I remember around 2006-2008 there was an old roller skate joint in Utica NY called skate-o-Rama that would host hardcore shows all the time. There wasn’t any skating at the time, instead it was slam dancing. Boy I miss those days.
“This is a rock and roll take over” Every now and then especially when I need it, those words ring out through my mind. No RIP, please come back. It ain’t like GJ are putting out a record every other year, this world needs you!!!
I didn't try to wear mostly black, but all I wore was band shirts, so it just worked out that way lol...I did have a baby blue Used Burt McCracken shirt though so lol
When the urgency strikes you, you'd better not lose your nerve. It's the rush that the cockroaches get at the end of the world. THE BEST LINE OF THE WHOLE SONG!
lmao, I just read this, literally after posting. if you're still alive in 2023, still here agreeing w you. I painted those lines on a t shirt way back when. fucking awesome!
To me Etid is goated in the hardcore scene even tho imo theyre heavily underrated still and they've never changed every record is still fire after all this time I truly treasure this band and will always come back to listen.
Hell yeah dude ETID is my favorite band off all time. I’ve started doing hardcore/hardcore-adjacent cover videos. Gonna do a shit ton of ETID for sure. Check it out next time you’re sittin on the pot
Damn this takes me back. I remember the first time I heard of ETID I was maybe in 6th grade which would make it 2005. I'm from NE Philly and me and my friend Dan would skateboard around the neighborhood. We were pretty terrible. There was a kid older than us that was awesome at skating named Chris. He had on the Hot Damn! shirt with the two girls kissing and let us listen to the album on his CD player and since then I have always been a huge fan. I wonder where that guy Chris is now. He showed us some pretty awesome music back then. I can't believe this only has 147k views. This video/song will forever remind me of my pre-teen/teenage years. Thanks Chris!
Dude this story was a joy to read! A nostalgia take back. I remember going to a Sounds of the Underground tour and they played this and Floater. Hooked instantly.
Crazy, similar experience for me. Skating in my buddies garage in 7th grade and his neighbor came over and played bored stiff for us. Listen to them just about every day for the last 15 years lol
Yeah... about that... Too bad that this song has absolutely nothing to do with Ebola and everything to do with calling out the hookup culture for the plague that it is, contrary to the tongue in cheek play on words title, something that great and witty Mr. Buckley has definitely never done on any other song... or damn near half of the songs he's ever written... hmmm...
I’m 13 and I’m wasn’t even born when ETID came out. But I still love their music. And it’s 2019 and I’m watching ETID music vids. Their music is some of the most out of control metal and it makes me wanna jump. Hope their next album is as good as Low Teens
I love that you love them...but god damn you make me feel old haha. This album came out when I was graduating high school and was my first exposure to them.
A Hostile Takeover yeah, I was born right when Gutter came out, and my dad was deep in ETID, and listening to Big Dirty everyday for about 4 years definitely helped shape my opinion on this band
Boys: Shoot to thrill from the hip. It's time we put the "act" in action. We've tricked the pigs into thinking that this auction is a pageant. In no time there will be makeup on our new set of cutlery. The livestock is star struck. They're all salivating like ravenous cartoons. Goddamn animal. You'd better watch where you spit. Squeal like soft music. If it helps, we'll dim the lights on the floor. Neon bulbs are the cosmetics of swine. Everybody looks quite dazzling, trussed up in there formal attire. You'd make a great secret if i could keep you, but we all spill out guts. We're locked and loaded. Drip fed and bloated. Our trigger fingers snagged in the mouse trap of the moment. Turn the lights off on us, like a moth left in the cold. In the dark, begging for more. When the urgency strikes, you'd better not lose your nerve.
2005ish and im in my basement, 3 floors away from my parents... in high school, put this song on and I remember EXACTLY where i was and my surroundings, to a T. Then the entire album played, but i think this was the 8th track of 10 or 11?
I've come from the far distant future up delivery a message...in the far flung futuristic year of 2024, this track still thumps. Also, I saw these guys live and still have my signed snare head. Cost me $20 which, factoring inflation, would cost about $394.28+tax
@gcf89 I don't think so, I think it's just the fact that both of these songs came out really early in their career so they didn't have the progression they needed to really differ to much from CDs. So when they made Hot Damn they just kind of followed the same guide lines they did with Last Night In Town. List to the first three CDs and you'll notice they all share larger similarities than any of the other CDs do.
When in Rome we shall do as the Romans when in Hell we do shots at the bar. Last call, kill it. We don't think in terms of the morning afters, and we don't utter a single word of the night before. In the meantime we're just thoughtless incessant buzzing apparatus.* Disillusioned and lonelier than the last man standing. It doesn't get any better than this so... run like Hell.
