FACTS yo 😎. Kratos wanna press circle on Freya 🔴⭕😂. I never found Kratos cruel interactions with The Boat Captain funny at ALL 🤔😕😑. It was unnecessarily cruel and Evil really making me see Kratos as an A HOLE. I'm wondering how did Lysandra survive Kratos pressing circle on her ⭕🔴 😂. I wish Kratos would've had to face more of his past sins like having Poseidon's slave princess hold up the lever to her unjust her death was obviously Evil. Many people miss out on Kratos history with Sparta and The Barbarian King in God of War 1&2 games which is around the time he became more ruthless, violent and merciless as a Spartan warrior. This dude always does great video essays analyzing these video game characters. It'd be cool if in a future scenario Kratos met Jesus Christ of Nazareth to have his sins forgiven. Kratos always been complex and seeking redemption knowing what he's done is wrong. I'm just wondering what happened to Aphrodite after Kratos killed the Greek mythology gods destroying much of Greece. Kratos learning his own character development from Tyr in Valhalla about how his morality evolved to becoming more immoral by causing suffering and death to millions of people in the past while killing The Greek mythology Pantheon gods in a selfish quest for revenge. Now he's trying to redeem himself by accepting what he's done as his past God of War self from the previous games to being a god of Hope and heroism. Tyr in Valhalla really giving Kratos therapy 🤣. This has nothing to do with the video but please listen if you want to otherwise leave it alone and ignore it. Hello my name is Justin and I'm a fellow Christian and Apologist but I'm also a college student. I'm not a closed minded Theist as I have nothing against Atheists or unbelievers as I speak to them often to understand their reasons for unbelief but we as Christians are convinced of God's Existence due to many real factors). I'm not trying to convert anyone or convince anyone to become Christians as that's The Holy Spirit's job to help people believe but only explain why I believe in Jesus Christ. There's actually evidence of God's Existence in Christianity. First of all there's proof that Jesus of Nazareth existed in history since the writings of Tacitus, Josephus Flavius, Pliny the younger and other historical documents prove that He was living two thousand years ago that even scholars both religious and Atheists agree with historically speaking but not that He's The Divine Son of God because obviously they don't. I'm going to give you historical and archeological evidence for God's Existence as The Scriptures have prophecies that predate the events recorded in them by several millennia including Matthew, Hosea and Zechariah which prophesy accurately of the people of Israel becoming a nation again after over 1900 years of being scattered around the nations since the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem in 70 A.D. spoken of by Christ in Matthew 23:29-24:3 and returning to their homeland after The Holocaust with Jerusalem as their capital in 1948 exactly as Jesus The Christ said. The prophets including Daniel spoke of the time where several world empires would arise and fall including the Babylonian kingdom, Medes and Persians, Roman Empire, and Saladin and the Muslims which went in consecutive order for the past few millennia. The people of Israel becoming a nation after The Holocaust in 1948 (ironically the melting point of gold as God compares Israel to gold that's tested in fire in Zechariah 13:8 and Jeremiah 16:15) exactly how Jesus The Christ said would happen since God us everything to come in The Scriptures and not just because people were working towards as Atheists claim which are impossible for any regular man to predict. Just before anyone says Christianity is a white man's religion made to oppress blacks during slavery you obviously aren't aware that the first Christians were Jews in The Middle East and that Christianity just like any religion can be used by evil and corrupt people to oppress others but you forget that the first Abolitionists/Civil Rights activists were Christians who sought to abolish slavery, racism, segregation, injustice and prejudice throughout American history. Jesus The Christ loves you enough not to give you what we all deserve which is God's Wrath by His Own Blood. Charles Darwin didn't originally come up with The Theory of Evolution over 200 years ago as it is mentioned in the writings of Ancient Greeks who believed in Demons that gave knowledge to philosophers. Evolution makes no sense when nothing has evolved after thousands of years of human history and supposedly the first creature came from primordial sludge several millions of years ago funny how they won't believe that God an Eternal Almighty Spirit Being created us from the Earth) which came from a supermassive expansion of matter at high temperature that inexplicably created everything in the known universe that supposedly came from nothing billions of years ago. How did the organs evolve before there were bones, skin, substance and how did any creatures see before eyes evolved? I've studied evolution and abiogenesis in the past and read Darwin's " Origin of The Species" and I'm not convinced of macro Evolutionary biology whereas I accept micro Evolution like speciation and adaptation but not macro Evolution because there's no evidence of it nor clear observable examples of it where living creatures evolve into other kinds of species plus the fact that fossils don't show evidence of evolution and genetic entropy rules out evolution. The question begs how did two genders evolve from a common ancestor with a perfectly hospitable and sustainable environment with breathable oxygen and resources to survive on inexplicably? Atheists have the burden of proof to explain how everything came to be and why our existence is possible without the Existence of God from an godless perspective just as Christians have to provide evidence of God's Existence and the validity of His Word. Evolution requires life to already exist in order to take any effect in living organisms so it doesn't account for the existence of Life and reality. Also evolution is impossible because it goes against The Law of entropy and the second Law of thermodynamics because evolution makes things better whereas nothing continues to get better but decays and turns to absolute destruction in the end. Mark Ridley an Evolutionist said "No evolutionist whether gradualist or punctuationist uses the fossil record as evidence in favor of The Theory of Darwinian Evolution as opposed to special Creation". God's Existence is made perfectly known and observable in the universe as demonstrated in His Handiwork in the intelligently designed manner that Creation was made, human consciences and consciousness historical and archaeological evidence of God's Word being valid history, fulfillment of Bible Prophecies God in His Holiness and Righteousness could give us what we deserve in Hell for our since but He's merciful to give us free will to choose to accept or reject His gift of salvation by grace through faith in His Son Jesus. I don't mean this is any condescending manner but if you'd like to discuss The Scriptures with me or have me listen to your view on anything my instagram account is Savage Christian Kombatant

