This dude is so inspiring. Maintaining such a complex diet WITH Type 1 Diabetes? Bravo man. My son has T1D and wants to start wrestling next year. Thanks for sharing!
bro, diabetes, training, going to classes, studying, maintaining his diet, and most importantly having the mental focus to not get distracted by the million different things that life has to offer
I wrestled , swam and played football , plus weight training and general cardio at that age . Back then (I'm 57) we just ate a lot period . There was no talk of proper nutrition . Tons of carbs and sugar , I swear I don't remember ever drinking water . If I was thirsty I drank soda, juice or milk . Never gained weight either , it was awesome! Glad to see there's a smarter approach to it now, better way to maximize performance . The 2 hardest workouts were wrestling and swimming . Both had a lot of throwing up at times it was so intense. Good luck!
I’m also a type 1 diabetic, I was somewhat of an athlete myself, and competed at high levels along with managing spikes and dips in blood sugar is a real challenge. I commend him for competing at such a high level and taking good care of his body. When I trained I always found it easier to put on muscle with giving extra insulin.

Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude, thank you! My son is working towards heavyweight. It is so effing hard to find real diets on here. Tons of celebrity-types put non-specifics (might just say omlet, smoothie, with no quantities). Do you have protein or calorie goals you can share? Do you track or supplement other nutrients? Curious how you would change this based on being in high school and less access to home during the day. My son has a very similar smoothie (with olive oil!) If you take suggestions, might I suggest buying the cap for the blender with the flip-top "sip and seal" lid (we have the same blender, makes it much easier to drink on the go)...maybe $10 or less. My son gained 40 pounds doing this last year, hoping to do that again this year to make heavyweight this season or next. Shout out for doing this as a DM1. Forwarding this to my wall of meat to see.
It's really important to track your calories and macros for the day so you have something to measure off of! Everyone is a little different but if your son is working out frequently and trying to maintain being a heavyweight, it should be at a minimum 4000 calories 150g+ of protein minimum!
@@Ath_Elite ugh, I wish it was 4000.... It is like 7500-8000 calories and 300-400g protein. He will eat me outta house and home before eating those, too. He loved watching this as he crushed his Costco berry smoothie last night
As a nutritionist, this is brutal to watch, I would suggest way more protein if this is truly a day in the life of eating. 6400 is absurd amount of calories for having maybe 150g of protein, drop your carbs/fats and replace those calories with protein and watch yourself grow.
He literally said in the video putting on too much muscle can make you tired so he definitely should be eating his carbs and fats. Wrestling is a glycogen based sport lol
@@StevieWonders1 that was at least 100 from the giant plate of Costco chicken alone 🤣 Hard to say from just the video, but I would guess that he is getting 250-300g of protein.
