On today’s episode of Everyday Pilot, we stop by Dr. Anderson’s hangar where stores his High-wing high performance airplane; the Cessna 210. Dr. Anderson is a medical doctor who also has a passion for flying. He currently flies a 1975, fully equipped Cessna 210.

Growing up with his dad who is also a pilot and owned several airplanes, Dr. Anderson started flying at a very young age. He eventually decided to get his pilot’s license after becoming a doctor. I had a chance to talk with him earlier this year, and here is our full interview and a flight review of the Cessna 210.

One thing you didn't mention about the 210 that impressed me when I was flying a lot: 17 GPH at 65% cruise. At the price of avgas today, that makes the price of the airplane itself seem very reasonable when compared to its cost of operation. The best I could ever get out of a Seneca II (turbocharged twin) at 65% was 24 GPH, yet the CT210 has a considerably faster cruise speed (195 Knots vs. 165 Knots) on only one engine. Both will carry six people and baggage with very similar weights and balances. It is hard to justify a budget item for a light twin with performers like that of the 210. Great airplane. Great economics.

I’ve got several high performance hours in the Cessna 210s and the P210 models and I love the way they handle and with the IO-520 engine you have the power and cruise for cross country

That looks like a 510 Datsun in the hanger too, that would be a nice story, to see about it’s history.

Ive owned the same 210 for last 25 years. Great traveling machine. Flew it to alaska and back a few years ago - great trouble free trip. The plane has legs, if you run lop even longer legs, decent speed and will care anything you load in. Ill never sell it.

Good video Mike. I grew up flying with my Dad, first in his Cessna 182 and later in his v-tail Bonanza and later his A-36 Bonanza. Several of our friends had 210’s and I always admired them, for they were fast like a Bonanza but had a higher degree of practicality and that high-wing benefit. Thanks to your host on this video 👍

My dad worked and lived in a hangar at that airport a few years ago before passed away. It was good to see his old place in the background and giving KCCO some love. Keep up the good work, Mike! Hope to see your Sling around KRYY soon!

Nice video Doc. My 210 experience, owned and flew one a dozen years, was a lot like yours. Used it to do the fun family things with my Dad and others. Miss him and it! Keep flying and enjoying life.
