I gotta say, that’s the most extensive and thorough comparison of fans in RU-vid format - it’s great - I hope your channel keeps growing - it will it’s just a matter of time and persistence man- you are doing a great job!

thank you. I appreciate your kind words and support. I've put a lot of time into testing fans. I have an updated version if this review ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sAmlLSBhLFA.html (old testing method) was my previous tests. I found some flaws with it so I retested every fan I had done to that point. If my channel gains enough financial support I have a rev3 planned involving long term testing and being able to buy more than 1 of each fan to really have a better idea how good a brand really is.

So, I purchased the Iceberg Thermal Icegale Xtra 120, Arctic P12 Max, and Cooler Master Mobius 120 OC High Performance. The Icebergs clearly blow more air & harder & further than both, and the Arctic - despite everyone's claims and tests stating how good performs - is clearly in last in terms of both air amount, air distance, and how hard it felt like the air was hitting my hand. The Arctic Max was actually shockingly weak and disappointing. Out of those 3, the Iceberg is the only one that actually felt like it was at or close to the Phanteks T30. The way the air shot out was massively different. When mounted to my Cooler Master HAF 932's side-panel (pull, intake), the Iceberg felt like the air shot from the top of the blade's face upwards at around a 30-45 degree angle and from the bottom of the blade's face downwards at a 30-45 degree angle while the Phanteks felt more like a laser beam shooting forward straight out of the blade's face. This didn't bother me at all since it's for case cooling and the spread is nice, plus, the side panel uses 4x 120 mm so tons of air going everywhere. I was totally fine with the maximum speed noise of all the fans and was ready to keep the Iceberg's since they were the only 3000-ish RPM, high CFM, high pressure fan in around the same league as the Phanteks T30 while still being only 25 mm......until I mounted them to my side panel. Unfortunately, when mounted to the side panel, the Icebergs make an insanely loud, high pitched squealing scream from around 1200 or 1500 RPM or so until max RPM. All the tested fans introduce a new, constant whine/scream noise when mounted to the side panel that usually starts at around the 1300-1500 RPM range but this newly introduced noise - while being a different sounding tone with each fan - is much, much louder and higher pitched with the Icegale than any of the other fans. It actually sort of reminds me of the sound of like delta industrial fans or something (when at the higher RPMs). Again, the sound did NOT occur when the Icegale - or any of the fans - are just held in my hand. The Icegale was perfectly fine then and bloody amazing. It was only when it was mounted to the panel. The Cooler Master also had a sound issue. The Cooler Master was the only fan where that newly introduced panel-noise never went away. Even at 1000 RPM, 800 RPM, 600 RPM, etc. the noise - while obviously going down in pitch and volume the lower the RPM - was always clearly audible...and, trust me, I'm one of the least picky persons around when it comes to PC fan noise. The Arctics - like the Phanteks - do not have either of the 2 panel-noise issues. They both have the panel noise - which I'm assuming most fans would have - but not either of the 2 particular issues described above. So, the Icegale is being returned because of the panel-noise issue, the Cooler Master is being returned because it's performance doesn't come close to the Icegale but while also being 27 mm instead of 25 mm thick and because of the panel-noise issue, and the Arctic is being returned because it's performance is incredibly poor compared to the Icegale and is even noticeably behind the Cooler Master. The final 3000-ish RPM, 25-ish mm fan I'll try is the Silent Wings Pro 4. If it's performance disappoints me like the Cooler Master and especially the Arctic, then I'll just say "screw it" and get Phanteks T30s but I really wanted 25 mm for the side-panel. I don't see a point in trying the awesome Lian Li P28 fans because, at 28 mm thick and their price, I might as well just go Phanteks T30.

You could also try the SuperFlower MegaCool 120. it tested the best 3000RPM + Fan. So all 3000RPM fans are loud. so the question is, is the sound they product tolerable. They might be resonating to some extent with the panel. An option to try would be a foam or rubber or cork spacer between the fan and the panel. Add extra resistance to vibration transition.
@Spinelli__
@Spinelli__ Месяц назад
@@computer-tech-more It's not due to vibration. The sound happens as soon as I put the fans very close to the panel even if I'm still holding the fans with my hand and not touching the panel. The SuperFlower is also 30 mm so, if the other 25-ish mm, 3000 RPM fans don't work to my liking - I think I only have the Silent Wings Pro 4 remaining to test - then I'll just get T30s. The Icegales would have been perfect due to their performance and thinness (25 mm). All the fans make the panel-induced noise at around 1500 RPM to max (except the Cooler Master which always makes the panel-induced noise, even at like 600, 800, etc. RPM), the difference being the panel-induced noise with the Icegales is an insanely loud, high-pitched scream that reminds me of, like, industrial delta fans or something.

Thanks for the review. Just planning replace my stock Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO with this fan or alternative like Arctic P12 Max. Or maybe just get top tier Phanteks T30?
@computer-tech-more
@computer-tech-more Месяц назад
@@SakigakeMechazawa I try to let the data speak. but I have some 3000+ RPM fans on my channel. Superflower mega cool, P12Max FDB and T30. and and the Be Quiet Pro 4. for that cooler your not going to get much more performance out of a 3000 rpm fan Your probably better off going for a quieter build with it at similar performance values.

So, considering the overall cost-benefit ratio involving noise, energy consumption, and airflow, is the P12Max the best option in almost all cases?
@computer-tech-more
@computer-tech-more 5 месяцев назад
hmm for max airflow price to performance the P12 Max is the best with the FDB bearing. I dont do energy consumption testing for fans so not sure there. There are fans I do prefer like the P28 but it costs a lot more.

I must be misunderstanding the right-graph at 11:25. The IceGale is supposed to be loud yet the chart shows it at only around 44-45 db while the control 140 mm fan is a whole 4-5 db louder (49 db) for the exact same air-speed (about 1.80 or 1.85). What am I not understanding correctly?

Old testing methodology. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sAmlLSBhLFA.html updated review. its not to bad a low RPM but yes it gets really loud.

Which do you think would be better between this and the P12 Max with regards to having 4 of them (2x2 config) on a side-panel pull-intake setup for the HAF 932 case while in the, let's say, 1500-to-max RPM range? My current 4 "mid-performance" side fans make a nice difference to my oc'd RAM's cooling but am looking to get some "ultra-high" performance fans to replace them but am only considering this and the P12 Max due to price. Thanks for the vid. I watched the entire thing.
@computer-tech-more
@computer-tech-more 7 месяцев назад
I would go with the P12max. I trust arctic more than IceGale. The P12max is about the best you can get for that price. Thank you for watching

these icegale xtra 120mm performs as good as phanteks t30 but well they are loud as hell, p12 max are nice but imho for pure raw power ice gales are way better, quality wise they are the same with p12 amx

ya im trying to figure out if i can make one on the cheap. $100 for a smoke machine is a lot to spend on this channel right now.

I think there is a RPM threshold below about 700-800 RPM where this fan goes standby mode. MIne behaves the same. Also, regarding other concerns: you need to strap this thing to a beefy radiator to get what this thing all about.
@computer-tech-more
@computer-tech-more 9 месяцев назад
thats true. these fans are designed more for Rads. but they are noisy.
@angeltensey
@angeltensey 9 месяцев назад
@@computer-tech-more i'd rather use noisier fan that can force air through a rad than quiet that cant.
@computer-tech-more
@computer-tech-more 9 месяцев назад
@@angeltensey I guess it depends on are you going for high overclocks or running normal. Most 2000rpm fans can handle non OC cpu's. depending on the Rad involved.
