I love how in Sonic The Hedgehog 4 95' where you enter the darker background tiles, the music is muffled and nature sounds can be heard. 2D Sonic games should add that detail for fun

4 95' was the weirdest one, the only thing you have to do to get the chaos emeralds is hit (Modern) Sonic And then he spins endlessly, weirdest one by far.

Sonic 95, scrambled eggs and Sonic 4 the reimagined adventure are at the top for me both are visually pleasing and make sure to get the gameplay right even if it’s a demo.

That's the point of them. They don't use 2D visuals because they are trying to make it like sonic mania or the genesis and sega CD games.

Also sonic is Mario's rival. Also did you even watch the sonic 95 scrambled eggs cutscene? Also also also, Sonic 4 just recycled old levels from the genesis games. It's nowhere near a new mario bros (because sonic is not mario) and it's bad asf. At least with these games it fits perfectly for them to recycle levels from the past because they are like the genesis games and sega CD games.
