Exactly! It’s likely that Bungie didn’t have the Witness’ design finished back in Shadowkeep, so they used a doppelgänger to represent the Witness.

I know your comment's super old, but I really did wish Bungie retroactively changed some of these dialogues to account for your use of Darkness.

It actually has many tools of manipulation to tempt others to its ideology: the Pyramids themselves, the Ziggurat, the Nightmares, which can also torment its victims. The Egregore is another of its tools it’s been using to watch us for so long. It was responsible for turning Guardians in Beyond Light, as well as season of Arrivals. The Weapons of Sorrow also indirectly helped the Witness corrupt many Guardians. Though Shin took care of that. For so long, the Vanguard and others in the Tower have been wrong about why he should fear our true enemy. Don’t fear how the Witness can easily destroy us, fear what it can offer us.

That’s what I like about the darkness and light. They don’t feel alien at all, but primordial. A force. A presence in the universe and out.

The hive will never stand with us, they fight their interest and if they need to kill us before or after the arrival of the WItness then they will do it. The Hive is an 3th faction. I spoke for the light Hive of course because the rest of the hive have yet join the Witnessye

@@Bracus.Reghusk xivu commanded the hive on the day of the exosism on behave of the witness to capture savathun so I'm pretty sure most of the hive have joined the witness

I already made a theory on this back in arrivals that somehow all the houses shown in the scene would rally and we are already 2/3 of the way there i think savathun will definitely need to come back and help our asses I'm lightfall

@@iixoticii8801 my main theory is that in lightfall we will be either abandoned by the light or it will be captured like in some red war type deal. We will combat this by resurrecting savathuun and asking her for help. Maybe she even gives us hive powers and that is the new subclass. And in either lightfall or final shape we will use all our Allies to try and defeat the witness. I wasn’t aware of the room with the four races as I wasn’t playing the game at the time and seeing it now helps me reinforce my theory. I also think it’s interesting that they have built each of our Allies a equal opponent. Caital has calus, mithrax has erimas, savathuun has xivu arath. I also think it wouldn’t be far fetched to say the traveler will grant caital the light and mithrax and the fallen as well

Shadowkeep ended right when it got good tho. Witch Queen had plenty of story bombs, but Shadowkeep just was too vague and not very "encroachful" for lack of a better word.

@@ActuallyNTiX That’s honestly what I enjoy about Shadowkeep, the amount of vagueness. Sure, from a gamer standpoint it’s boring, but from a story aspect? It fits in perfectly, almost unsettling. The Darkness itself has been vague, obviously starting in Shadowkeep, with only small hints, to which in Beyond Light, we picked those up, and pieced more together, as time goes on, either by Lightfall or The Final Shape, we will see the end, given it is the last DLCs in the Dark and Light saga. Pretty much Shadowkeep was just meant to be a lot more vague and unsettling, as was the theme

No, they won’t. Doesn’t make sense story wise to introduce a new species when it’s the climax of the story. Afterwards it will come, but a new variant of a species is needed this time too.

After the light and darkness saga for in the new saga it would make sense to face a new race for this new saga

i mean stasis has corrupted others before like in the dark future where anna was corrupted by it. my guess is the witness will give us subclass after subclass hoping that it will corrupt us or give us enough reason to side with him. I think the best way for us to beat the witness would be in whatever dlc comes after we get our 3rd dark subclass where he has to flee from us after we show that with all he tried to corupt us with it did nothing realy. After all that in the future i hope we get some fused subclassess where we use both light and darkness at once as that is apparently what the witness want to do and if we do it first then that would be cool

@@glitchyfox8706 what, like Neutural classes? I can imagine a Stasis/Solar hybrid that uses Stasis Physics with Solar attributes, like "Stasis crystals cause Scorch to nearby enemies" sort of thing.

@@johnprice6271 yea. Maby it could have customizable ability's from both and unique ones. I do feel like they would need to have been coding this in the background or give it 1 or 2 dlcs between us getting all the dark subclasses then dropping the neutral ones on us. I don't think neutral would apply for a mix of light and darkens as using powers outside of light and dark would be that... Maby some sort of fancy name that tells us the class is both light and dark. Unity many?

I always envision the Darkness talking to us through our ghost this exact same way. Was super hyped when it finally happened in Shadowkeep but I also wish there was a red eye or something

I think it would be creepy if our ghost's eye disappeared but its shell still moved, as well

you can notice a whole different race in dsc raid just right before the atraks encounter, they are frozen or idk paralyze i think cause if you approach closer enough you can hear them breathing. it sort of looked like the witness and rhulk race.

I think the witness had his eyes on us ever since we killed the black heart I think he would be very impressed with defeating crota,oryx,ghaul,eramis even rhulk and savathun

@@dropkick3024 We probably won't find out how he feels about Rhulk until Lightfall or one of the upcoming seasons before Lightfall. The way Bungie has written it, he's only reached out to a select few on our side, us as the guardian, Mara, and Savathun, I say Savathun because she's never really been our true enemy. She's never sent anyone after us, it's always been her underlings that we came across in battle on different planets, and remember what her worm said, she was one of the reasons humanity survived the collapse, she tricked the witness.

