I have a weird habit of getting potg as Brig by just playing the game and getting like 2 kills during a team fight and I always laugh when I see I got it because I never expect it to happen
That's what I'm dealing with. This guy went off about me playing Brig, shat on my ult usage and I got 14k heals, shut down McCree's ult, got more kills than the DPS and only died 4 times. Fun fact: dude's name was Nardwuar but he wasn't Nardwuar because Nardwuar is cool.
the way people treat meta (the concept) in ow has always been insane to me because people will see a character that the community has decided is bad and then fulfil their own prophecy at mach speed by throwing. Maybe I don't play enough competitive games in general but I can't think of any other game where people are so adamant that if a character isn't endorsed by the top 10% of players then they're essentially worthless in every situation
yeah it's insane to me how people still don't understand but if you're below gm meta pretty much does not matter at all, and if someone got to their rank playing something off meta than they're not any more of a detriment to their team than a normal player
I'm part of the smash community and you're right. People picking up underrated characters for a game or two respect them or can see the potential, even if they don't think they're meta. The gap between good and bad characters is bigger in smash ult compared to ow2 which makes it so much weirder. Character specialists are much more prevalent in fighting games than ow so that might be a reason. Zens basically don't exist above gold, for instance.
I mean look at mercys shift from season 1 to this season she pretty much didnt change at all yet all of a sudden the hero who was deemed the biggest throw pic gets concidered a mist pick just cause ppl for once realise that SUPPORT characters are not just HEALERS
She slaps she can counter reinhardt with a timed shield bash against a charge for her team etc. really good and can solo tanks like roadhog and doomfist except orisa, reindhardt and nemesis they're just too sturdy to solo without help.
For anyone reading, you can cancel bash with shift for almost instant 120 damage. Meaning you can primary fire the tracer once, insta bash into shift on her and they never expect it. Its a bit hard initially but I think over time it got better and better for me the more I tried it
even better, you can cancel bash with primary fire then cancel that with shift dealing an instant 155 damage (enough to oneshot a tracer, only 2 swings needed before combo to oneshot normal characters)
this makes me want to come back to brig. All I heard when I mained her was "this is not how brig is played in the higher ranks, she's not meant to brawl, she's meant to spam shift in the backline" and I always thought that was kinda bullshit. It's good to know the character can be fun and effective under the right conditions in the higher ranks
@@akimbofurry2179 me and my homie run big shield and little shield all the time and it’s super effective in disrupting a full push when we’re losing . Most of the time we 2v5 take some out and get objective again .
@@daughteroftiaran yea it really is . I’d say the only hard counter to it would be a zarrya protecting someone from a distance w bubble like an orisa unless we got ult
People thought Ana was weak on release. I played her and healed a Rein that was stuck in dragon ult and he lived by pure Ana healing. Unheard of outside trance at that time. He then proceeded to screech at me for playing Ana when he died next fight. People use perception too much and big streamers opinions. I imagine there are hidden meta's of hero comp and playstyles that have come and gone will never be possible again and were never found. Keep pioneering Meta!
IKR, I played a lot of Ana on release, but back then EVERYBODY bashed me for playing her as defence -"Ana is push hero, why you pick her on defence omg". Within a month or two, everybody realized how strong she was, but that initial period was insufferable from people thinking they knew what was right - not from the experience of playing her, but from being told something
yeah honestly the thumbnail is slightly misleading the thing I think everyone is wrong about is people who say she's useless and gets outclassed by other supports in every situation
@@flxryz I am not debating the brig issue, but yours is a shit argument, Moiras always have amazing stats but they bring zero utility to the game, unlike Lucio, Kiriko, Mercy, Ana etc, just cause your stats are the "best" doesn't mean you're carrying.
Bigger problem is our definition of worst. When we think 'worst' we think F the bottom of the barrel and bad. But nobody stops to ask "is it possible that a character is the worst but not actually bad?" Brigitte is only on the bottom because of current meta.
It also depends on your skill. An amazing player using a D tier character can outperform players using an S tier character. Likewise, give a bad player an S tier character and they'll play as if they were playing a D tier character.
Brig is built for team fight. The more team fight her teammates commit more effective she is But here's the problem, people like to be one man army and feed for no reason so... L to them
This is true. Once and a while, I do actually feel like swapping to Brig would be the better pick when things get brawly and focused up. But when there's so much distance and downtime she just suffers....