Valhalla, as another youtuber put it, is the 'end of Kratos' in a metaphorical sense. Gone is the god of bloody, rageful wars. And here we have Kratos learning to finally accept who he was, striving to change as much as he can, to finally become not a god of war, but a god of hope, love, and peace. as you said in your Ragnarok video, Kratos was becoming the "all father" from the very beginning of this journey, from making Mimir his advisor to wielding a magical spear made by dwarfs in order to help him win a war. Valhalla, to me, is the finalization of Kratos into a better, wiser All-father, where he leads the lands with wisdom and hope, and not lust for knowledge or power. he has personally brought the end of countless gods, most{if not all} of which were arrogant fools who let their vices get a hold of them. Zeus was a debaucherous, prideful fool, who tried to kill Kratos simply because he didn't obey him blindly. Odin was a man who prided himself on wisdom and Knowledge, doing everything he can to stop a prophecy. as we know, considering the prophecy that caused Zeus's death, avoiding a prophecy only leads to it happening quicker. Kratos was always a better All-father than Odin could ever be, simply because of one thing. Kratos lost his mother, his brother, and his wife and daughter to gods. He *knows* what it is like to be under a god, he KNOWS how harmful a prideful god can be, more importantly, he knows what NOT to become: a man who lets his fears and doubts control him. so, in short, Kratos is the final product of suffering, surviving, and changing is. in his own way, Kratos had achieved Apotheosis, a state over Odin, Over Zeus, Over fear, Over hunger for knowledge. He is no longer a god of war. He is a god of hope, of change, of wisdom, a god who the mortals would never fear his wrath, a god who knows what his purpose is, and isn't drunk on power.