@@dropkick3024 I see more so that we caught his attention not because we destroyed the black heart, but because we did it not even a year after our resurrection. Our Guardian killed The House of Devils Archon, a Vex Gate lord, The House of Winter Kell, and made a noticeable dent in Cabal leadership; this isn’t counting year 1 strikes either or else the feats would be higher. I say our Guardian doing things quickly is what establishes them as a figure, and how the Witness would probably be keeping tabs on them. Also if you look at our Guardian’s kill count of powerful beings you’d see how high it is, not even counting other feats; that alone warrants aggression from the Witness

the witness is that 5th enemy race, albeit they took it to the extreme, in the concept there was only a single dude with a ton of smoke and the pyramids, what we got is a single smoked head entity that controls the pyramid fleet.

@@BitrateBilly well if that's the case I wonder if there's more beings like the witness, cuz he isn't the darkness. He's someone who wears it like a face. That's how savathun put it at least.

@@eduardoportal5341 for all we know savathun could've been lieying. Ikora stated during the raid cutscene after rhulks death that the witness is the maker of the pyramids.

Yeah except the darkness gives you memories, where the light takes them away.

And Ghaul even was told that by the Speaker. Sure, the Light takes away memories from the Risen who are chosen, but it also gives them something else-- redemption for some, like with Crow given the things he did as Uldren, which is why his being a Guardian now, even if he would have hated it in his old life, allows him to make up for his mistakes and forge his own path, away from what Savathun used him to do because of what happened to his sister.

Judging from the WQ cutscene, I feel like the witness is actually formless and just chose that appearance (see him emerging from that pool of black goo)

go the scarlet keep on the moon, go past the front gates and take a right and you'll be able to find once you go through the cave system. you'll have to glitch inside if you're in patrol, but you can go back inside if the weekly mission on the moon is "Beyond"

More likely Savathun’s hive faction being our ally. And we could potentially face Xivu Arath’s hive faction.

i think Savathun's faction will be an ally and the house of light together with the cabal, pretty much it will be scorn vex and taken we fight that are controlled by darkness im pretty sure

Well...could be a good Idea, but Xivu Arath would more killing as than helping us. I mean, we killed Crota, Oryx, Omnigul, her High Celebrant (sorry, im from Germany) and Savathun...😅

@@leonwendker3610 There’s two way to look at that. 1.) “You killed my family, prepare for death!” or 2.) “You’ve shown your strength through the slaughter of my family, what is it you want from me if you have not come to claim another trophy?”

The dialogue in the mission has unfortunately been bugged since its release. Right before we approached the statue, it was also supposed to say: "Come to us. Do not be afraid." This is something fundamentally wrong with Bungie's scripting of the mission.

@@ThePhoenix329 it still does the come to us part. It just takes a sec. It's recognizing that the guardian is scared at the sight of the statue. Just need to walk slowly up the steps

@@vrontheweb3749 as variks stated in darkness there's only one truth death. The witness only speaks through lies but honestly it's starting to see through. The witness manipulated us when we were vulnerable after the events of arrivals. We lost moons planets asher and Sloan to them.

...The Witness wants to wipe us out. Its idea of "salvation" is to render all beings so they never existed. Not just kill us; annihilate every trace of our being.

As well as how it didn't seem, to account for Strand when we come to Neomuna and Neptune. The Witness basically wants to sway us, but many Guardians' resolve is too strong to fall for its manipulations and half truths. Given we know it will do anything to get what it wants, like when we learned the Witness tricked Savathun when she was Sathona, to prevent the Traveler from blessing the Hive with the Light, and leading them to fall into the dark nature of its belief in the Final Shape, which ties to their Sword Logic. And it used things like Savathun's pride and Calus's lust for power to sway them to it and the Darkness, but they all fell eventually. Even if the Witness doesn't see itself as a god, it's underestimating us, like its Disciples and those that follow the Darkness like Eramis, Oryx, and such have, and it led to their defeats, so while things seem bleak now if you know the ending to Lightfall's campaign, there's still that hope waiting in the coming dawn. It won't be easy... but hey, it doesn't mean we can't win, given we thought we'd lose when it came to Oryx and his unleashing the Taken on the system.

The Guardian we are playing is possibly the most powerful Guardian to ever exist. Almost godlike. Canonically at least. We are an immense threat to the Witness.

Yeah, I was kinda happy during season of Arrivals, and then Bungo went a totally different direction when they outright removed the planets that the fleet was stationed on.

Our doppelgänger was actually confirmed to be The Witness by Bungie themselves during the interactive trailer, where they say we rejected The Witness offering us salvation in the moon pyramid. The Witness wasn’t lying about anything to us, it was speaking bluntly as our doppelgänger.