I stopped playing overwatch before Brig came out and didn't play again until Overwatch 2 and Brig is easily my favorite support to play. I feel like a lot of long term players have skewed views on her because they compare her to what she used to be and dont want to judge her based on where she is now and how to use her kit. Shield could deploy faster if they wanted to buff that though lol
@@omnijam your not missing out, old brig was basically just a body guard for your second support. Effectively all she did was keep the other support alive and warded off anything that was trying to kill them
I'm thankful for this brig appreciation video. as someone who occasionally tops the DPS and Kill charts as her people need to get put in their place. Skill Issue
I Play quite a bit of Brig and I have to say that combined with Ramatra she's pretty good. Nemesis Form/ his Ult and then Just Walk on people with Brig right behind him to heal and do damage. Thats pretty nice
Brig is probably the best positional control support in the game - both with abilities and the sheer power of *existing*. But only a real good Brig can see the many, many ways to punish that others can't.
I’ve been saying this. She’s probably the best brawler in the game. People just compare her to GOATS Brig way too much. It’s a different game and a different play style now. Whipshot is insane, she hits multiple targets at once, and Rally makes her an off tank for a full team fight.
If Brigitte is good or bad, idk All I know is that I understand her strengths and weaknesses better than any other hero. This means I play smart and make good decisions for my team. My highest win rate hero
The way I play Brig is what Kajor said in his guide. Help frontline, clear flanks, pack dps and peel for your other support/back line. She’s still a great anti dive hero. You’re not really gonna be off position as Brig unless you overextend helping the frontline or your bash is in cooldown while your clearing flank/flanking and you have no where to escape. And in maps where team fights will be decently close quarters like Dorado it’s fairly easy to heal your dps while you jump enemy back line. If your tank is occupying the tank, you essentially help the tank AND dps by jumping the back line and forcing enemy support to pocket each other instead of supporting the tank while also packing the dps at the same time. I can’t really see another support doing this besides Lucio.
I think brig is so underrated it’s crazy. A good brig never dies. I do think she could get 25 more health or armor, and I’m exciting for her ult rework coming soon. She’s so much fun to play
If she her shield or hp went up she would feel so much better. You notice how most of these kills were on support or snipers who couldn't hit a headshot. She gets bodied on average in exchanges
How though? For me, she is a counter hero and only get her when I'm getting owned by Tracee/genji/sombra attacking me in the backline. I use her a lot, but she feels weaker than other healers in any other situation. Moira is much better at attacking the enemy backline and getting out.
@@Retax7 Brig has a very unique kit compared to other healers i’d say. Taking out flankers is probably her only “real” role, but it doesn’t mean that’s the only thing she can do, just the only reason you’d really wanna pick her if you played most other characters. She isn’t handicapped; she’s got cc, mobility, burst damage, average heal over time, shield for cover, and a decent (if slow charging) ultimate. Judging off of that, I’d say she’s good if you can make use of her whole kit. Holyshiftkid (T500 brig/mercy) said she was decent recently, just outclassed by kiriko.
I will say that with hog being meta, brig can block hook with shield and boop hog when he hooks someone else. I dont think many people really give her any thought.
@@trk20.it’s wild what she can do if you get the shield bash right or the whip shot that makes hog miss his one shot. It’s insane when ur hitting those.
Good flail accuracy and high Inspire uptime will really allow Brig to shine. She basically plays like a slower, tankier Lucio with more healing and DPS potential. The amount of times I've killed 200 HP heroes within a second and turned fights really shows that Brig will stand the test of time when Sojourn finally gets nerfed and Mercy goes back to being suboptimal. She just needs a couple of buffs to her utility so people are actually willing to play around her. Maybe Rally speed up her teammates as well or E gives temporary over-health.
Using Brig I promoted straight to silver in my first EVER placement playing support in OV2 and got to gold real quick after that. She's such a effective counter against dps and even some tanks who constantly flank, even protecting your fellow supports. I've literally fought and won fights against tanks purely by duking them. She's an absolute unit and nobody can tell me otherwise.
whenever my team is losing and im on support, i switch to brig, and everyone seems to do better, shes a support that lets your team rush in more aggressive because shes quite literally there with them, its just that because her kit is something you have to know how to play and not mindlessly swing and tank hits while playing aggro and shes a little complicated to play in terms of keeping everyone alive while putting out damage and negating it people dont take time to utilize her and just go for "she sucks"
@@meta1ow Oh no she’s not useless, Brigitte can be super good in defensive comps where she basically plays bodyguard for the other support since she has a shield which gives her high self sustain. The issue is that in Overwatch 2’s new 5v5 format, Brigitte as a character is just not well designed. The current meta picks are all high mobility supports or high utility supports like Lucio, Mercy, and Kiriko, where it’s just constantly fast paced offensive dueling. Brigitte just doesn’t thrive in that type of environment, especially ever since they nerfed her ultimate from giving teammates armor to giving them overhealth only. She’s not a bad character, but she IS the worst support compared to the other supports. I stand by that. She doesn’t bring much to the table.
