I don't know about you guys, but the new album was anything but underwhelming. Honestly I wasn't expecting them to put out such an amazing album, after 13 fucking years, with all this hype and expectations from fans. But man, did they deliver it! Not to hail them as Gods, but you gotta agree not many bands manage that.

objectively, TOOL is really good music though. No matter what anyone says, those guys know how to play their instruments WELL. Contrast, a band like Korn was just mediocre talent having a good time making money off gullible youth.. Very few bands from the late 90s and 00s have made it today, still making GOOD albums. Heres a few: QOTSA, Deftones, Alice in Chains, Rob Zombie and John 5, Chevelle.

In my experience it is a curse to publicly identify as a Tool fan. You can like Tool music, but anyone I know who goes around professing or preaching their love of Tool, is an absolute spanner. I am unsure why.

The new album is great. It’s just that it’s recent and people had barely listened to it four years ago. I’m guessing half the comments that have said it was underwhelming four years ago have begun liking it more after listening for some time.

In my experience, tool fans are usually low tier intellectuals who use the band to express themselves. Tool are the nerds' Taylor swift. I could say I include myself in that with fake self-depreciation but I don't. Me I was way more into Pimus and other random technical death metal band before I got into Tool. Tool has great drumming and unique vocals but the bass and guitar are pretty meh. I I don't understand why Tool fans make their music so cerebral when IMO, it s not really what it's about. If I wanna be geek about metal there are other bands to chose from (anything the two Seans have done for example)

I don't think I have laughed so hard about a video....well...maybe ever. Loved it!! I am a huge TOOL fan. I have every album and have been to every concert to support those albums so far. I even saw Maynard at Lalapalooza back in the day when Lalapalooza was what it should be: Loud music, Alcohol, pot, shrooms, and mayhem. Damn I miss the 90's!

What confuses me is how focused in most Tool fans are. I am in love with Maynard and his work. He is by far my favorite artist, but I also don't let him overshadow the skills of ones playing the instruments because it is damn near hypnotizing. What I don't understand though is why don't people talk about his other two bands much? Specifically, Perfect Circle... their newest album is fucking amazing. The message it conveys is so damn controversial and contemporary (I love it). People only seem to talk about the Fibonacci sequence when there is so much more of his work to be discussed. Yes, Lateralus is amazing, but why aren't we talking about Wings for Marie? What about The Grudge? (That one is a little insane) So Long and Thanks for All the Fish is another amazing song.