Take it from a guy who has had more than his fair share of PTSD: recreational combat can be quite relaxing. I've been using swordsmanship as a means to relax my body to make it easier for my mind to process trauma for several years now. Tyr's use of fighting to help Kratos work out his personal demons and questions of his own worthiness makes perfect sense to me. It made the Valhalla dlc just that much more cathartic and even a little validating for me, seeing my own personal favorite process of dealing with pain and loss up on screen and being recognized by other people - the developers - as a legitimate form of therapy. And for all the naysayers out there regarding Kratos becoming a god of hope? What power do you remember him using to slay Zeus with? What power did he take into himself at the end of the original trilogy? It wasn't rage. It was hope. The only thing that was equal to Kratos' rage was his hope for a better outcome. It is what allowed him to become a better man. A good person. That is what makes him suited to be a god of hope because nobody understands how important it is better than Kratos. Hope is all that he had after the he realized what his rage and vengeance did to the world. And opening himself up to the hurt that he could suffer for trying to be a better man is the dark side of hope. It means risking more pain for a better tomorrow and still trudging through and trying anyway. To hope is to do more than simply endure, but to aspire and inspire. That is what makes Kratos the God of Hope.

While my experience isn’t nearly the same as yours, since I’ve grown up learning different fighting techniques and martial arts over the years, and learning more of the philosophy behind a lot of those martial arts, I feel like training in sparing matches with friends or even shadow sparing alone, practicing the fundamentals, all of that does feel very therapeutic for me as well

@@raymondfisheriii791, there's no qualifying for it. The fact that you derive therapeutic experiences from martial arts is enough. Christopher Judge is truly an excellent actor. I've always believed that he adds something of a shakespearean element to whatever he is part of, similar to what Patrick Stewart brought to Star Trek NG. The perfect example is Judge's presence in Stargate SG-1. At first his character is a typical Worf type, to the point that him sitting stoically in the background lead to him falling asleep during certain shots. But as the show progressed we gained a view into his character's past, psyche and complexity. Even him falling asleep in the background went from a joke about him being big into meditation to *actually exploring said meditation* and why it was important to him, especially as a way to accept his past. The fact that he even wrote some of the best Teal'c Episodes for that show speaks volumes.

For me, when Kratos confronted his younger self, he was completely vulnerable. Not only did he not have his weapons or armor, he was on his own without mimir by his side. Thus being able to truly express his thoughts, baring all his emotions and his need to wield anything.

Also something I’ve been thinking: even if redemption isn’t possible, even if forgiveness isn’t on the table, should be the fact that he changed anyways and continues to do so still admirable? He didn’t do it to be redeemed in their eyes and he might not be for some but he still made that change and that’s what’s important.

Something I think I only noticed on a second rewatch. At 33:49 when he has reclaimed the throne, bathed in the light his skin almost looks normal. Like he’s no longer covered in the ashes of his family. Almost like he has metaphorically “shed his skin” to begin with something new.

In terms of kratos deserving redemption, I find myself constantly quoting Parthunax from Skyrim as cliche as it is, but here it works. “Is it better to be born good, or overcome your evil nature through great effort?” I’ve always believed that redemption isn’t just a certain milestone that one can hit, not something that once you do it you hear a “ding” mission completed. It’s something you work for, all the way to your death. Kratos wants to atone for what he did to Greece, which given the magnitude of it, it’s a Herculean (pun intended) task at the very least, but the point isn’t atoning for it, but living with it. In life, when a mistake is made, no matter how trivial or monumental it is, there is no changing it, there’s only learning to live with it, learning from it, and growing from it.

If they do end up continuing this franchise with Atreus I wouldn't be surprised if they call the new games "Son of War." If you didn’t go out and find the translations of the songs for both of the games from Old Norse to English, or whatever language you speak, then you would not know that Atreus is actually referred to as the “Son of War.” In both of Kratos’ theme songs they refer to Atreus as this and he is most notably referred to as the "Son of War” in Letting Go. This song is the one that plays at the very end of the story as Atreus says goodbye to Kratos. As Atreus exits stage left, the first words of the song are sung and they translate to “Son of War.”