I think I actually know why people don't like them, they work better when running disruption. It's the same situation to zen except even moreso because their plays might require teamwork. A good brig or zen understands how to get picks. Most players never learn the off-angles or flanks to get better plays while better players play more easily understood as viable characters so no one gives them a proper look-over. Edit: they're also innefficient. Taking so long to take down an enemy is time not spent being a support. Most characters just need a couple shots but brig has to use all her tools to get a kill even close to moderate speeds.
Tbh as a hitscan player I hate having brig on my team. I feel it puts my team at an inherit disadvantage not having more powerful support ults and general heals. Literally lost a game with a brig who had half of everyone else's heals. I asked her to play Ana and she just said it was unranked to gm. Usually when I see someone choose brig or zen now I just lock soldier 76.
I only started playing during the launch of 2 and I'm Gold 2, so my comment is probably a drop in the ocean, but this is a really good showcase for what you should be doing on Brigette! Running in to the face of heroes like Widow and Hanzo (especially if they choke and cannot hit a shot for the life of them), following your tank for high-value pick offs, and brawling with your team during ult. The only reason why tierlists exist is to compare the heroes at face value on how they are EXPECTED to perform, but it doesn't account for any skill-expression, elo, maps, or match-ups whatsoever, I rarely see good Ball players in my elo, but when I do it's a nightmare, doesn't matter if the hero is "D Tier", they are still able to utilize the tech on the character to great benefit, and in most cases, will outperform the current "S/A/B tier tanks. Coming from TF2, an example that comes to mind is Spy, at face value, he has little mobility and a small healthpool, but there are people that are so good at the class (and by extension the game) that those downsides don't even matter, the exception is the competitive format where it would be far too easy to tell when a Spy is disguised. ALL IN ALL keep playing the heroes that you find FUN and remind you why you play the game in the first place. glhf.
I like your thoughts. Metas are made to be broken. Sure the high tiers are generally capable of more, but a dedicated player who knows where to apply their character is terrifying.
Realistically, in order to stop the payload, the enemy team will typically have to get close in order to halt movement. This is where Brig can become a madwoman-flail-weilding-18th century-knight
Thank you, I have been shying away from brig and play more other meta support even though brig is my most favorite and best support because of all my teammate, and I just never feel like I have the same positional impact as brig
When i started playing OW (when OWtoo released), i started playing mercy because i used to rock medic in TF2. brigitte's personality drew me to her, and now she's my favorite. Part rein, part kiriko, part lucio, and just so goddamn charming. The only support i can 1v1 tanks with. Granted, i'm low silver.
It's insane how long it took to realize that I actually have to play brig like someone with a close quarters weapon and not just a hero without a gun. Watching this person actually use their shield as a parry when reacting to other people and using combos to eliminate threats altogether rather than strict resource management was eye opening.
Even if they never bring back her stun I’d love to see her 600hp shield make a return. She is so disadvantaged with the current meta of Ram+Bastion+Sojourn and you can see how that can affect her as a support character as her healing almost completely relies on inspire.
Was so happy to see them willing to buff shield health from 250 to 300, but honestly I think they could go higher still. Maybe not 600, maybe like 400-500. She should be sturdier but still have to play a little smart to preserve the shield.
So I played brig quite a bit but got frustrated with her design after I found that her abilities that actually support her team were like underpowered versions of other supports. But what I've found is that she specializes in harassing key members of your opponents team. If their support makes their tank unkillable, if their widow is annihilating your team, if their DPS is pushing hard, then Brig can shut them down and heal up your team mid engagement while she does it. While you could pull this off with someone like a Lucio, her damage output and excellent defense means she can deal with these 1v1s better than those others can
Brig is undoubtedly the worst support rn, but that doesn't mean shes bad even in the slightest, I genuinely think the reason brig gets so much hate is because people play her like a mini tank or dive dps instead of yk a support. Recently I've been playing some brig on quickplay and it's genuinely crazy how much healing and damage you can output by simply playing passive and defensively, like flats say's the best way to play brig is like a bodyguard for your supports, or hell, your entire team.
