became my secondary that I'd exclusively use on Bulldozers and kill everything else with a submachine gun. It's so satisfying to take out the biggest target with so few shots and then go back to spray n' pray against all the others.
Im my opinion the repeater would be satisfying to hit headshots and isn't bad either. Good damage, Mag, Firerate anything you can ask for really. Low blow aced and berserker aced makes this really good.
I like running the Grom, with the right build you can get down to 3 detection and silenced. Is stability important for high damage single-fire weapons? The time between shots is long enough that you'll have to aim again anyway, so having recoil after a shot isn't punishing.
I think stability between shots totally depends on the player. I'm no slouch, but definitely need higher end stability to be worth anything for consistent-ish headshots. If you're rock solid/can reacquire target while reloading then probably doesn't matter as much.
God, I remember when the Thanatos was the only weapon to use on One Down. It used to be so good, but then the rebalance, and now it's damage is excessive. At least the repeater is viable now.
Honestly my personal favorite is the Nagant. Probably due to the old days where shooting through a shield greatly reduced damage (75% apparently). The Rattlesnake was nice to shoot, but just didn't have the punch to drop sheilds in one, even with a headshot. The R93 could, but the fire rate of 50 would cause issues where I had a shot lined up before it had fully cycled, causing a misfire. But since I hated Sheild's with a passion (running a turret build where sheilds would just wear out their ammo and then they're useless) I ran the R93 to deal with them. Then the Historical pack dropped and gave me exactly what I wanted. The power of the R93 to drop sheilds and never had an issue with the fire rate. Ran along side Cobra for the massive ammo pool. It was my personal meta for a while, until I switched to shotgun slugs. Granted that was years ago, but coming back when there's more choices, the Nagant still reigns for me.
My opinion on the rest are so. The Platypus's reload aggravates me more then an extra mag reserve is worth. The Desertfox is worthless due to the accuracy. The Rattlesnake is just worse to the Nagant. The 1876 individual reload and massive mag is nice, but yeah the scope is hot garbage and keeps it as an occasional novelty. Haven't used the R700, but a half damage Platapus doesn't intrigue me. And honestly I can't stand the Low damage ones. They just feel like how DRMs SHOULD feel like (As in can punch through sheilds), but without even their terrible ammo reserves. So you can't even use them like a sniper (IE, sitting in a corner or a long ass hall not picking up boxes).
DesertFox - nice design and reload animation Repeater - great choice for random shooting on enemy groups (graze is Sure) by grinder madman Bernetti - Repeater's upgrade
Hey @everyone, does anybody remember another RU-vidrs-Name making payday2 builds and guides, like "Free Dodge Build" etc. I can't seem to find his videos anymore... 😕
I honestly think thanatos is one the best Here is why 1- i hate low concealment and builds with no armor, so for my builds, crits are useless. 2- i always bring with a secondary weapon to break the face armor of the bulldozer so i can one shot him. 3- i am a very good shot and have very good reflexes and i have ammo efficiency so i almost never have problem with ammo when we talk about thanatos. 4- its fun as fuck to use. 5- the splash damage when you headshot a special enemy with the colateral damage skill is ravaging.
The Thanatos is definitely a good weapon to hand the bots, i had them running it for awhile and then one day when i had the vanilla hud + mod to see the bots kill count i noticed they we're one shotting pretty much every enemy they seen and even had more kills then i did. I think it's a good gun to hand over to the bot if they have armor piercing skill.
I come from the future to make you really question yourself. *Do you really need stability on a weapon that doesn't fire even remotely close to a very slow submachine gun?* Snipers are meant for the single hit works, and increasing stability *objectively* does not make it perform better. If stability meant that it interacts with your steadiness, then maybe I would consider it a worthy stat to look into, since it would reduce the likelihood of my aim being thrown off from being hit.
Stability is recoil, waiting 3 seconds for the sim to reset is not a good situation, a good stability allows you to shoot accurately again quicker. Could just be me
@@b33croft In my time playing PD2, I only found Stability important on auto-fired weapons, never single-fire. I could say my hand easily makes accurate shots without stability, but I don't want to make that claim.
Hey if you don’t need it you don’t need it. By itself though, the reason I gave is the technical reason, think of it as gun kicking high into the air, the Thanatos is the best example, flies high and is nowhere near ready for a follow up shot. But hey, like I said, and do in all these vids, purely subjective in a lot of cases and everyone should just use what they find fun and like the most, just like I do
I like the Rangehitter, it feels like it's just the right RoF to put a bullet in the same hole as the one before it. But I also like taking the scope off and using it in a lightweight anarchist build so maybe I'm doing it wrong.
I love your videos dude everyday after school when I get on payday2 (which I just recently got into) your videos really help me get the most out of the game, I'm definitely here to stay
Thanatos is my go-to weapon for high crime sprees. I save it entirely for chunking out specialists and dozers before they can get close enough to be an issue, and I carry some kind of secondary SMG for everything else. Works shockingly well.
I really like the Lebensauger, what he says is true, great ammo pick up, i had never needed an ammo bag (at this moment), also has a really cool skin, in my opinion, the M9, and the info is really recent, glad to find this guy to help with my heists :D
I don't have all dlcs so my selection is limited, however I like the nagant and the platypus the most due to their small ish model with iron sights. Not as small and IKEA sniper as the Desert Fox, but definitely not as bulky as the lebensauger's. Come to think of it , visuals is 80% of the reason why I don't use the lebensauger. Darn you GeneralMcBadass and your videos that influenced me when I picked up the game!
I used to run a fn fal style rifle with a single fire mod as a dmr style. Got 100 accuracy with it so i could just run and gun whilst calming clicking everything
really? i get why thanatos is worst for you, but why desert fox on almost worst? only high damage sniper with awesome concealment, meaning you can always go for crit... i think desert fox thx to crits with many smgs should be much higher... compared to other high damage snipers its best of them, so yeah, i believe desert fox should be much higher for its concealment. acc can be modified by skills too, if 16 acc for standing still + steady grip gives you 24. that just needs 5sp for 100acc... not that 100 is so needed anyway, 96 is enough and thats 3sp