Kratos is very much an interesting character on paper most people would say no he doesn't derseve the chance to be happy, have a family, have another chance at being a parent, but as this DLC showed us not everything was in black and white. As horrible as Kratos was he did accomplish good things and always had a twisted spartan sense of honor to him. And the fact that he constantly regrets his past and probably on some inner level never will forgive himself adds more to why this Kratos is making up for the actions of his past younger self. It's kind of like the old fashioned Christian saying “only god is the one who can truly judge us when our time comes”

Personally i see Kratos' words of "you are more than that, you have always been more than that" as something that can be applied to the series as a whole, especially with people saying the series had "finally grown up" when 2018 came out, but that just ignores how og Kratos was always more than just an angry brute

I've just finished the DLC and it's wonderful. Something I loved in the final confrontation with young Kratos was how old Kratos still jumps to the same defences he did in Greece. His first response is an aggressive insult ("god of fools"), then to shout at young Kratos as an enemy, just another god to fight. Yet in that he goes up and down, bringing everything he's learned in this internal battle. From god of fools to hope, to the acceptance that he is angry and arrogant, but also complicated and broken. Healing isn't instant or necessarily linear, and in one scene he breaks back and forth before reaching peace

Be better than yesterday every day we walk the earth. For the sake of our loved ones. I really hope this isn't the end of kratos story but if it is? Fine because what a story it is and it can end perfectly right here. But santa Monica if you take kratos elsewhere I'll be there at midnight release. Absolute mastery in story character development and wish I could play it for the first time all over again

24:27 Another way I see Tyr’s fights when he brings out his weapons are the steps of mastery. The spear and shield being on of the first lessons a spartan learns, the Maucuhuitl being a weapon that’s a bit harder to wield for its weight and simplicity, the khophesh used by higher ranking soldiers in Egypt, and the katana for some of the most decorated warriors in Japan. Side note: love the instrumental changes when he pulls out a new weapon

Fantastically done video. Valhalla really was a sensational gaming experince. It's definitely dope to see you actually do a DLC for once because honestly, there are some for sure I hope for you to cover (Phantom Liberty, Ballad of Gay Tony/ Lost and the Damned) but hey a step is a step

And yeah, I think Kratos does deserve a chance at redemption. Hes experienced contrition, hes suffered for his sins, now I think theres a world or three where he can explore what it means to forgive himself. Honestly hes deserved it since the mid point of 3 imo

I love how in the ending when its over the camera goes away and everything is darkening it makes it feel like curtains are closing making it feel like what we played was the greek play of the Kratos a human warrior turned to the GOD OF HOPE

I actually love that Kratos is still rehashing issues and feelings that he was grappling with in the main game. It illustrates very well how healing and forgiveness is not a linear process, and often involves circling back to hurts, failures, and shames over and over again.

I will always remember the scene where kratos affirms that the bad parts of him exist, but that he’s more than just those parts.

I love how the easiest diffeculty says. Show me will As in.. it doesn't matter on what diffeculty you play just show you want to "master thyself". It starts with willing to master thyself.

I’ll say it over and over until I die. Games are such a special medium. To be so lucky to play so many amazing games and to go on a journey with so many great characters. So man when you talk about coming to tears I feel that. It’s what makes us human and what makes games like this so compelling. From kratos, to Nathan drake, to Joel and Ellie, master chief, shit even with characters like Spyro and crash. These games and characters are special and grow with us! I feel so lucky to be apart of this era of gaming and to also watch the end of eras as well!

I used a spear build that would give me a diffrent effect each time fire, poison, blind, freezing, bifrost then when i detonated a spear with fire freezing or bifrost i got a storm of them. I was able to shred every enemy even tyr with zero effort. I killed a minotaur in like 10 seconds.

27:00 I think the best builds that people have figured out are Scorched Earth > Runic Reset for Blades, Elemental Hunter Spear throw, and Finisher build for axe. Overall axe is the weakest imo, but I quite like using the axe for how good it feels.

Another thing that I noticed with this DLC was the parallels to going to actual therapy. Going to therapy often can feel like a repetitive process, just like the repetitive loop of a rogue like. Fighting with mental health often does feel like a battle. Helios represents the negative voices in our head that brings us down when we talk or think about our past. Tyr is obviously the therapist, often we "fight" against the therapist when they are trying to help us but they also offer insight into our traumas. So the parallels are very prominent