She was built as anti-dive Back in the day and she ist still great at that or in hectic Teamfights in small spaces (around the objektive for example). She ist build to Project and stay alive. Not very flashy qualities for Most Players
First voice in the video sounds familiar! Good video. Loved the tf2 music and classic memes, and of course the sick brig game play, but I think I still stand firm on the things I've said about Brigitte in the past. Still very good job anyway, keep it up 👍
Playing brig while listening to stains of time is based. "Flush away the anger... Flush away the sorrow... AND IT WILL COME, LIKE A FLOOD AF PAIN. FOR MY ENEMIES" is the true experience of brig maining.
this is true, but I'd argue that she is better than everyone is saying (she is not a useless character) at least from my testing, given I have very little experience on her (1 season in ow1 and 3 days total in ow2) and managed to get high rank very quickly with very high winrate
I swear this video was made for me. I started overwatch on console the month brig was released, and I’ve played her most of all the heroes. I switched to PC I stopped playing her. I tried her when OW2 was released but quickly stopped because I had no idea how to play her anymore. I’ve been watching HSK the last week and basically one tricking brig since then and I’ve climbed to a career high in comp. I know I’m low rank, (gold3) but I’ve climbed from bronze 2 to gold 3 in like a week.
I looked up top tier brig players on yt since I’m pretty new to ow. Played ow1 very little . And I have reached gold in comp and never understood the hate on brig (my main for support) I drop mad stats at the end of the game and have gotten pog multiple times in teams w trash talkers telling me I’m bad 🥴 I didn’t know she was so hated until I watched this video. I subscribed cuz this was awesome . I don’t think brig is bad whatsoever and this vid proves to those just being sheep
Flats been saying she a sleeper rn. I think she's fun I just don't feel like I have enough understanding to play her well. Guess I'm grinding brig some tonight to get better with her haha you've reinforced it now.
Brig isn't bad you can defend yourself and backline from nearly everything it's just that because it's nearly everything and not just everything people say shes bad. Just needs some tweaks and she'll be good
I've watched so many games where I think "if one of the supports went Brigg in this situation they'd be doing so much better...." but they never consider it. It's like she doesn't even exist to them. It's crazy.
It's so funny how quickly people start throwing when you pick a character they don't like. I've been using brig on an alt and there were quite a few games that I felt brig was literally the best choice to pick. My teammates would cry no differently than the ones in your video. Sometimes support is so annoying cause nobody is "can we get a sojourn? Why no sojourn? I'm afking if we don't get a sojourn."
I main flex support GM, and brig is the only main support I comfortably play at this level. She has more survivability than pretty much every other support except for kiriko/bap because of their immortality, and vertical mobility along with the fact kiriko can TP.
As a main Brig, this makes me happy. Reality is people just don't know how to play with Brigitte. Yesterday I was asked to switch while I've just killed both dps. But sure 😂
I love brig. I haven't played her in ow2 yet as I've just started playing it after not playing ow for a bit, but she's so much fun and underrated. I actually do well with her and find it satisfying and rewarding to off enemies whenever I play her lol.
I've never understood why people immediately said Brig was bad in OW2 as soon as it came out, the only thing that changed about her was her bash stun got removed but it got mega buffed in return and Rally got a slight indirect nerf, still an insanely broken character, just not "meta" :/
People talking shit about brig don't even play her lol, and if they do they probably think she is some mindless hero you can play because "all she does is heal and boop" so no wonder they don't win with her. Her biggest utility is survivability, being able to block ults like Junk tier, Rein shatter, Tracer pulse ect, and at the same time dash out of a lot of other ults like Orisa ult. All this while also mitigating a lot of dmg, I sometimes have more MIT than my tank as brig, that's because I know how to shield dance and keep my shield alive and mitigate the dmg away from my team. She is great as a backline bruiser for when you have a dive tank on your team and someone needs to push cart or protect the backline support and snipers. I see so much utility in this character, and having a long range boop is amazing to keep enemy tanks from diving your team aswell as booping people of high ground. Also great against genji, tracer and and ball, and 1v1s any support right now easy. The only thing she lacks is a good ultimate, it feels low impact compared to other support ults and doesn't really save anyone in a pinch and most enemy ults with tear through the overhealth but they are reworking that I heard, so the future is looking really good for brig mains.
I main brig but always struggle to get good damage but always get good healing. people then say I'm healbotting but if I push in more for damage I just get killed. Its a cycle of anger
Nice video. Some great stuff in here. Brig is fun as fuck in OW2. It sucks she feels so underpowered in the current meta. I had a blast with her in the beta. Everything I like her for, I feel Lucio just tends to do better and more consistantly... Constant heal AOE, constant wider boops, ult that gives loads of overhealth. AND he has speed boosts and insane mobility with wallriding not to mention. Idk if Brig needs major buffs of some kind. A way to more readily heal on command would be appreciated. Her biggest problem is downtime. (Inspire can't always be active and her repair packs are just so weird and finnicky and limited.) They just buffed her shield, but honestly I think it could have even more hp still. I don't want her to be completely braindead invincible "hold W+M1," but I do want her to feel relatively powerful. Lucio feels more invincible than her, and she's the armored chick with a shield lol.
I have my final exams at university coming up in the next few months, which are obviously very important, so I'm on a break from youtube, but in the summer I will have graduated and will be taking youtube very seriously. I'm gonna upload loads of content and be very consistent and up the quality of my content as well. Hope you don't mind the wait too much there's not really any other option for me rn :)
Brig's kit is actually pretty good but it's just that it doesn't suit the current meta. Still I have loads of fun as brig because I love play aggressive alongside my tank but other healers just aren't as suited for that as brig except for moira which i do see you playing moira and brig in your support so checks out. Also just want to say that her 50 hp buff to shield is quite significant since that is effective another sniper shot/arrow that can be blocked which is so nice.
This is what I don’t get, any and every hero of overwatch played at high performance is playable up to and in t500, playing meta gives you an advantage but it doesn’t mean nothing else can be played but I love your statement of if that’s what someone played to get to their rank, they aren’t holding the team back Similar to like how lhcloudy did unranked to gm shield less, rein is not meta, and taking away a big part of his kit and still being able to climb to top 500 is crazy, but if you aren’t playing meta and lose, you’re the one that’s easy to blame
People are often surprised when I swap to Brig against hog or double sniper, so it's very satisfying when I start bullying their team. Definitely slept on, but Junkrat really makes her ineffective. Bastion soldier and sojourn can also be a bit rough.
I noticed a similar thing in season 1 when I played a lot of doomfist. People just always assume everything is your fault. Sure, I am the same rank as them but 1 player can only account for 20% of a team.
Nail your boops, gaslight Genjis into thinking they're safe with deflect for the shield bash and learn your burst combo and you're golden. No pun intended
I didn't even know people thought brig was bad, I keep getting picks on clueless players not realizing I'm there and then I just combo their entire back line
Brig is decent. She is just not in meta because of overpowered hog and oneshoters like soj and ashe. She just doesn't have a place in meta teams. If it's not hog, it's orisa. If it's not mercy+soj, then it's reaper/tracer+Lucio. Brig is not needed, but it doesn't mean she is weak or can't do value. People are just too dumb on low rates, and streamers just adapt to this stupidity.
people need to remember that heroes represent different playstyles and sometimes maybe you just want to play to have fun, it's not always about maximizing win probability, yeah mercy is more meta right now but maybe i don't want to be a braindead pocket and i would rather brawl and actually play.
I agree... Brig hella underrated. She is my second most played character and I have the highest win percentage with her (other than Rein) and I'm dogwater at OW2
Great video. Yeah, funny how brig sucks but she has the highest win rate out of all the characters I play (which is basically every character except ball, sym, bastion, and echo - and cottonfist). With a good team, brig shines. With a team that is just constantly taking too much damage, she can’t sustain. But there’s also the sheer fact that brig is just better at healing certain characters than other healers. Genii, ball, pharah, echo, doom-ahem-cottonfist. If anyone selects any of those characters, I tend to feel obligated to play brig cuz I know she can get the healing to them the quickest and with good range and minimal effort. I like playing Ana from time to time, but let’s face it, your teammates don’t always have time for you to line up your shot before they die and you see “wtf Ana” in the chat box.
As a Brig main I should they should reduce Shield bash down to 4 seconds, or alternatively, give her two charges on Shield Bash, but nerf the damage to 25. This would give you option to commit to dives if you feel you have an opening for a quick bully kill, or dive out again if you realise the window has closed. A double dash would also address the many LOS healing problems you can also face as Brig, when someone is just inches around a corner but your Shield bash is still on CD. Another massive buff would be to increase her mace swing damage to 40 from 35
